  1. I think people need to calm the farm a bit. Roffey spoke poorly & should resign, but getting rid of her does not solve club culture, we won't start playing electric football again, she isn't responsible for our terrible recruiting, nor off field antics of players, Petracca won't stay if she leaves either, we have bigger issues throughout. It doesn't just end with her gone, we need a whole club clean out/direction and buy in.
  2. We won a flag 3 years ago....time for people to move on. I did not mention anything about being the worst performing club, however we did finish 5th last....After we lost 10 of the last 15 games and 5 of the last 6, including 4 games around 8-9 goal losing margin from around round 17. Our club on many occasions this year did not turn up to play. You clearly have rose coloured glasses on if you don't see we have many issues onfield. Some of our stats this year are up there with the worst in the comp. We also finished 5th and 7th the previous 2yrs, as we folded and went out in straight sets..... I however do agree that we are awful off field as well, but our onfield has nothing to do with Roffey.
  3. Not just Melbourne players, but I wonder how many players across the AFL just say "they're homesick" just to keep the peace, rather than rag their clubs? I'd imagine there would be a fair amount.
  4. So what you're saying is, Goodwin and Roffey must go?
  5. I don't like her, but it's not her fault the players continually dish up rubbish and lack of effort on field.
  6. It's bloody hard to know where to unpack this whole situation, it's a mess. I'm personally now of the belief this has to do with the coaching department, ie; Goodwin and assistants and direction of this. I think most people give the coach a free ride as he delivered the ultimate prize, however that side was so full of confidence, not much would've stopped them at the pointy end. Some things that Petracca may be annoyed at and rightly so (some may be true or untrue): - Oliver trade threat and whatever was and is going on in the background. Oliver leaving the training camp early. - The apparent need for players to play through pain and injury? If Oliver has been sore and has loads of pins in his hand, then why is he playing? Why did Gawn have a go at him v Coll? Did Petracca feel he had to go back on? - The off-season camp rumours of bad behaviour, was it Anglesea and Mornington Peninsular? - Joel Smith - Goodwin coaching, the constant backing in of a plan that the game has gone past. Questions over his stubbornness in the coaches box. We have surrounded him with assistant and given his a chance. - gameday tactics, heavy reliance on contest and defence with no visual flair, forward half entries, continuing zone defence, no backup ruck/playing JVR as the backup etc. - Rewarding of players with mediocre games at Casey, or even bringing players straight back in after long layoffs. Dropping of players who had good games in the seniors. - Brodie Grundy saga and recruitment in the first place. - Could Christian be annoyed that he was sent forward more instead of being the midfield bull? ie; did his ego want a chance at a brownlow? Who knows. - Playing players out of position, ie; not to their strengths. - Continual questions over our culture - Like others have mentioned, if training at Casey was an issue then why did he sign on for a massive long term deal? Was he promised a new training centre? Stupid if so and also, how long did Christian think that would take to be approved and built? - Petraccas body language and frustration on-field prior to KB - Dysfunctional forward line - May/Melksham incident at Entrecote - Did the players get too cocky after the flag? (May comments). - The game at Optus v West Coast where players barely even tried, then Alice. - The recruitment of players post 2021, with a couple of them being questionable - Is Christians ego his biggest problem. He did say from the start he wants to be a hall of famer. Does he crave the attention a bit too much? "wants bigger crowds"? How lame. - Straight sets exits. Some say top 4, but we actually finished what, 5th and 7th? The only conclusion that even only half makes sense to me is that Petracca is frustrated with the coach. Not a lot of the above really has much to do with Pert/Roffey. Perhaps he was already thinking this before not getting as much attention as he liked or deserved with his terrible injury? Then that was the final straw? Did he go to Noosa to start the separation process from the club? And why are/were players annoyed? All I know is everyone on here will be devastated to lose Christian despite how you feel right now, I'm sure it will all come out in the wash. I generally thought he was the next in line for the (c). Such a sad situation only a few years from our last flag. There are just far too many questions and not enough answers. I can understand his frustrations as above, but I don't excuse his behaviour and dragging the club through turmoil. Never bite the hand that feeds you is a good old saying. Lets wait and see.
  7. I think it would be naive to just give Goodwin a tick, there are a large range of issues on and off the field that Goodwin is responsible for, he is not in the clear by a long shot and I personally believe the current issues relate to Goodwin and the coaching group. It also feels like Pert and Roffey should be given marching orders, but that is just a guess as I'm not all over board issues (nor want to be).
  8. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns…. it just covers over cracks beating a hapless GC. I don’t have to watch the game to know there are major issues, blind Freddy can see that. Enjoy the win, gosh people are overly sensitive and emotional on this site.
  9. Haven’t seen the game yet and probably won’t this week but I’ll tame my excitement, we beat up a hapless Gold Coast who’d lost to WCE and North in recent weeks. We still have a look of work to do. As a whole club, from coaching to player retention and beyond.
  10. His silence, as each day goes on, is definitely alarming now I think.
  11. Hard to know what the real story here is, but considering Petracca has not come out and denied any of it or said he's here for the long term makes you wonder. I've always thought there has been stuff bubbling away for a couple of years amongst our players, like most clubs. I think Christian had the (c) in the bag but if what is reported is true, then he has done himself and the club a lot of damage IMO. Hard to see him being captain.
  12. Yep WCE at Optus for me. What I saw wasnt good
  13. Give what a rest?! and wasn’t that my point…..
  14. How the hell is that belittling the players? Sheesh.
  15. Funny how we see it differently. Looks nervous and could hear it in his voice. Petracca and Oliver are contracted, of course the club would say this. Both have made comments within 12 months though. Still silence from Petracca. Looked just the usual spin to me.
  16. Another great clubman gone, always gave the jumper his best.
  17. Whether its injury management, team selection, game plan, recruiting, game day nous, culture etc, there is one common denominator and that is Simon Goodwin, he has a hand in it all.
  18. I'd definitely do this, invest in the kids, right now is the best time to do this. Give them a taste and make them hungry for next year.
  19. Yet Goodwin has said only Salem was a potential injury, hamstring. You'd think he would have remembered mentioning Kolt, who he subbed off very early..... I mean he may be injured, however looked like a good old fashioned dragging to me.
  20. What I'm saying OD is, we don't want another Jack Watts scenario.....
  21. I'd be happy to try him, however we need to choose the right opponent
  22. And he’ll do it in what looks a lot worse of a side too
  23. Surely won't be playing seniors.....?
  24. I actually don’t believe it tbh, just an excuse for poor form and attitude IMO.
  25. Why Goodwin would even play Oliver as a defensive mid, when clearly we have Viney and Sparrow to play that role. We have clearly struggled in the midfield as well this year. Also, Oliver is one of the best mids of this generation and considering we have had to play Petracca forward (and now injured), it’s Oliver who should be taking games by the scruff of the neck. Just odd coaching imo. Actually I call bs.
