  1. Whatever happen I just want to make sure that we’re bullet proof when Tasmania’s drafting concessions kick in and in a position to dominate the competition for years to come.
  2. Anything was going to be an improvement on the dog’s breakfast of a jumper we wore last year.
  3. I wouldn't trust Peter Bell to run a bath, let alone a football department.
  4. Poor Darren Burgess. Working for that bunch of amateurs.
  5. We would've kicked 22-7 and beaten Adelaide by 13 goals.
  6. Unfortunately Adelaide are about 6 goals short of not getting overrun in the last quarter.
  7. No sound from the ground. Only the commentators. Weird. I'm guessing they didn't ask James Sicily to promote Wonthaggi.
  8. They're already organising a 10 year reunion for the guys that played in their first six games.
  9. Back in the halcyon days of cheer squads in the 1980's I made a particular point of modelling our look on North Melbourne's. They were still playing at Arden Street in the first half of that decade and were sponsored by Budget, the rental car company owned by their chairman Bob Ansett. All of their flags had the Budget logo, white on blue or vice versa sans one corporate orange one in the centre of them all and they along with their floggers (at least twenty of them) looked magnificent. The white lettering on their run throughs, drawn and cut from cardboard stencils were millimetre perfect and centred perfectly on the blue crepe paper backing. They didn't have the benefit of drafting in professional artists to draw the designs on their finals run throughs like Hawthorn did but were still always perfect. Looking at last night's creation by their descendants made me feel sad. It was more akin to what the likes of Geelong, Footscray and Sydney used to always (and still do) serve up.
  10. Was half expecting to see the team doing sprints in Yarra Park for 30 minutes when I left after the game.
  11. LOL. Swans choke again. Hilarious.
  12. Sydney derby and virtually no sound when GWS kick a goal.
  13. Dogga will be relieved he doesn't need to tell Peter Bell about the family holiday his mum has booked for September.
  14. Bears sleepwalking their way through this one.
  15. A clip just popped up in my youtube feed of that boofhead Eddie McGuire on Footy Classified saying the 715 million they appear to have scraped together will end up being 1.5 billion if they want a roofed 35,000+ seater stadium. Then there's the new club's training facility that needs to be built plus an upgrade to the ground in Launceston if they play any games up there.
  16. I'd be happy to send the Suns to the original Gold Coast in what's now called Ghana.
  17. Hmmm. That would be Ben Mackay but he'd have to be 2 metres tall so would go to either JVR or Schache.
  18. Hi DJ. As much as that concerns me my response related to the inclusion of No.19 up front. I guess their best defender goes to JVR then?
  19. Deary me. I suppose they know what they're doing.
  20. It'll be tough on the boys to back up last night with another game in five days but as a supporter I think it's great that we play again so soon. Can't believe that it's round 7 already though.
  21. I like how the differing views about the Anzac / Anzac Eve games are given their space in this thread without being shouted down. Our night game against Richmond is a fantastic spectacle. More so than the afternoon game the following day. That said I've always felt that they are little more than well spun cash cows for the AFL (and maybe the RSL?) and not an appropriate way to reflect on what the day is about. The same goes for the week long ANZAC narrative on steroids throughout the football media landscape that competes to out gush each other. Sometimes less really is more.
