    Amazing!

Well I think we can say with certainty that the players love Goody.  Every single one of our stars has re-signed.

  2. Also this might be the first week when a team will have to spend some good preparation time thinking  "How do we stop Luke Jackson having an influence?  Who the hell do we put on him?  Hes 198cm but plays a like a mid ..  he had 22 touches and changed the game last week.. 11 possessions in the 3rd quarter alone...  he gives them a totally different look in the ruck too and he follows up his tap work at ground level. He just never stops.  What will we do?"

And that will now be the norm for opposition team meetings until the day he hangs up the boots!

good call. but I say, we sure as hell won't win a flag with Tom Mcdonald in the backline!

You might be right.    He has been a much improved kick as a forward but I think that's more to do with less pressure when delivering the ball inside 50 than him actually improving his field kicking.   If he goes back I do fear he will freeze up and start kicking it straight to the opposition again like he used to when he was a defender.

Luke Jackson has set a new career high disposal numbers, three games in a row:

The numbers are nice but how cool, clean and damaging looks while getting them is even better.  The impact is unreal.

And heres another player comparison -  David Schwarz before the ACL's.   Not in playing style or forward craft, but how the big unit LJ glides and spins around like a ballerina just like Schwarta did.

If dropping 1 game derails our season after a 7-0 start, then we aren't ready for September success, plain and simple.

History says that's exactly what we will do though.   We will find out soon if this really is a 'new Melbourne' or much of the same old.

Don't hate me people, just keeping things in perspective and I do think we will beat Sydney.

Don't flirt with form!  Keep McDonald forward and leave the forward line alone.  They got us to 7-0.

Our forward line is where the most improvement can come from.  We will tinker with it until we get the most potent mix.

Getting to 7-0 is great but we wont win a flag with Tom McDonald as our only key forward.

Fritta is very important, but saying him missing 1 week derails our season is extremely dramatic at best

Losing to the Swans on top of the Viney and Tommo injuries and could derail things for us, we have a very hard run of matches coming.

    We need Fritta to play.

Plenty of midfieldd depth.  Sparrow will be chomping at the bit to get  midfield time in the AFL, he looks ready.

Salem can also move in there if needed,  as we will still have Hunt, Hibberd and Rivers down back for run and Bowey in reserve if needed.

Can also give Kozzie more spot minutes through there.  Also James Jordon can get an increase in minutes, he doesnt get much game time.

And we have Harmes as backup too.

Oh and Luke Jackson goes alright in there too.

This crop is nothing like the team of 2005.  Daniher had a terrible defensive structure and teams would easily score against them.

Before their run of losses that year the conceded:

    dogs 15.21 round 2

    saints 23 goals round 4

    dockers 22 goals round 6

    hawks 19 goals round 8

no wonder they lost the next 7 games. As soon as the pressure dropped sides would pile on the goals.

Alistair Nicholson and Ryan Fergsuon played a good chunk of 2005 in our back line.  Far  cry from May and Lever.

Our midfield was also pretty lazy back then, they had a reputation as downhill skiiers and they were for that whole era really.  One of the main reasons we could never take the next step.
