  1. Gone ?!!!
  2. I love that movie Clint...... And actually, but probably not surprisingly, had the same conversation with my Dad recently regarding the fact that Melbourne supporters resembled childless and over analytical couple at the beginning vs while Collingwood supporters resembled the "white trash" rapidly and indiscriminately expanding family. So what? Great minds !!! As for the research - it seems like another positive step in a series of positive steps towards understand what makes us tick and how to make that better.
  3. Geez Rogue can you stop running around and "correcting me" !!! I know 20 is an early second round pick, but I think that pound for pound he is worth a first. That being said I don't think we will get either, which is all that counts really.
  4. I agree with you value assessment but I don't think for a second we could ever get that...... Because unfortunately BB there is a big difference between what we may think he is worth and what we can actually get. What we might get if it gets that far is an early second round pick or some kind of jumbled multi-player trade. In which case the jury will be out on whether the MFC actually improved its position at all, and that should be the only point for trading.
  5. Well said Fork...... Prismall owes us nothing (never has, never will) and if he thinks he will be better off at the Bombers then who the hell are we to criticise. Honestly its his life and his future that he has to worry, not about the feelings of a club that has nothing to do with him. And as for Green, well my opinion on this is clear, but I only want him traded for the absolute best we can get not just because he hasn't signed yet. Because you know what at the end of the day only he and the club know what is truly going on in that negotiation, and while we all rise and fall with the MFC a player still has the right to try to figure out what is best for him and for his future, and he should be able to do this without condemnation and abuse from us. And you would think a player who has never had any connection to us (except in our own heads, wish lists and rumour files) could get the same consideration, but that has always been a little to much to ask at this time of year.
  6. Well you seem to be on a get rid of Green tear, based on a rumour (we really don't know, nor should we what is really going on) you seem to want to believe. So frankly your opinon has become fairly negligable, no matter how often its stated and repeated, again and again and.......
  7. I think you have killed that horse, but please keep on flogging <_< ......
  8. But doesn't that principle apply to nearly all our players. There are precious few that would be regarded as "untouchable", but even fewer that would get us anything near what we probably think they are worth. The reality is that of course Davey, like Green and probably some like Sylvia, Bell, Johnson, maybe even Rivers could be put up or at least flirted with, but the likelihood of us actually get what we want and think we deserve for them, in a deal that means we lose some of our more experienced and classy (for want of a better word) players, even as a package, is still pretty slim. And that reality seems to not live here in great quantities at this time of year. I have no issue sacrificing some of our players to get better options for the future, but there has to be some guarantee of the better part of that equation. And Alwyn Davey just resigned with the Bombers.
  9. Touche my dear Rogue......
  10. Amen Jaded...... I was honestly disappointed, albeit not particularly surprised, in this result, not because I hate Cam Bruce (in fact I am more than likely to stick up for anyone getting the rounds of the table in here) I don't, but he was, in my humble opinion, not the best this season. I have no doubt that that comment will be misinterpreted as have plenty before me, but Jaded is right his skills have slipped and his leadership (as captain no less) doesn't seem to inspire much confidence. I also think that Hannabal has a valid point in that this is a victory by default, given as much on the basis of him playing every game (with or without shin splints) and thus getting a lot of possessions. My issue is not his work rate but his execution and for that I unfortunately fall down on the YM side of the Bruce argument (just no with so much vitriol). The really interesting positions are the ones outside of the top five and where some of our more highly fancied players ended up. In the end congrats to Cameron, but my opinion still holds.
  11. The camp even got a bite on the news here in Sydney..... It was very exciting !!!
  12. And given how much you have ripped into him before he is even drafted, if (when) he is taken at number one, I certainly hope he will have your support anyway.
  13. Oh I don't know, my brother and I are born and bred in Sydney, and support Essendon and Melbourne respectively.
  14. Twelve months ago who would have thought ?!!!
  15. And all are welcome !!!
  16. His form this year has made my time in here a hell of a lot more relaxing !!! Good solid improvement and hopefully the start of the rest of his career at this level and better. As for the rest I am going to just have to agree with Bub!!!
  17. Could be anything really....... As there seems to be a fairly vast range of colours and jumpers that people think we clash with, when the reality is terribly different.
  18. Happy to Bub !!!
  19. There isn't a clash anyway !!!
  20. Well thank goodness for small (or large) mercies !!! Feel better soon 45, and thanks for the report.
  21. I know no offense was meant but honestly this discussion does tend towards condescension from the the south when I still bet most people who have a derogatory opinion on Sydney have never lived here and therefore have no basic understanding of the city itself, only a belief that Melbourne is automatically better. As for the other point there are any number of things that the AFL could do and doesn't, and it is about selling the code that matters here, from increasing junior programs, increasing funding to the Sydney grade comp, all the way through to bettering the free to air broadcast arrangements (which currently suck). I don't have time now to go into it with any more depth but I will when I get the chance.
  22. The whole thing is nothing more than a vanity exercise, as he tries to sure up his place in football history.
  23. I guess I am the only person who lives in Sydney (and was actually a little ticked off by a hell of a lot of what has been said)........ I guess the pompous critics from you Melbourne folk obviously gives you a much more vast understanding of a city I have lived in my entire life. The other thing that should be taken into account is that AFL is not a sport born here, it has no tradition here and minimal multi-generational support. For a comparison try the Storm in Melbourne. Granted the NRL is an overall smaller competition but the Storm have a base set of fans that go to most matches similar to the Swans, no generational support and as I understand minimal media coverage. The comparisons are very similar. Sydney is unbelievably not ready for a second team (something I have said for ages) and won't be for at least ten years, after a hell of a lot more prep work (Aus Kick etc) is done otherwise it will be a club purely funded by the AFL to actually stay in existence like the Swans were twenty years ago. And if I hear we are an "odd lot" one more time.......you guys honestly have no idea, why? Cause you don't live here, but be sure to stay the course with your arrogant know it all sling shots.
