Geez that must be a blessing in disguise. Stay positive, and maybe consider a name change - rejuvenated dee!!!

Not sure you are correct here. The MFC supports the AFL' s right to maximise revenues thru its use of a fixture. Small clubs do get compensated on a yearly basis. The draft is not a equalisation tool - all evidence points towards the opposite. The salary cap only is an equalisation tool when you take a long-term approach pay 100% every year - think Jake Lever. Spending inside your football department is the only effective equalisation tool - player welfare and giving them the opportunity to reach their maximum potential is our primary road to equalisation. Saying all that, I think your response is tad one-eyed ( now hush, hush which I personally think is good ) But dont forget at times we will have to support the wider AFL community and support the AFL in their agenda. We might not agree, but their is a bigger picture the club has to consider. Classic example - ANZAC eve blockbuster - for some reason our mates at Richmond love playing us long may it continue.
-
Thank god we talked our mates at Tigerland into sharing the ANZAC eve game with us - Go Tigers Go Dees
-
Might also be better for his footy club. But supposedly thats not the case for many at the MFC - oh well such is life.
-
You can turn that negative into a positive very easily - player welfare is critical. The onus goes back onto our whole MFC community. This has been our biggest weakness over the last 2-3 decades. However, thanks to Peter Jackson the club is working hard inside the football department & administration team to solve our issues. I have spoken with him on this topic on a few occasions and his views are very consistent.

I have no problems with a salary cap assuming all clubs are forced to spend a minimum of 100%. Its only an equalisation tool when all clubs do that. But, the difficult comes when you miss out on playing finals, paying the players 100% of cap will get the cheap seats rattling. For the record - clubs should pay AFL funded bonuses if the team makes the final.

Yeah the early 80's was one bad dream - you obviously never sat on those hideously un-comfortable wooden benches. Maybe I never got arrested because the police officers spent most of their time dealing with the "trajects" that elected to stand in a stadium that was more than half empty on a weekly basis. Sounds like you "trajects" where one smart bunch - or so you thought. Sounds also like we have many "trajects" that share their knowledge on Demondland today. I'm happy with the advances in the game and the quality of the facilities we now have courtesy of the AFL.

Yeah Doggies do like to promote they bucked the trend, but think that suits their agenda. Dogs have been pumping huge $$$$ into their FD since Gordon got elected in 2012 ( approx) and it was part of his platform to get elected. Plus lets not forget the huge $$$$ they pumped into Boyd to front load his contract - cough, cough. But, I accept the Doggies have a long way to go to be considered big spenders over many decades.

White Shorts - very commercial entity. I like the commercial value of rotating your clash jumper - sometimes you will get it right, sometimes you will get it wrong, you will never please all of the supporters all of the time. Personally, dont care one way or the other, for those that do care, hope they get the colour combination that they want.
-
Lets be honest Biff - Those were the days you didn't get arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the Southern "Comfort" Stand. You (I) would spend most of the game pulling the splinters out our arrsse .. those were the days. The kids of today just dont understand the small luxuries of life - shivers today, the Southern Stand has corporate boxes with TV's and Fridges - with seats that are a pleasure to sit in. Just out of interest did we have a "clash" jumper in the 80's?
-
The formula is well known its just a matter of finding the big dollars to execute it. Money sadly does not grow on trees at the MFC.
-
Betting agencies are always "on trend" thats their job. It has been suggested - If you know how to exploit that the more you bet the more you win. If you dont know how to exploit that your money is set to head into their pockets over the long run.

You never know - but Gus is on the come back trail, expecting a big year from the young man. Hope he can get his body right and deserves all the rewards for the hard work he puts in. Go Gus Go Dees

But at the end of the day we are only discussing a clash jumper, we are merely doing what is requested by AFL H/O. IMHO the best thing about the current Admin is they consistently understand not to bite the AFL's hand that feeds us. Supporters on the other hand are much more tribal and want to vent their feelings - you will never please all of the supporters all of the time. However, its critical to please the AFL all of the time.
-
Nothing wrong with having an opinion - well said. I remember celebrating nearly every one of those wins and the last thing on my mind was the colour of the jumper. Some people on Demonland are Time rich - have way too much time to whinge about nearly everything related to MFC. However, maybe thats the sign of the times & social media. People have the opportunity to vent, whinge, whine in anonymity - yet have never been involved with the club and dont understand the real issues.
-
WTF - Mate I'm happy every time we win. (full-stop) You are starting to sound like a previous CEO we had - next you will have the players wearing ridiculous school boy blazers!! Its a professional sport - but saying all that I appreciate they are people like you who do care. But the days of playing for the "jumper" are gone long ago.

GW is a proven performer, way better for generating advertising revenues. Anybody has to be better than that idiot Bartlett he is from a different era and has no concept of modern day football. Bartlett appeals to the dumb-ass, bolted on "fanboys" that just dont understand AFL footy circa 2018. However, saying that he does have a good dynamic with DR Turf who does belittle him well. I gave up consistently listening to SEN 3-4 years ago, it has so many traits similar to footy forums - Would I listen again 50/50 but not at this stage.
-
You nailed it where our major problem sits, exactly what has been one of our biggest problems in the last 20 years. However, think we are thru that phase now, club is a far more positive environment circa 2018. Think club has learned ( all be it very slowing) to ignore the negativity from certain supporters and remain positive and upbeat at all times. Very bright future ahead.

Could not give a rats clacker what we wear - If we make a grand final and wear it would I buy one - Yes 100% I would If we make the finals and wear it would I buy one - Yes 100% I would Would I buy one irrespective of what happens in the season - 50/50 Go Dees

Sponsorship is a two way street - generally you look for positive communities, young vibrant and forward thinking with the propensity to spend, spend, spend. I'm not sure that is our claim to fame as a community - dare I use the word negative !!!

How Good Draft Choices Can Make or Break an AFL Team
DaveyDee replied to Demonised's topic in Melbourne Demons
Oh if you only knew the truth - Tigers road to success was "challenging" but we enjoyed every minute, every up and down and I didnt even barrack for them. However, when you believe in something the head can overrule the heart. -
How Good Draft Choices Can Make or Break an AFL Team
DaveyDee replied to Demonised's topic in Melbourne Demons
The key sentence in the whole document is "a partial explanation" - there is no long term evidence to suggest drafts are an equalisation tool in AFL football. In reality the opposite is the case - drafting errors are symptomatic of far deeper problems. Drafting "success" in todays game - is a combination of many other key factors ironically the roadmap to success was created by the Port Adelaide football club in the early 2000's. The model still holds true today. -
An interesting listen of an outsider's perspective of our list
DaveyDee replied to grazman's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have a very bright future in a very competitive environment. -
FYI Lite & Easy used to sponsor the Tigers - they were the coach sponsor to be precise. Dima was a ripping bloke yet had a good sense of humour about his sponsor. However, original owners sold out and I have a feeling it was to a Hawthorn supporter - but dont quote me on the second part - hehehehe No Ive never been a member of Lite & Easy, no I dont work for Lite & Easy.

Preseason Training - Week commencing 4/12/17
DaveyDee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not a problem - I only had time to do one lap so I focused on the language used by coaches Mission, McCartney & Rawlings who are were running different group sessions on different parts of the ground. Each coach was running a completely separate drill. OMG - OMG - OMG - its all consistent, its all positive instant feedback one on one or two, three & four on one coach. If the coach picks something up he pulls them up - no joke says about 10 words and gets them back into it. Everything is done at an intense pace - the language short sharp and too the point. Heaps of nicknames, heaps of encouragement from fellow team mates, a few four letter words - then we keep that ball moving at high speed.
