....winning is going to be very tough, even against Fremantle. I'm feeling safer by the week. However Carlton are a real danger game, moreso than North.

I will feel safer in 3 weeks if we have only won 1 more game. Until then they are all danger games. Note the Bummers were supposed to be fighting to stay in the 8 yesterday and if I hadn't just been watching the Tigers at the G would have said they were atrocious!

Yesterday's game was just laughable. The mistakes in the 3rd quarter were pathetic. I was sitting there at the game wondering how the tigers beat essendon the week before. I admit that game was not worth winning to lose a draft pick. Even my parents who hate me talking about losing walked out of the game saying im not annoyed we lost.

It was interesting to see players play in different positions. I liked Warnock up foward. he led well. Paul Johnson has been played in the backline before so thats nothing new. Bate in the middle was a good idea. Anyway we didn't really tank because we were winning in the last minute and that siren had sounded before that mark was taken. The richmond supporter next to me couldn't believe mcmahon was paid the mark. He also said there was no way in hell he'd kick it.

On another not I thought the crowd figure was really good.

Lastly Jack Grimes is slowly becoming my favourite player. Loved the mark he took in the final quarter and then played on and kicked the goal. He is also a very good kick.

Also sat through the 2nd half and amazed how bad Tigers were!! Dees unable to play that badly now. Much brighter future for MFC!

Clearly MFC tanked yesterday but there is no way any blame or dissatisfaction can be levelled at DB or the FD.

It was uncomfortable for all of us to watch in two minds as to whether we wanted to team to win or not! Had to applaud efforts like Junior's all day and great goals like Pettard's last and Miller's from the boundary (what the hell is 2.0 for the day!!).

The MFC did not make the PP rules and we have suffered the pain of 2 years of very few wins! We have suffered from rules like the centre circle which stiffled Jeff White in the middle but didnt affect any other AFL side as much so why should MFC be shy about taking the advantage of 2 of the first 3 picks in this years draft when it os on offer! Come September it will be 45 years since our last premiership!!!!

As noted on SEN after the game. there is no penalty for tanking and as the AFL (Vlad) has decreed that tanking does not exist impossible to take any action against us!

So whilst the negativity surrounding tanking is sad and refelects badly on the AFL it would be much sadder for MFC not to boost its stock via the PP to ensure we do not go 50 years without a premiership.

I will be taking over the 3 word analysis from now on.

[And finally a point i suggested in a previous thread, Rich was picked at what? Certainly not 1, 2 or 3, in my opinion we need to do the best with the picks we have on the day. Things also happen further down the list.]

True it is still puzzling how Rich was not picked up earlier BUT clearly MFC likely to do better with 2 picks in first 10 than only 1???? We do get 2 of best new players. <_<

Adam Simpson has announced he will play his last game for North Melbourne this Friday night against Carlton. So Kangas may play above themselves for his last game.

Should have lasted another week so they would be up against Dees in round 19. That is increasing as a "danger" game for MFC! :angry:

junior, robbo, wheels and wheatley can all go, they are not part of the long term, junior only one getting a regulat game, if he wasnt captain?

It is amazing how little comment in this post in regard to the other older players. Much of what has been stated on Robbo equally applies to Wheels and Junior & fact he is captain has definitely been a factor. In the case of Junior his effectiveness in the midfield has diminished this year and will further next year as slight slowing of pace means gets caught or less effective disposals more often.

With Wheels its a case of the body starting to fail after all the years of going in hard regardless.

Of the above 4 I think Wheater is the one with the most value for 2010 as he is capable of long and accurate kicking out of defence which means Aaron can be further up field to move it into attack.

So if hard calls are to made on a few let them have farewell game possibly agains Freo (provided that MFC does not win a game before then or otherwise in Rnd 22.

What are the odds from here of:

MFC winning 7 of 7 including beating both Saints (1) and Geelong at cattery (2)?

Freo winning 4 more games??

and Richmond winning 3 more games???

Plus WCE 4 more when they play MFC Freo and Nth Melb in their 7????

Vlad thinks the draft system works well and teams don't tank. Head in the sand stuff! So unlikely there will be any changes to the current system whilst he's in the chair.

I don't think players tank but coaches do. I won't be picking West Coast to win any more games for the rest of the year in my footy tipping.

I think the WCE mystery injuries may be catching!As MFC only played WCE 2 weeks ago may come through to our players over the next 4 weeks. several to be forced to miss 1 - 2 weeks! Including Jamar Warnock Frawley etc.

No point bringing Wonna back early for 1 or 2 weeks only. Get him right for next year and play for Casey if OK. Rest Jurrah and send him back to play with Aussie

Worst umpiring decision I have ever seen at a Melbourne match. Worse than Junior being pinged for deliberate out of bounds some years ago, that nearly cost us the game, or Brock being given a 50m penalty for hitting a plastic chair with the ball on the boundary line.

It was such a bad decision, it was laughable. Whoever was responsible for that little brain fart should not be umpiring this week.

What about the day Stinga got pinged for holding the ball at VFL park when he was already 5 ft over the boundary line when tackled???

Shocking decision, I cannot understand how he came to that decision.

Which of the 3 NON decisions do you mean? As the commentators noted - 1. ran too far (at leas 14 paces after bouncing) 2 was caught trying to take on player and had prior opportunity; and 3 incorrect disposal!!!

PPS. I referred to attacking the club over this issue three times in my post and never said proper discussion should be abolished.

Redleg. I agree with your sentiment about not attacking the club as it is not MFC's fault that we are face with this dilema! Will be accused of tanking regardless! if we only win another game. The MFC can not say anything other than we aim to win all remaining games. In fairness the media has been making the point that this is AFL's making too.

I get the feeling that Bailey understands that it is just as important for the club to not win as it is for him to not say we are trying to not win.

I like your work.

Lets hope the MFC is as meticulous in its management of things over the next 5 weeks as you have been in your observations

I tried updating my Avatar today several times and the site says upload failed.

I have discovered that my existing avatar has been removed somehow and so now dont have one!

Does not make any sense as i can edit my profile information.

Site tells me to contact a member of staff - but who is and how do i get in contact with the staff and whose staff??

I have tried adding pic to this message and it also states error message: "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to ensure the uploads directory is available." also says upload is not within allowed paths. So is a setting on site problem.

Please advise how I can get the new avatart pic onto site!!
