That was like pulling teeth to kick that goal. FFS

Sloppy as, cant handle pressure, on several occasions when marking waiting for the ball to come to them instead of jumoing to mark the ball. Lift Dees!!!!!

Was there on Friday night, and watched our body language after Swans kicked the first goal of the 4th quarter. I knew we were beaten then, no discussion, heads down, walking back to centre, hands on hips. Form over the last 10 weeks suggests Cats, Swans and Pies are the clear top 3. I think one of these 3 will go all the way. Then its us, Lions and Freo, who have been hit and miss. Any team can still win it if you're in it, but the likelihood the bottom 3 win 3 in a row is highly unlikely. Prove me wrong Dees.

Don't want to lose tonight, but after watching Richmond and Brisbane last night, was thinking whoever won we would have them covered pretty easy next week. So........ let's just win tonight, and not be too upset if we don't (trying to convince myself either result is ok)

With Yze a potential senior coach after today or this weekend, I do wonder how much input the brainstrust have in the way we play. He was with Hawthorn and witnessed Clarko first hand. Also with Choco a premiership coach too, there is a lot of intel there. Yet we continually kick out to the left from kick ins, and forward line structure is below average. Don't know if its just me, but I scratch my head. Do they trust how they want to play and back themselves? Is Goodwin too stubborn to change? I just don't understand with such a high level of experience that we don't change things up. Anyway good luck to Yze if successful.

We go on a 4 game winning streak from tonight and win the flag (I hope). Dees by 26+

Out: Forward line coach. The amount of entries inside 50 only to get kicked straight to the opposition was staggering. They don’t lead properly, get in each other’s way etc. And they call this the best league in the land. FMD. Local footy have better forward function than us.

I won't be satisfied until this thread hits 200 pages. Didn't think it was possible when it passed 100 pages, but we are well on the way 🙌

ANB has had a shocker tonight

Haven't had the play this quarter but i'll take it

Aish has played an excellent game tonight, has beaten Oliver tonight.

What is with the fumbles tonight?

We all hate losing, it always leaves more questions than answers. Goodwin is meant to be the best coach in the business, but doesn't seem to have an answer 3 weeks in a row. Mark Williams meant to be the best developer, yet we cannot hit a target and players are out of form apparently. Forward craft is sub-suburban standard its not funny? So what is wrong and why can't coaches fix it? FFS can it really be training loads?

Seems a common response that we are a 'quiet' supporter base. I went to the Hawthorn game with my family, Punt Road end forward pocket, my wife and I thought the crowd was super quiet, hardly anyone screaming out. Then I went to Freo game alone sitting in same area, quiet again. I screamed out something like "Call for it Ben Brown, you're the biggest bloke out there" and it was like I shot Bambi, quite a few people turned around to look. There were a lot of families with young children, so maybe our demographic is slightly different. Just happy to give a golf clap. As others have stated, other teams supporters seem more rabid, almost like its life and death. Don't know what the answer is though?? Just accept that we are quiet? Richmond have the 'grog squad', not saying we need that but a genuine group of Demon supporters that may rev the crowd up with general banter and wit?

Weid and BBB need to learn how to lead. Forwards coach needs to address how stagnant they are.

Carlton are playing well, but Sydney are making some fundamental errors too to make Carlton look better. Everything Carlton have done tonight has turned to gold. Think we will beat Swans no problem, Blues will be a great challenge, a round 22 encounter will be a cracker, would still back us in though 👍

Part of me wants to kick them while they are down as a sort of revenge for the 2018 prelim, we were embarrassed that day. 100+ point win will do. But I don't think football players think like that, especially this team we have now. Very process driven, playing your role for the 'TEAM', and enjoying winning.

FMD what is going on with our forward line? Leading patterns are non existent, Brown and Weed both going up for marks hoping to clunk one. I sat down the Punt Road end, and watched numerous time Brown and Weed just standing there waiting for something to happen instead of making something happen, frustrates the crap out of me. I honestly see better forward line movement at local footy. We could be so much better. And what is with the kick ins after the opposition scores a behind? Our plan seems to be kick it to a pack and hope for the best, time and time again. Do the coaches just think we'll back our team against the opposition instead of coming up with a plan??

