MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 13
CanberraDemon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hey I noted Neil 'The Reverend' Daniher barracking for us on Channel 7 last week on multiple occasions. Who could ask for a more revered reverend than that? -
AFL.com.au click bait states "a star saint in doubt" but you when I clicked through to the story I find out that it's only Joke Carlisle who is in doubt to play... Also an update to my post last night that Mitchell had been reported, it was actually Selwood reported for striking Mitchell (not the other way around), but Mitchell still likely to be looked at by MRP for his attempt to strangle Selwood in response... (If only MRP stood for Melbourne Review Panel - he'd be out for sure.)
-
Clubs and players have their cliches so here's some other mangled cliches to help answer your question: If you're not looking at the big picture then you're not seeing the woods for the trees
-
AFL Nation radio commentary team reporting Mitchell was actually reported in the 1st quarter for striking Selwood
-
Thanks for reminding me how glad I am that the mute button on my TV works
-
Selwood stops and appeals for deliberate and the ball doesn't even go out - capital L Loser!
-
Haven't seen Lewis Jetta consistently hit targets like that for a number of years. Scary good.
-
Don't forget which team he's playing next week!
-
dl4e - Why did you censor the word Pussycats?
-
And Mitchell for his strangle on Selwood
-
And so it begins - Selwood gets a free for tunneling a West Coast player
-
Gotta be the most over-rated 'special' comments man in the media!
-
Still recovering from watching Watts more significant moment over the Pies than they ever managed against him!
-
Phew - I was trying to work out who we'd drop off the list to try and squeeze him in!
-
This shows how the game was won and lost really. We had a more consistent team performance across the ground (as we usually do) whereas Collingwood relied more on 2 or 3 to win it for them (as they usually do).

Oh La Dee-vina, when are you going to learn that you can't trust everything on the internet!!! Surely Demonland is the one and only true source

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 12
CanberraDemon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. Trac (4 qrtr effort and a couple of brilliant acts kept us in it in the 2nd quarter - and what about his underground handball when he was in for a centre bounce during the 3rd qtr that led to Melksham's goal) 5. Jones (Led from the front with a big effort to get us back into it) 4. Tyson (Was another key player in the 2nd to help keep us in it - and given his role I tend to forgive his clangers more than others do on here) 3. Hibberd (Really stood up to the constant pressure down back) 2. Garlett (I think this is his best year ever, better than his best year at Carlton) 1. Watts (Stood up when he needed to with both that goal and that touched ball for Collingwood's shot on the last line in the very next play - would have got more but he seemed unsettled early due to the early game injury and let it affect his kicking at goal for a bit there). Missed out - Hunt (just a little off with his kicks this week, but that happens every now and then), Clarrie (looks like he's starting to trust his ability to kick out of a pack and not just handball - this could be very important later in the year) -
Pies fans want out of QB Big freeze match

Exactly! Who needs to "find a reason to slag Eddie" when so many reasons just jump out front and centre to say 'pick me'! -
Jack Watts Is Better With Titanic

@Denelska & @Luther Even though some may like it, you should both be permanently banned for killing my ears with that [censored] stupid song!!! -
And don't forget that the Dogs play with a smaller forward line than most, which also lends itself to a tall out if Gawn or Spencer play. T-Mac has been better at his ruck role than down forward, but I think Pedo's experience as a back-up ruck counts for more (at least he tries to get in front at boundry throw ins whereas T-Mac tries to play from behind like he's spoiling a marking contest). In terms of who should come in, I don't like the idea of bringing Max back at Etihad, even though he plays well there. So I would opt for Spencer in as he will also likely need less time resting forward than Max and so would be less of an imPedoment to Pedo playing forward. As for the smalls people are suggesting should go out: Bugg is getting closer to having a standout performance and if given an assurance that he has at least another month to prove himself, seems the type to do so (like Hannan has done over the last month). ANB did butcher the ball in tight but he's learning quickly - even within games. Melksham shutting down Pendles in the 1st half was extremely critical, he was also one of the key reasons we got going against the suns too so he needs to disprove himself more than that if he's to get dropped. Harmes had a quieter day but still did enough to keep his spot. So in short I wouldn't be making a change here, because the players in the VFL haven't been kicking the door in for long enough (yet). So for me: IN: Spencer OUT: O-Mac purely for team balance reasons, because he'd probably come straight back in for our game with the Eagles if Kennedy is back for them. (then we'd get to drop a small)

Personally this was my second favourite moment of the game, behind Jack Watts sealer. Would have been number 1 if it was anyone else but Dunny. Was great to see him just going full on at it. His confidence is growing. This just proves what others have been saying about him getting into the right position at the right time. He was also burnt twice that I saw during the game so could have ended with 4. I think in the same way that some earlier this year were calling for Hannan to go back to the VFL but then he came good, Bugg looks like he is close to having a breakout game. I'd hate for him to be in the VFL when that happens.

I think having a ruck back will help TMac and Jack Watts as they both were looking tired leading into the bye. Jack will also benefit with having Pedo or Hogan in the forward line with him to take pressure off and forcing the opposition backline to have to man up on additional useful tall (in the case of Pedo and even more so in the case of Hogan). Trac admitted on the weekend that he was starting to struggle by the time the bye came around - so we need to take this into consideration for all of our younger players, of which we have quite a few. Don't want to end up like the last couple of years where we end up with too many players being fatigued at the same time.

Supposedly tagging Pendles
-
And you didn't drop by for a beer. I'm insulted!
-
I'll let him pull out his strut after his 3rd at the 21 minute mark of the first quarter puts us 6 goals up!
