  1. i am sure they are all fine with it too.

Could be the difference between Tippett going to Sydney or back home.

Yep, and good luck to them.... I would rather Tippet go to Sydney than freakin Carlton or Gold Coast.

Couldn't have much more respect for the Swans, they are the only football team in the league that can genuinelly call themselves a club.

  2. We will pick JV regardless of number 3 or 26....

I am incredible proud of what Viney said to the media, tell me you wouldn't be frustrated?

And as much as we all act like he is just like us and loves the club, fact is he doesn't.

Doesn't remember his Dad playing here, moved to Adelaide young, and only ever had a soft spot for Melbourne.

We will pick him and he wants to be here, but the kid is a professional and anybody thinking he will come back in 2 years is kidding themselves, he is not a Melbourne boy.

  3. I'm glad you said that WYL so many talking him up as a gun, which he is far from. Tends to butcher it a bit but has good defensive qualities, runs hard, spreads and provides options as well as doing the 1%ers.

Good fit for the right price

Plus he has shown an ability to step up when he has more responsibility which is very important imo.

  4. FFS guys no team is paying above the cap... not in this day and age, if they could, we would.

Fact is getting Tippet would mean they have accepted the loss of Wellingham and possibly traded Dawes.

Lynch will be on under 300k.

They can also underpay players because they are a succesful side.

Daisy, Swan, Beams, Reid, Dawes, Ball, Wellingham, Pendles.... all of them would be underpaid right now to what they could get in the open market.

  5. Viney will be ours, i can only laugh at anyone suggesting we would not use pick 3 on him

The kid will be the best player from tihis draft, not to mention he loves the MFC and would never leave us like for example, Tom Scully and Scott Thompson

I am not going to come out and say he is going to be the best player from the draft, but from my point of view he is the safest choice out of all the top 10 picks.

  6. MFC recruiters have a duty of care to pick up the best available player at #3 whether it be Viney or not.

Could be another player with all the same attributes as Viney but 10cm taller and with more pace available at #3

We won't know until the day

Again I will say, there is 100% no better inside mid in the draft.... none taller or shorter, faster or slower, Viney is the best inside mid so if you want an inside mid, then you draft Viney.

  7. Bottom line is.... GC could actually use the best inside mid in the draft.

Not forgetting that thanks to us he now also has VFL experience and all the intangibles that make great players.

Any moment of MFC saying we will pick the best available no matter what GC do was just us playing the game trying to fool GC... Bottom line is, GC have so many top line kids and not many tough leaders, they would love Viney at 2.

  8. Why are we lucky that we have pick #4 when we have to use pick #3 on Viney?

Turns our Scully compo basically into pick #13 and pick #26. I would take pick #1 anyday over that.

Because pick 4 and 13 are our compo picks...

If we didn't have those compo picks our draft would have been pick 3 (Viney) and pick 26.

Therefore we are lucky to have pick 4 and 13 so us needing to use a top 3 pick on Viney is not as bad as it could have been.

Plus, as mentioned, Viney is worth pick 5-8 in my mind so all isn't that bad.

  9. I am expecting Shannon Byrnes, David Rodan and Q.Lynch to come in.

Expecting Rivers, Lucas Cook, Jordan Gysberts and Jamie Bennel to leave.

Fine with all of this, with more young picks coming in we can afford to rid ourselves of some failures, and with the Free Agent gets we have solid role players who the team needs until our kids develop.

Lets face it, Neeld cannot afford another season where our kids get destroyed every week.

  10. According to the herald this morning, Geelong are apparently frontrunners.

..... because he knows Andrew Mackie

really? is that all it takes for a player to leave the MFC *sigh*

That and finals, a great culture and the chance to be a really important part of their backline.

Good luck to Jared, has given his all to the MFC and not had alot of success, I really hope to see him playing finals next year.

  11. By bringing in Goddard they are saying they want a premiership in the next 4 years... Can't blame them, thats what you want your club to be doing.

Plus in my opinion the Saints will be silently happy to see him go, former number 1 pick who was not motivated to play well in his later years replaced by a first round pick. Win.
