  1. Final changes- In: Viney, T.Smith Outs: Tyson (Omitted) Weideman (Injured) YEAH BOYS GET HYPE BULL IS PLAYING I TOLD YOUSE
  2. I talk Bull up a lot (and for good reason) and people may think I give him too much credit. But lets look at his stats from the previous few VFL games. v Box Hill (Played Forward) 3.3 goals, 20 Disposals, 10 marks, 7 Tackles v Geelong (Played Midfield) 25 Disposals (Most for Casey), 12 Tackles v Werribee (Played FWD/MID) 1.1 Goals, 12 Dispoals (10 kicks), 9 Tackles v Coburg (Played Forward) 2.4 Goals, 24 Dispoals, 6 marks, 2 Tackles Has been in the Best On most weeks and an emergency for most games I believe. But the numbers really stack up especially his previous 2 weeks. This is also coming off a limited preseason. Bull is playing the best football of his life and deserves AFL games.
  3. Midfield and Forward. Mostly forward on the weekend and was unreal. Took 10 marks, including 2 hangers, a couple of goals and plenty of tackles.
  4. Harmes has been thrown in the ruck a few times and done okay so maybe that’ll be the plan to allow Bull to play?
  5. Exactly. If what Goodwin says is true about rewarding Form, Bull HAS to come in over Pedersen.
  6. Weid out Injured. T. Smith or Pedo to come in? Based off form Bull should definitely get the gig
  7. Unfortunately I am working tonight and won't be able to provide a Casey report
  8. Sammy’s ruck craft at Casey this year was very good. Jeffy I think would be a replacement for Spargo, so not sure where Bull would come in, but then again Spargo hasn’t done anything wrong in the Seniors so I don’t see him getting dropped.
  9. No. Weideman is the backup Ruck, and Bull can't ruck. I don't really know where Smith will fit into the AFL side, but he's playing too well in the reserves to be left out. I guess that's actually a really good sign, when players can't get a Senior gig purely because the Seniors are playing too well.
  10. This is a very interesting discussion. I guess I'll put forward my opinions on the individual players being discussed, and you guys can take from that what you will. Hunt isn't in form at the moment but obviously we have seen what he is capable at doing at AFL level. Wagner can play that half-back role strongly too when he is up and about, and don't forget this is only his third year after being Rookie drafted, so he should continue to get better. J. Smith has been killed with injuries but yesterday started to play some much better footy, I think he could do the Lewis/Vince role pretty well, with an added bonus of his fantastic aerial skills. JKH isn't a backman and I don't think he has the skillset to do the Jetta role. Frost, I think, still has room for improvement and he has shown some good signs at AFL level. As for the guys yet to debut, Johnstone is being trialed down back at the moment but unfortunately it looks like he may not ever get to AFL standard. Baker has been super impressive, and is very versatile. Can play half-back, wing and half-forward which could be very useful in the AFL. Petty has shown good signs as a Key Defender, which is probably the hardest role to fill in the game. And it's hard for me not to be biased with Keilty, but if he strings together a few good games over the next month or two he will be in contention for AFL selection. I don't think it's going be necessary to change up players roles to suit the backline, as there are a number of defenders in the VFL doing well and if it comes to the point where Lewis and Vince need replacing, the defenders we already have in reserve should be able to step up into the job.
  11. Here was Bull's specky. Camera angle isn't the best as it looked much better live.
  12. Against a rampaging Box Hill, Casey once again managed to show why they are so hard to beat at home, with the inclusion of some much needed AFL talent this week. Box Hill pushed numerous times but Casey defended strongly and ran the game out to finish on top for a great weekend for the Melbourne Football Club. Here was my take for the individual players. Viney - Played probably about 70% game time. Was tagged hard whenever he stepped onto the ground but was just a class above. As long as he pulled up okay it will be great to see the Co-Captain back playing AFL next week. Bugg - Solid. Popped up a few times to kick some goals, but nothing spectacular. Stretch- His best game this year. 31 touches and unlike previous weeks actually did a lot with the ball. Frost - The 3 tall defenders were great all game and Frosty was very solid. Couple of nice grabs and spoils and dashes from the back half. Pedo - Pretty decent game, although probably should've held a few more marks. Hunt - Got better as the game opened up but made a lot of mistakes, struggling for form a bit at the moment. JKH - Hasn't been getting the ball this season as much as he used to but he played predominately forward today and was good. Garlett - His best game at VFL level. Lively up forward and through the midfield. Set up a few goals from some nice kicking. Johnstone - Is playing defence and I didn't really notice him, but the Coach gave him some nice praise after the game. T.Smith - Was best on ground behind Stretch for mine. Took some impressive marks, including a great screamer on the wing and was great up forward. J . Wagner - Solid again. Used mostly off half back and used the ball well. J . Smith - Really good in the air today which he wasn't against Geelong, good game. Keilty - Hopefully today spurs Dec into some form because he was very good. Got to a lot of contests with some good spoils and did well when the ball hit the deck, just needs to hang onto a couple more marks to take his game to the next level. Filipovic- Pretty good in the ruck against some big Hawks boys, still developing. Balic - First game back after about 3 weeks and was pretty good without being great. Petty - Very good in defence today, took a couple of really strong marks. Baker - Continuing on from his strong start to the season. Today was a great, high level game of football and with the Seniors in some good form at the moment hopefully the players down at Casey can keep up with them and be knocking on the door.
  13. Nah Frost was very solid, pretty sure I mentioned him a couple of times
  14. Probably no one, I don’t think Goodwin would disrupt a winning side too much. But Bulls last month has been really strong.
  15. Casey run out the game brilliantly to win at home 16-15-111 to BH 11-6-72 Will do a full write up later tonight
  16. Stretch with a nice rover and snaps from 25m out Casey finishing strongly and are 15-12-102 to BH 11-6-72 not long left
  17. Bull with another scrapper off the ground in the square Casey 14-12-96 to BH 10-6-66
  18. Bull has been fantastic, HAS to be close to a call up. Kicks another goal and Casey lead 13-12-90 to BH 10-6-66 with about 10 mins to go. Viney had a great 5 minutes.
  19. The three big defenders Keilty Frost and Petty have been great
  20. Viney tried to kill someone which results in a down field free and a goal to BH Bull before that had a amazing tackle then kick while lying in the ground to get a great goal. Wagner gets killed a contest, bleeding everywhere but is okay
  21. 3/4 time Casey lead 10-11-71 to BH 7-5-47 Great quarter from Casey. Stretch playing well, forwards working together better, defence has been strong especially Keilty and J Smith. Should be pretty confident going into the last term.
