SO. lets get this all straight. Essendon players have taken banned substances (as admitted by jobe Watson himself). Andy D finds out that they have been investigated by the ACC and RINGS ESSENDON TO TELL THEM. Essendon come forward less than a week before the ACC has a press conference (timing, or did they have the press conference because Essendon came forward?) basically whats gone on here is that Essendon have cheated, AD has just about died because he knows without a competitive Essendon in the comp for a few years crowd figures (and hence his bonus) will be down, so he tells Essendon and goes into bat for them. if this is what has happened, AD needs to go and not work in the afl again. if Essendon are not given a HUGE whack for systematically taken banned drugs, the consequences will be massive for the entire game.

The only case I am aware of where someone was excused having a performance enhancing drug put into their system was when it was administered while the patient was unconscious in surgery.

Judging by what wada have said I dont think itll matter if they have a letter or not.

By the way, this case is the exact reason they have a catch all "not approved for human use" category. Let's say i invent a new super drug. It hasnt been certified fit for human use but no matter, I've got $ to make so I go to Mr. Dank and say, "mate ive got this amazing new drug, you should give it to the players." He rings ASADA who of course say its not on the prohibited list (which it isn't). Players take the drug. This is cheating. It is also unsafe! My drug contains bleach, cyanide and some rat poison. But ASADA don't have it on their prohibited substances list. This is why the not approved for human use clause is so important. It's not rocket surgery.

Unless they have written permission from asada that they could take the drug, they need bans. Not fines Not point deductions 2 year player bans. "But the doc said it was ok" So did lance armstrongs doctor. "But it wasnt performance enhancing" Why take it then? Why is it banned? the reasons we are garbage have nothing to do with the fact that priority picks are given out to teams that are garbage - which we most certainly are. fixing the club also needs to happen (duh). but that is irrelevant to the fact that we are no good and have not been any good for a long period of time. we are begging for help because WE OBVIOUSLY NEED HELP. the PP is there to help! not giving us a PP would be like saying "yeah you need help, but we aren't going to give you something that helps". the equivalent is having a child that cant read, but saying "yeah you need help, but we aren't going to give you extra reading tuition because you've made mistakes in the past." lastly, a footy club at this level is about the supporters. forget the players etc, they are all there to make us happy and come along to games. the SUPPORTERS need the HOPE of a PP.
