(play football manager, manage AFC wimbledon and try and sign Wayne Rooney and see what happens!) theres no problem with this working in afl except that in soccer the richest clubs stay at the top - and we are trying not to let that happen in afl because we want an equal competition (which is why the afl currently gives compensation for a player that leaves)

this rarely happens though - most clubs will sell a player in January if their contract ends in june (obviously at a much reduced price, but thats better than getting nothing) if we had a mid season transfer period clubs would do the same.

so when the bombers lose their court of arbitration for sport appeals against the bans handed down by asada (and i know im fast forwarding massively here, but thats what will end up happening i think - they will lose their fed court appeal, asada will issue show cause notices and then bans, and essendon will appeal them) will everyone sit back and go, well, hirdy and essendon actually did all that? or will they say "ASADA are useless" as a result of all the negative spin press that essendon have generated? i mean, we have media suggesting that we should break away from WADA ffs.

If it turns out as we all suspect and essendon have systematically doped their players they SHOULD be kicked out of the league for a couple of years. However the 9 games is too valuable. They will come up with some solution so that club can keep playing. Might involve them having to get complete unknowns to play but they will figure out a way