Yze and Chocs currency is declining every week. Is Yze midfield coach? We apparently have the best ruckman in the league and still lose the clearances. The Bont gets another 3 votes and we didn’t have a plan? Where is Chocs influence when we drew with Hawks and lost to Crows, Giants and Pies?
-
Firstly we are probably not as good as we thought we were. We have not blown out any teams this year, are getting off to slow starts EVERY week, and relying on coming back. We have been putting Williams and Yze up on a pedestal this year, but I wonder what the impact they have on these games we drop? Seems to be when we lose, it's Goodwins fault, when we win it's Williams and Yze having a great impact around the club. We all hate losing these games we should win, and I guess we all want answers why. Hope our coaching team can work together to get us firing in every part of the ground. We have become a little shaky.

Greg Stafford “As far as what combination best suits us at the moment, we’re still trying to find that out" So let's make no changes. Inspiring stuff.

Ugly ugly win. Decision making news to improve big time, like Hunt kicking directly to an Essendon player in the last minute in our forward line, no players being on the goal line etc. We need to also keep pressure on under performers, so be interesting to see who steps up in the VFL tomorrow.

How can nobody go for the mark after the Tom McDonald kick falls short? Baffles me

Ventured down to Casey along with a few others on here to observe a few players. Weather was pretty rainy when I got there for 1st quarter. Not too many spectators, I estimate around 400 max. Among them were Mark and Nicole Bradtke (Mark is huge), Choco Williams, Alan Richardson, Sean Smith. First observation I noticed was Ben Brown is BIG. Not overly solid, just very tall, towers above Majak and Weed. He had his left knee strapped. This bloke knows how and where to lead, he presents himself well and is a target. Nice mark and goal in first quarter, then a juggling one handed mark again, followed by an unlucky roving snap that hit the post. I asked Alan Richardson on the way in from quarter time huddle how the boys were looking for tomorrow, he said we're travelling well and will be a good test. I asked about Ben Brown and he said he'll be a great pick up for the club. Ben presented well again in the 2nd quarter, without adding to the scoreboard which was dominated by Williamstown. He then went in at half time with the team, came out to run a few laps, then ventured inside to pull up stumps. I managed to ask Ben how the knee was, he said it felt really good, and that he had fun out there. On this, once in the tracksuit, Ben went to the bench to sit with the team for the rest of the game, and was very vocal and supportive at the 3/4 time huddle with the forwards group. Love guys with input and support for your fellow teammates, reckon he will be a beauty. Other notes I observed:- Petty - Played down back, didn't notice anything amazing, did his job, yet didn't see any mistakes either. Played first half only. Joel Smith - Similar to Petty, did his job, looks comfortable down back. Fraser Rosman - Personally I think a project player, was quiet in my eyes. One instance in the second quarter was going in for a contest against opposition, think he should've gone harder, outcome was Williamstown player wanted the ball and got it. I like players with mongrel. Don't expect big things early, a lot to learn. Bowey - Was down back most of day, picking up a player. When using the ball by foot, majority of the time hit his target, looks like a footballer who knows what he is doing and what decision to make. I like him. Is small though, reminded me of Caleb Daniel hoping he can be as good. Laurie - Kicked a nice roving goal in the first quarter, as others said, second quarter unseen, then bits a bobs thereafter. Is a bit bigger than Bowey, and legs more solid. Daw - Built like a brick ****house, played mainly ruck, did pretty well, don't think he is a natural footballer, but presented well and took some nice marks around the ground. At times I thought he was plodding along and needed match fitness, but if you need a solid body I'd pick him as a good backup. Mitch Brown - Was up forward in tandem with BBB and Weed. Mainly playing CHF in first half. I like how he plays, leads well to the correct spots, took a few nice marks. He is more athletic than big, but think he is better than people give him credit for. Similar build to Petty. Weed - As other said, struggled. Was flying for marks, couldn't get onto anything, leads were not coming off. I'm hoping if he does get back in with BBB that he gets the 2nd best defender and the pressure will be a bit less for him. Comparing him and Ben Brown was like chalk and cheese. Has nice big legs now, just want him to have a bit more mongrel and aggression to take the big grabs. Bradtke - Not a natural footballer, yes obviously tall, worked in tandem with Daw in ruck. For me this is his last year, looks a bit lost out there. Number 11 from the opposition was too big and solid for Austin. Hibberd - Felt like I was watching an AFL game, got his possessions and with his lovely left foot used it pretty well. For me one of the best out there. Baker - Some players just know where to go to get the football, others don't. I feel Oscar is a solid VFL player, hoping he can prove us all wrong, but didn't do anything substantial in my eyes. VandenBerg - He is a solid unit and looks very comfortable out there, did some good things and quite vocal with the group. Overall think we got through unscathed, big positives for me were Ben Brown and Jake Bowey.
