I think drafting his east freo team mate Trent Rivers was very shrewd. Not just a handy player but the boys came to Melb together so the home sickness isn't as strong. Think they'll both stay.

Had a skim and not sure this has been said yet..
Re: new cba negotiations.
As far as I'm aware players can sign now with a proviso that the contract will increase by the same % as any new cba salary cap increase.
Edit: just googled to confirm. Its some kind of 'funds clause', about 50% of players currently have it. I'd suggest if LJ wants it in the new deal, it's his.

4 out of the GF defense isnt ideal. Still feeling confident, the boys will get up for all who couldnt get to the GF.

Didn't want to take away from the result at the time, but personally need to give a huge thank you to @Dante. The extra priority tickets allowed me to take my parents with me to the game. And I'm so glad my mum was there for when I started crying. Thank you so much, mate.

Just an observation but every interview that I have seen with Christian Petracca he has had the Norm Smith tucked away. Only the Premiership medal on display. Wants it to be about the team not about him. Thats my take on it and I like it.
Was lucky enough to be at the cup presentation in Perth this morning with Garry Lyon introducing each player. First thing he said when about Trac was mentioning he'd immediately removed his Norm Smith medal because the win was a group achievement.

The media focus has been on Jones but Gee Nev has been a true leader at the club.
I sent Nev a message Saturday around lunchtime thanking him for getting us to this position and all the joy he's given us watching him play with so much courage and skill through those dark years.
He sent me back a message at 2.30 in the morning saying "I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did"
It was a wonderful gesture by Kysiah to try and give home his medal.
So good to see the whole squad involved throughout the whole final series. The way past players, families and supporters have been acknowledged along the way
What a wonderful inclusive club we have.
Couldnt agree more.
Saw Goody with Nev on the replay this afternoon and it hit me how much work he had put in when we weren't at the top. Those guys are culture builders. Gave everything, always.

Have heard the crowd will be pro Demons. I hope so.
Perhaps some Perth Dlanders have a clue?
Too early to tell but what would be the reason for this speculation. Tix sold?
In the city centre at the moment for lunch and a nerve settler before heading to the ground and it's looking very close to 50/50 supporter split.

Prediction: Viney has a cracking 150th, 30 possessions and a goal with a 10 goal lead by the end of third. Lock for the Norm Smith. What a star, what more can the man do we ask ourselves....
Runs out of the 3tr time huddle with a shaved head and 2 full tat sleeves wearing the number 2.

Dear AFL
Not a fan of a twilight/night grand final. Please just haver it oat the day. I don't care about the lights at night.
I've got double nerves today because I will be watching the storm at 4 to hopefully see them get into another grand final. At least that will break up the arvo and waiting until 7:15.
I just keep thinking how this is it and think can that really happen. We need to take our chance and we need to grab it because it may not come around again for awhile. I keep picturing Maxy holding up the cup my god if we win I think I will be in shock.
The light show at the ground will be pretty special tonight at Optus as a new state of the art stadium. Agree in general though.
As a WA footy fan I love getting to the pub for lunch on grand final for a 12.30 bounce.

Anyone know who the commentary team is?
The call makes such a huge difference to the broadcast, particularly on a year like this with so many committed members unable to attend the game
Hopefully in 20 years we'll still get goose bumps from our "Leo Barry, you star!" moment

1st goal: Spargo
Norm: Harmesy shut down job on lib and kicks a couple himself
Goals: T.Mac has the 3rd defender and gets off the chain

I'd say 3pm otherwise you risk being hammered by quarter time like I was before then 2018 prelim
I might be able to hold out until 3pm EST.

I'm getting edgy. Almost midday here in Perth. Still 5 and a half hours to bounce.
At what point is it OK to crack a beer? Need to settle the nerves but also stay sober enough to find my seat.

Also, 7 has the rights to the gf so it will live stream in Australia on 7plus.
Edit: oops, already explained above by Sue.

Just sitting here thinking about big games. And generally, your stars will perform when it matters. So it's more about the other guys, the younger guys. And I think LJ and Kozi particularly are made for big games. They were clean and smart in the prelim, could have some really defining moments.
Also, met a bloke who from SA at the pub last night who's mates with ANB, said he's definitely on for first goal. Throw a 10er on lads.

When Goody was on 360 for his coach of the year chat he said something about giving his longer motivational story on the Friday, so may have already been done!
Perhaps game day is more short and sharp, or as was mentioned above defers to Maxy and the leadership group

"Demons of the past" in relation to the players. My fathers history shouldnt be my burden, nor is the history of the club the burden of 23 young men on the wkend. They're doing it their way and it's working, let them do their thing.
Also, a [censored] wce fan has been calling me "Wattsy" for about a decade and I desperately want Fritsch to kick a bag on Saturday so I can explain to him exactly what wattsy did for us... indirectly.

Twisted ankle ain't keeping me out of my outback ressies gf. It won't keep Charlie out. Surely precautionary.

I don't see Tomlinson down back next year. Petty, to my mind, has surpassed him for that role.
Not sure where he fits in to be honest - he won't (shouldn't) get the wing back. Perhaps he ventures forward and competes with Tmac for the CHF role.
Do you mean he'll play fwd?
For me, Tomo was quality then got injured. Petty took his chance in a backline with May and Lever. Not a bad backline to play in.

22 years I've been supporting the Demons (I know most y'all have me covered). Jonesy has been a part for 16 of them.
There's def been the frustrating, sad, annoying, but I can tell you it's never been directed at Nathan.
I'm not ready to let go. Nathan is almost all I know..... Petition to sign Zac as a "transition" Jones.

Schache as a fwd tag on Aliir Aliir was interesting. He was literally spoiling rather than attempting the mark at times. I'd assume he will do the same to Lever in the Grandy.
Caught Port off guard, we have 2 weeks to plan for it.

No Eagles or Dockers fan would ever claim the other as their second side.
Its always another team.
Ahh apologies, I misinterpreted as a 2nd WA side rather than a 2nd option of support.
Either way my comment on Freo stands.

Some of us have only known pessimism until this year.
You've just had a sneak peak at the 2021 Premier.
I suspect we are about to become the second side of the city of Perth. What a time to be alive.
Lmao "Second side", coz Freo aren't relevant now Jesse's left.

Anyone noticed Judd McVee at all? How's he looking?
The young lass at my local bar is his cousin so the inside scoop on his progress may get me a free pint.
