  1. At risk of boring you all to tears, at 191cm and 78kg he is still too small and too weak to be a better than average footballer.

I know this has been said ad nauseum, but the fact no one at the club has managed to get the kid to put on size and strength is amateurish, not to mention embarrassing. This is a professional sports club and strength and conditioning should be it's bread and butter. You don't need Mission nor the Lexus Centre to get strong. You don't even need to be a gifted athlete. This is a reflects on the club more than young Cale.

If anyone tells me James Hird was a rake and Cale needs to plays like Jimmy; JH was two centermetres shorter and 11kg heavier. If anyone tell me strength and size will compromise endurance, they need to do some (intelligent) reading.

You can talk about culture, skills, potential, recruitment, development, the press and a whole lot of other [censored] that can't be quantified let alone understood, but increase Cale's squat by 50 kg, deadlift by 50kg and bench by 20kg (assuming he lifts at all) and he will be improve his game significantly.

  2. Thanks for clearing that up mate, it did sound like you were arguing something different initially.

R_K, I know probably twice as many non MCC members who do not sign up to their "beloved club" than MCC members who don't. It's a useless thing to say and doesn't prove anything.

The facts are they believe around 30,000 MCC members follow Melbourne. (Note: this is not LOVE mfc, this is not go every week, this is just a supported team).

Around 8,000 of these are MFC members from memory.

If our supporters base is around 200,00 that means MCC members take up about 1/7th of our total supporter base, and 8,000 of our 30,000 members are MCC members, totalling over 25%.

That means that 14% of a singular supporter base make up over 25% of our total membership.

I'd think twice before mindlessly having a go at MCC/MFC supporters, and not just place them all in the same category.

If you have issue with MCC members not becoming club members, then you should maintain that issue with the 150,000 other Melbourne supporters who aren't members.

We need to mend ties with the MCC, not attack segments of its membership when you know nothing of their back story.

Perhaps many of them only attend 1-2 games a year as a social exercise. Many other fans do the same and do not buy memberships, MCC members don't have to pay to get into the ground (over the extravagent amount they've already paid for membership) and they may not see the need for a membership, especially as it doesn't help get access to any other games).

It is unfair to place a singular group of supporters into one basket over any other group, especially as their input to the club already outweighs its statistical share, is on the increase (i believe) and probably containts many members who have contributed (large ammounts) to the Debt Demolition.

I'd like to know how many of the 21,000 other memberships our club has sold, would have been sold if they didn't grant access to any games

Thank you for bringing some balance (and sense) to this issue. I agree wholeheartedly.

  3. That is only my opinion on the two options.

That said, why are we forced to choose a white clash strip? I don't understand why teams like Essendon can get away with their design and we have to come up with something like that (yes, yes a constitution you say). Do the AFL bully the MFC? What other decisions (perhaps recent) have the AFL hand their hand in? I don't know. I can only speculate. Yes, I am sceptical of our relations with the AFL.

The filth don't take any [censored] from the AFL...the scum that is Esssendon don't take any [censored] from the AFL. It is the MFC that shouldn't be taking [censored] from ANYBODY. But, I digress... the MFC have their reasons. The board knows more about our circumstances that anyone us. Maybe we are forced to cut our loses and loose this battle (and a few more to come). I understand that. As long as we win the war.

  4. Melbourne Demons

    MCG

    Red Blue

That or nothing else. If MFC ever disappear, merge or relocate, a big part of my life will disappear forever. And I will not be holding back on anyone who even contemplates any those three things. And that includes those this thread.

Please do not say you will follow any sort of these "teams." You will only break my heart.

  5. Surprised you guys didn't see this coming.

Anyway, lot's of positives out of that first half so far. Valenti has played well, Buckley and CJ have continued good form, Garland is holding up strong down back, Davey is all class and Miller is leading well.

    lol

  6. You really are a dill, Mo. He's an 18 year old kid that shows genuine class and an ability to find space, yet you say he "seems lost". He won the Larke medal for best in last year's u/18 TAC carnival and was renowned for his skills, especially by foot. He's 192cms and 79 kilos which means he can't yet hold his ground in one on one contests, or break tackles. These things effect his confidence and decision making. The pace of the game has never been quicker and he's still feeling his way. His turn of speed is excellent and as he bulks up and gains experience all the natural attributes he possesses will ensure his footy improves.

There are so many footy stupid supporters on this site it makes me cringe.

I agree. It frustrates me to no end.

  7. You hardly make a convincing case. All 3 played their junior and AFL football as kpps. Croad and Harley were both traded by their original clubs, and Neitz wasn't a draftee.

The point that Freak is making is that we don't know what role Morton will end up playing. In the case of Palmer, you knew what you were getting because he'd excelled at senior WAFL level.

And I'm not saying that Morton won't be a good footballer. I just don't know when it will happen.

I think you may have missed the point I'm making.

  8. Give me a break. White's demise has come about with the introduction of the ruck circle. Prior to that, he was widely acknowledged as one of the premier ruckman.

It's only natural that an ageing 195cm ruckman, who's asset is his leap, is going to struggle against younger giants. I can't imagine him playing on next year.

White has been a wonderful servant at the club, and is deserving of a farewell game in round 22.

    Post of thread.

  9. i wouldn't kick it to morton if he was 50 metres on his own. he puts a blow torch to the ball every time he eventually decides to kick it. waste of a pick 4. should have got palmer. never pick players that are in between hieghts (190-192). versatility is over-rated, i prefer specialty in one position

I'm glad your not involved in recruiting at MFC...

Anyone who makes judges players like you have in their first year of footy are fools in my eyes. Fools with a monitor tan.

  10. Both the GC and Sydney teams are going to be devoid of any passion or history, and will be nothing more than a soulless organisation that means nothing to nobody.

unless the southport sharks become the gold coast sharks...

  11. Spoke with Patrick again tonight.

Travis just generally misses the MFC. Doesnt like living in Brisbane and the training the Lions do.

I think Patrick had spoken to him tbh.

    hahahahahahahaahhhaahahahahahah

yeah sure we'll have him back
