  1. Daniel Wells is massively overrated. Me too.
  2. Ah, OK then. Good on them (and you too).
  3. No way. No. Hell no. God no. No.
  4. Just shut up and take the credit! Demonland has silent/involuntary partners?
  5. Yeah, it's a tough one to call I reckon. It's probably going to depend on who else gets chopped. If we go into next year with Bartram and Dunn still on the list then there mightn't be room for Valenti. Then again, they may see more in Valenti than in those others.
  6. Whether or not Pick 11 has been used to success in previous years has nothing to do with whether or not this was a good trade. At the moment, McLean is a strong but goddamn slow midfielder who is injury-prone and who hasn't been playing terribly good football of late. We win. Yes. If they get rid of Fevola they will be useless next year. Word is that the decision rests in the hands of Kernahan, Swann and Ratten. Swann wants him out (according to someone on the radio yesterday, can't remember who). It is believed that Kernahan wants to get rid of him because he feels Ratten is soft and he wants the club to take a stand. Even if Fevola stays, I can't see them getting past Geelong, St Kilda, Bulldogs, Adelaide, Hawthorn, Brisbane. All those will have better years.
  7. I think 45hg's got it right here. Valenti and Spencer (and Zomer) have to either get promotions to the senior list or be delisted. Spencer probably will get a promotion, Valenti I doubt. I liked what I saw of Hughes this year at Casey. Hopefully next year we get to see a bit more of him.
  8. Bate should be in that group. Morton should be somewhere as well.
  9. You reckon McLean's so good that we'll struggle to find someone at pick 11 that is equal/better than him? I would go the opposite and say that we're more than likely to find someone equal/better. McLean's usefulness was low at Melbourne. Moloney does his role, and does it better. I doubt we'll draft someone who's slow and stocky.
  10. No way we should be going anywhere near someone as injury prone and unproven as Walker. Thankfully, it looks like that decision has already been made, since it seems he was originally part of the McLean deal.
  11. I respect Denham as a journalist, so I've now dispelled thoughts of Davey leaving. Hopefully the news comes in the next few days that he's re-signed. On the back of Sylvia and Wonna signing up, it would end up being a pretty good week for the club. Absolutely no way Collingwood supporters would say Davey's better than Davis. Just wouldn't happen. Despite that, Davis is the worst All Australian I've ever seen.
  12. Maybe not 'star' but he is still important to this team. I'd be devastated if we lost Garland.
  13. Just wanted to thank Nasher or whoever it was who fixed the time on the clock. Now seems to be spot on.
  14. Dawson is going nowhere. The only position available in St Kilda's 22 is Eddy's. Hudghton is a chance. But so are Dempster and Geary, who have had better games as a part of St Kilda in 2009 than Max has. If Max plays, it would be only because Geelong has a few tall forwards. It wouldn't be on the basis of good form, which is a good enough reason to not play him. No change for mine.
  15. Disagree. From what I saw/can remember of last year, he is a good kick. 24 goals 4 behinds shows that. I also remember him spotting up leading forwards with good kicks too. He's also pretty strong for someone his size, and loves tackling.
  16. FB: Garland Warnock Bennell HB: Frawley Rivers Bruce C: Morton Davey Sylvia HF: Green Bate Petterd FF: Watts Jurrah Wonaeamirri R: Jamar Moloney Grimes Int: Martin Scully Blease McLean Jones McDonald Emg: Maric Strauss Jetta
  17. Surely this is Sylvia you're referring to? Bartram wouldn't create interest in any club. And it wouldn't be much of a scoop to get the news that Bartram was going to be traded.
  18. Apparently Brock has just arrived at Princes Park. Maybe a media conference?
  19. Well this is what I would think. But I would also have looked to McLean's $10,000 out of pocket donation as proof that he would not want to leave Melbourne. So I don't know what to think anymore. Put it this way: if Davey goes, and cites a lack of direction/game plan/problems with Bailey as reasons, how will you feel? I would have to try hard to stop myself from apportioning the blame entirely on Bailey.
  20. Well I think I picked the worst 2 days to be away from a computer. It's taken 15 minutes to just peruse the 11 pages of this thread. Agree. As a stand alone incident, we have done pretty well. Brock wanted a new start, we get another top 20 draft pick. The issue I have is with the rumours of Davey wanting out as well. Add to that McLean's reported reasons for leaving (dissatisfaction with Bailey, game plan, overall direction of club) and the way CJ left last year (again dissatisfied) and I'm a little concerned. Yes,we did what was best for the club this year, and the draft picks we have will hopefully set us up nicely. I'm just beginning to worry a little bit about the playing group and whether or not all is well amongst our players given the year they have had to deal with. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that players were upset with Bailey and the FD over the whole tanking issue.
  21. From HUN website: MELBOURNE Aaron Davey was the shining light for the wooden-spooner Dees. But the $1.65 fancy polled in just three games for six votes, which was still enough for a club-high by one. Melbourne polled just 24 votes in 2008, but managed 31 this year. Liam Jurrah did not poll. Aaron Davey 6 Brent Moloney, *Colin Sylvia 5 Nathan James 4 Jack Grimes 3 Matthew Bate, Paul Johnson, James McDonald 2 Brock McLean, Shane Valenti 1
  22. Ablett a deserving winner. Gee, wasn't Swan a flop? Didn't even get most votes for Collingwood. Loved seeing Brown up the top. 19 votes for a CHF in today's game is really good. Riewoldt should have had a similar amount, though. Glad Judd or Goodes didn't win. Black seems to poll every year. If Brisbane gets good over the next 2 years, he might salute again. Horrible interview. Quartermain interviewing Cooney last year was so much better. Terrible coverage all round from Seven, actually. Sandy did well to host it on short notice, but the production was appalling. The whole 'boyhood dream' crap at the start was lame, analysing the 'contenders' was a waste of time, and there wasn't enough coverage of each team's polling.
  23. Damn it. Why, oh why? Yeah, I'm worried too. Two stress fracture-like injuries in the same year. That screams danger to me. But hopefully I, with no medical knowledge at all, am completely off the mark and he'll be fine.
  24. Forgot about that. Just goes to show how little this man actually knows. As someone's already said, he just makes a lot of statements and trumpets the ones he gets right, and everyone seems to forget when he gets one wrong. No. He's leaving. It's just a matter of how long it's going to take before chooses a club. But he won't be going back to Port, and they've acknowledged that.
  25. I'll cry if it's true. If he's got serious foot problems he might never recover from them (did he injure the same bone as Egan? The navicular?).
