No reason we can’t beat Port & the Crows at Adelaide, on evidence to date we have the measure of those clubs. Likewise GWS. My concerns are injury, and the Sydney & WC games, they both possess the firepower to punish us.
-
They’ll be fresher, about their only chance if we don’t bring our game.

The Blues are/were until recently a power club, the AFL will be far more likely to help them than a club like us.

Win against the bombers has given them confidence, imo we would have to have a really off day for them to get near us, if we play like we did against the suns I expect a similar result
That’s my primary concern, the mental side of things. They’ll be brimming with confidence, and we’re still considered to be mentally fragile enough that every lower team targets their fixture with us as a bankable 4 points. I’m hoping we’ve overcome that particular handicap (which I think we have this year with our trend of beating teams that were ranked below us). Sunday will be more evidence either way.

Carlton supporters on big footy are a funny bunch, some suggesting silvagni to come in and play on Oliver in the middle, but the kicker is they think he could actually beat him
The thing is they seem pretty confident that they’ll beat us across every line of the park. They seem to believe bringing in Murphy will automatically level their midfield with ours.

Neeld puked all over Melbourne. Couldn't believe eddendrug would have him as a coach. Maybe a decision they made whilst getting off on crack. Don't care about Neeld or essendrug.
Wasn’t he hired by Bomber Thompson when Hird was suspended?

Funny thing is a lot of their problems are down to list management- their midfield lacks ball winners, they haven’t drafted any inside mids and they traded in players for positions they didn’t need filled rather than going for midfielders. I would have thought Dodoro and his list management should be most in the gun tbh.

St Kilda are rubbish. The goal umpire calling a score review on a behind because she felt sorry for them just about sums up their first half. Freo are playing in third gear and still comfortably up.

Can you tell me what happened.
?
Pushed the umpire with flat of his hand- not much in it but same force as Hawkins slap away last week which saw him cop a ban.
-
Did what we had to do and now look forward to next week. If Hawkins this week was a precedent setter then Curnow is looking at a spell for next week’s match.

is he wrong, though?
Yes he is, if Carlton beat Essendon the knives will be out. Goodwin bought himself a small reprieve from the headlines with comprehensive wins against two poor teams, Carlton have been utter garbage and if they beat Essendon the press will go bananas.
-
One of the few players to improve under Neeld, his 2013 was excellent. While his cameo vs Essendon was certainly memorable his best game was against the Hawks that year, they did us by 90 something points but he kept Buddy to a solitary major.

Gus should be up there with T & O Mac as priority 1s to re-sign. He’s a gem of an inside midfielder, Chunk’s natural replacement and more naturally talented to boot (with all due respect to Jonesy who’s a club legend and was our heart and soul in the dark years).

Realistically
2 losses to adelaide
loss to port, wce and probably freo (even though they were pus today), SYDNEY, cats, pies
win against gws and others
miss the 8 and rue Max's r1 miss and hawks tigers floggings and not flogging bombers saints
Based on yesterday’s evidence and our good record in Adelaide we should beat Port. Sydney & Geelong are both gettable too as are the Eagles. Jury out on Collingwood they’ve started well but not sure they’ll continue that run.

Brayshaw’s kicking on either side is generally average, a game high 8 turnovers today supports that as fact. If you think his tackling was fine rewatch the third quarter, StKilda players were walking straight through him.
Hmm flip side of that means he was going at 75% disposal efficiency.

Kicking better today and snagged a goal.

ANB out for Salem is the easiest decision in the world.
One of either Harmes or Tyson for Viney.
Tyson went alright today, his kicking was better and he hit the scoreboard, would make little sense to drop him after a performance like that. Give Vince a rest maybe as we’re playing in subtropical conditions next week and give Jones a spell off HBF. Young midfield is starting to gel with Oliver and Brayshaw, Petracca will be better for the run, Viney for Vince would be my only change. Maybe Salem too for ANB but again I thought ANB was better than previous weeks and no point rushing back injured players.
-
Barely got out of third gear and still smashed them. Petracca was underdone, still waiting on Viney to come back and Salem was out injured. Don’t think anyone played poorly and Lever is building in confidence. No OTT celebrations at the end either, they got the job done and are now looking forward to the next game. We’re building into the season.

Head says we should win by 6-7 goals, MFCSS says we lose, cop a couple of injuries and McCartin kicks a bag.

All class, creating their banner for the purpose of sledging an injured player.

Burning question for the day - will it be Daniher or Stringer that we play back into form?

If we lose to Essendon I’ll drink. A lot.

Blast from the past I know, but at the Freo game with in-laws and noticed they’re using this ohrase on their handheld flags. Curious as to whether they picked this one up from the Demon Army as I’ve never seen it before.
