The only reason I can see McDonald in the team is because he can ruck the forward boundary throw ins and Max can drop a kick behind the play. But why pick McDonald for this role when we have Grundy available. That really makes no sense.

McDonald offered no forward pressure, no aerial contest and was to slow on the lead last week.

    I'm baffled by that decision

I’m tipping TMac to kick 3.

Would Bedford have become the player he is now had he stayed at Melb? Very hard to say.

Ultimately he made the decision and is making the most of his opportunity. We could use the pace but I'm not crying over spilt milk on this one.

Agree. And I would strongly argue to date Chandler has had more stand out games. He’s not up to that level lately, but he’s had some stellar games.

Yet we have boxing and MMA still.

I don't know how those sports get around it.

    But completely agree with you

Agree. Kids don’t play organized MMA though.

Those knockouts are brutal. Brutal. (Having grown up on van Damme etc. I still like watching UFC for it’s skill but my interest is starting to fade maybe)

Also agree re: if Maynard gets suspended it’s only a matter of time for speccies to be next. Maybe all of this - speccies, tackles, hip and shoulder - has to be informed by the result on the other player…you can do it, but you’re risking suspension.

    It’s tricky…

Does that mean we would have 75% odds to win the flag had we won last Thursday?

Our way to a flag has gotten way harder, we had a chance to have one foot on GF day last Thursday.

    Out: JVR In: Grundy
Out: T Mc In: Woey or Spargo (Tracc forward)
    Out: Gus In: JJ

    Possibly
    Out: Hibberd In: Turner/Tommo (matchups)

    Got to go with a forward line of;

    FF: Pickett Grundy Fritsch
    HF: Tracc Smith ANB
    Int: Chandler

That has mobility and skill around Grundy/Gawn as the long bomb target and Smith as the lead up.

If that means a midfield of Viney, Oliver, Sparrow, JJ then so be it.

Tommy could actually be a decent sub, coming on fresh when the pace is out of the game.

    These are good thoughts.

let’s go with something like this. I really think bring back Tomlinson, create the wall again. Bounce off half back.

nothing to lose next week - let’s get on a run. Play with enjoyment and fire.

About to board the train. First rain drops falling. I feel physically ill.

I reckon rain will ease up around first bounce, then a second smaller front will pass through halfway through 2nd quarter. Then not much.

Looking at the rain radar. My brain: looks like the rain will mostly come and go tonight, leaving the ground very damp but actual game will be dry ish. This will enable the Pies to play their game style, but will leave us fumbly with a slippery ball.

I'm not a KISS fan, and agree it is crazy not to book Aaussie bands, but there is one big difference to meatloaf.

Meatloaf was very much a has been and decades past being a top seller.

I heard Gerard Whately say something similar ie kids won't know who KISS are. But in fact he was just showing out of touch he is.

KISS remain huge and continue to find new, young audiences all over the world. They are huge with kids now.

People don't but CDs much anymore, but KISS are making a fortune from streaming.

On spotify they get over 13 million monthly listeners and their most streamed song is I was made for loving you with over 800 million streams.

Those numbers aren't all old foggies reliving their misspent youth. Millions of kids love them.

For the same reason they continue to rake in serious coin with touring . Their last major tour was i think 2019. KISS were the only hard rock act in the top 10 grossing tours in the US that year, coming in at number 7, grossing more that $80 mill US

2019 Top 10 North American Tours

    1. The Rolling Stones ($177.8M gross; 784,652 tickets sold)
    2. Elton John ($157.4M gross; 1,155,510 tickets sold)
    3. Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band ($97.0M gross;, 867,925 tickets sold)
    4. Pink ($87.9M gross; 624,419 tickets sold)
    5. Ariana Grande ($82.6M gross; 700,053 tickets sold)
    6. Jonas Brothers ($81.7M gross; 769,310 tickets sold)
    7. KISS ($81.6 M gross; 800,302 tickets sold)
    8. Fleetwood Mac ($77.5M gross; 544,286 tickets sold)
    9. Garth Brooks ($76.1M gross; 856,000 tickets sold)
    10. Justin Timberlake ($75.6M gross; 568,449 tickets sold)

On top of all of that they continue to make millions annually from merchandise (having more than a billion dollars in merch sales over their career).

    They aint no meatloaf.

I think the Rules you are referring to have been rewritten. The Rule you quote is the 2011 version, there is a 2016 version and there may even be later that I couldn't find.

Of course, any rule can be overridden by an AFL press release at any time , retrospectively if Gil thinks it is a good idea. ( half joking )

*Management reserves the right to change the rules before, during or after each game, including in its interpretation of video footage and how it may or may not be applied, subject to the vibe.

  10. I love Gary, but he really gets on the baggin’ wagon, hey.

Reminds me when the Dees were [censored] and he bagged us, no restraint.

it’s fine, he’s a pundit, but why doesn’t he get in the game as a coach or at least an assistant coach? Has he?

As a fellow-ginger I beg to differ. I think strawberry blonde, freckles or not, is a type of blonde.

Maybe ginger is in the eye of the beholder?
