  1. Rather than everyone defending their right not to go because of football or funerary commitments, and the rest of the people here whinging about finding expletives to use against the rest of our supporters, why don't we start to think of ways to try and get more melbourne fans to the games

i think this would be a much more worthwhile thread that, if we find enough reasons, we can send to the club to be helpful instead of chasing our tails

    spot on

  2. I think some people have missed the point of the thread. I'm not asking people to defend themselves. Lets all use some common sense. I mean if you have Sunday junior footy, a family commitment or even had a massive night before and cant stomach walking to the MCG is no-ones business but your own. But that is irrelevant anyway. I'm talking as group. Collectively. I am making a general comment on the fact that I honestly believe that the future of this clubs rests in the hands of the supporters. As as such we need to be there for the good and the bad. In any case, I look forward to watching the Dees play every week, no matter how much I curse, rant, rave and despair at various points in time. Hopefully the majority out there feel the same.

Explaining why you were absent from the game is a perculiar thing to do in the context of this thread imo. Please don't misunderstand me, I am not a bitter member who goes to every game year in year out. And judges people who don't do the same.

For the record, being a MelbourneFC forum, I legitimately believe those on here enjoy going to the footy and do so often. And not only to "support" but for their own enjoyment (hopefully).

And I'd also like to add that the roar of the crowd when Robbo kicked a goal, the cries of delight when Davy stepped on the pedal, the cries for blood when Moloney put Buddy on his ass, the approval from the crowd when Holland came off, the applause for Green and the many other courageous players on who Sunday backed into a pack and finally, the acknowledgement and thanks the crowd (including many Hawkers) gave to our champion Neita, made me as proud as I have been in a long time to support this great club.

    Go Dees!

  3. I was in my reserved seat for the game as per usual. Why didn't you buy me a beer "weapon"???? That is the real tragedy!

Since I was in a rather large round with a few mates, next time introduce yourself and you might get in on it...

    pahhh you guys...

try wearing the full kit and sitting in the stands at a freo home game... and being the only sound out there when we kicka goal lol and have 30,000 blokes with no teeth turn and snarl at ya...

they trash ya car and everything if you have demon stickers at teh game lol

so i take my bike lol

its the weirdest feeling not like any melb game its like crickets when they arent winning .. then they fight amongst themselves as the natives get restless..

Add one more to the southern stand next week fella's i'll be back

    lol, much respect.

  4. This is a non-issue. Please do not discuss it. Relocation has never been on the radar, and just because a single person decided to mentioned it, doesn't mean it should become an issue. My two cents anyway.

  5. Unfortunately Golly, the Hawthorn supporters did turn up today, I sit in the Southern stand and looking accross at our reserved seats in the new stand they were only one third full. The greatest servent of the since Robbie Flower retires and not even our members show up. I bagged Jeff Kennett on Friday but after today he had every reason to line us up.

To all you band wagon front running supporters you not only missed your chance to say good bye to Neita but you also missed a snapshot of our future, and it was extremely positive.

    Well said.

  6. I'm not going to waste much more of my time talking because all MelbourneFC and everyone to do with it seem to do is talk.I will get straight to the point.

What an embarrassment that only 40k turned up today. Not only farewell someone whose heart beats truer than any of us, but make a statement to all concerned, that this this proud club is not going anywhere. Ever. In this humble supporters opinion I think its an absolute disgrace. Don't bother voicing your opinion, lamenting our poor season, judging our coach, president, football department or players past and present, if you can't turn up to a Melbourne v Hawthorn game on a Sunday, when not only are we farewelling a true champion of our club, a person who embodies everything which should be MFC, but when our pride is at stake. Understand the future of MFC is in the hands of the supporters. No one else. Understand that.

  7. Hear hear to all those who has posted. Without a doubt the greatest and most valuable Melbourne player of recent times.

You played footy the way it should be played in the Red and Blue - in every sense.

    All the best post footy.

    Go Dees.

  8. Long time lurker, I finally had to say something. I flew across the ditch from NZ for family business and convince my father to take me the game on Sunday. My grandfather played for this great club, my grand mother was in the stands every weekend, I buy 3 memberships each year for my mother father and myself and my whole family hearts beats red and blue.

Pre game I was kinda embarrassed for the club, not many people there, kinda lame rousing of emotions with the trumpeter and spruiker and felt like we were at a very low ebb. By half time I though all the articles and forums were right and this club was dying. I leant across to my old man who was struggling and said "If this doesn’t get better soon I am taking you home."

The last half of footy is something I will take with me for the rest of my life. I screamed my throat horse, my father grew with pride, and I think I saw something that was lacking for at least 2 years. Some bloody heart and soul. Some pride in the history and the jumper. And some bloody support from the crowd.

I really don’t care if it was the game plan that stuck, or some players stepping up (Miller, Jarmar etc). What I care about there was 18,000 Demons fans there making the noise of 50,000. There was a chilling atmosphere and was proud to fly the scarf out the window all the way home.

There are tough times ahead but what I wanted to say is support this club. You can see what a difference it made on the weekend. Get behind the players, stop your finger pointing, pay your membership and get on board.

    GO DEES

    Fantastic post mate

  9. "one of the worst teams in the last decade"

It is absolutely true that the performances of the team in the first 6 rounds were that of one of the worst teams in the last decade. I have no issue with what he said

That doesn't make much sense to me. The past 6 rounds are not indicative of an entire decade.

I do have an issue with what he said.

  10. Ooze/Col lover, read this:

"MFC seems to have a "messiah" complex - we're always waiting for our hero. We had Robbie F leading the team, then even after the merger we threw all our eggs in the Joe basket, we begged for Juddy to come home, and now we're waiting on a number 1 pick to lead our charge up the ladder. Problem is individuals don't matter if they are just individuals - it's a team game. Our drafting and preparation should occur with a "whole team" viewpoint."

Seems to relate to your post quite well

    Spot on....see sig.

  11. man pavllich is terrible at winning the game in the death

    couldnt do it last week

    same this week

from where i sat, he was single handedly keeping them in the match. and came relatively close to winning it for them....

brad miller you star.....loved the tough stuff! more importantly love your game. stood up today and played like a man

    wonna you star!

bruce....absolutely fantastic....vocal....lead by example...could captain my club permanently if this is how he consistently goes about his footy

and plenty of others i cant be bothered mentioning.

one of my big philisophies in footy is that you need to make each individual player from the opposition feel like they are playing directly against 18 blokes, not just his own opponent. i saw this for half the day today.

  12. What a game, What a win. I am so happy i went. I went with my bro, he said we should leave at half time... i said wait a bit and look what happened. I'm so proud of the boys. Cant wait to read the paper tomorrow.

that was my thought to. a monday paper ill actually enjoy reading for once!

  13. There isn't really a need for Moloney.

Then we would have Mcdonald, Mclean and Jones with him, not enough pace.

I know I want those 3 before Moloney.

The question then becomes, why did we draft him?

For the record, I have much respect for Moloney. He seems to put in more yards that a lot of the others.
