I'm sure we could all pass the hat and soften the blow( not on Maynard of course,). I'm not sure the lads will go after Maynard today. It will be interesting to see what will happen. Have they been given directions to just play the ball or will Goody use the incident to rev them up? There is the distinct possibility we will be sidetracked by the Maynard thing but it will probably be worth it. A blokes career was stolen from him so it warrants recompense. My monies on JV or JvR and a rare outburst from CP.

I would like to see Maynard dealt with but not sure if we want to be distracted by him. Nah, let's do him in.

-
Id much prefer him to Billings or Laurie.
-
Question to those who follow Casey. Have Billings and Howes excelled since their games against the Eagles. Have they warranted selection so soon? Also if Petty doesn't turn things around tomorrow, at what stage is Goody forced to drop him?( If he isn't already).
-
Woey has been very good. I know I can kick at least 35. Or used to a few years ago.
-
Fair call but his kicking distance can't be excused by conditioning. You either can kick the ball more than thirty or you can't. No amount of game time is going to fix that I'm afraid.
-
I hope not. Last time he was sub against the pies he barely touched it. And he played almost the entire game. Shocking selection by Goody last year in the final.
-
I know. I was so disappointed in everyone else. I thought they were shell shocked or something but still they should have done something. When your teammate is lying flat on his back in the middle of the field , it's time to show a big response. Great effort from Jack but it was tumbleweeds from everyone else.

Time to blood some more players. Tired of Billings, Hunter and the usual suspects. Also McAdam needs to be dropped. Im not sure I've seen a forward who cannot kick a ball thirty metres. It's just not up to standard unfortunately.

Has the team been announced? If so any link please?

The Age Article: 'Enough is Enough' - Simon Goodwin.

Fully agree with this. I guess the club is trying to do the right thing for its supporters and give them reassurance and hope etc . But what I find really difficult to deal with is when after some good games like the whole gather round, is the gloating and self congrats. We should learn to keep a lid on things. But if we haven't learnt by now , I'm not sure we will. I know there are media demands but maybe we should buck the trend and keep silent until a flag is won again. I thought we celebrated too much after beating the Crows and power over in S A . Since then the wheels have fallen off. The problem with talking the club up after some really poor form is that if we lose against the pies then we have nowhere to go and nothing else to say for other games. Best to say no comment and do any talking on the field. -
He really is struggling this year. Jack Viney's been okay but he was in much better form last year. Combine Sparrow who rarely shines and you can see a once most touted midfield no longer killing it. And then throw in the catch of having to move Tracca into the fwd line and it certainly explains why the docker's slaughtered is in the clearances. The bang, bang, bang is sadly no more.

More like patch of brilliance. I don't deny the fact that he is a very gifted footballer. But this year apart from a great game against the cats he has been a complete liability. It's like playing a man down up fwd. The problem is he is so devoid of confidence that he's made some critical errors playing down back the few times he has been there. He definitely needs to go back to Casey and regain some form. I'm not sure we can even trade him now for much at all. But since we have very few players in reserve including the likes of Fullerton, Schache and McAdam who is being gifted games, we are really stuck for options and our ability to drop players who don't perform. I'm not sure exactly when and what happened but this club which has previously been very adroit in recruiting and picking potential potential, has found itself collecting players other clubs don't want and letting some good players go. Years of building a great list that secured a flag for us has now seemed to have unravelled to where we are today A list that is now starting to show age and injuries. I feel that last year was our last true shot at another cup. But alas a shocker of injuries and the club failing to have more fwd opportunities saw our chances evaporate. So it while injuries played their role last year, it shouldn't have been unexpected that aging players like Bbb, Tmac and others would have problems. The club ignored these and didn't recruit properly. And here we still are, with no forward line. Alas it happens. Clubs rise and fall. And now we are pretty much like the bulldogs. We almost had two flags. The Maynard act didn't help. Maybe our list wasn't as great as we thought it was. Yes we had a great midfield and backline but not enough goal kicking power after 21. Now we just have a strong backline with a midfield seemingly struggling. Hopefully we can rebuild again but I just hope it's nowhere near another half century before we see more success.

You do a great job WCW. You are definitely not a fair weather supporter.
-
Fair call. If it's a foot injury that's hampering his form let's just put it out there. The issue for me is not what is causing his present performance or lack of thereof but the fact that we play him every single week. It's clearly not helping him or the club.
-
In theory they both need to be. Just like McAdam and Petty. But I can't see who we have as legitimate replacements. At least call the Petty fwd experience over and put him down back. That's a start.
-
Well it's on. We have talked a big fightback since the Freo loss. Let's just wait and see if we do.
-
Spargo out kicks McAdam by a long way. Is it technique with McAdam? Surely it must be as you can't have an Afl player who can't kick 30 m. And I'm sure Adelaide must be now thinking Re Petty, what were we thinking.

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody

It wouldn't be all that bad. Credit to Goody for the work he's done but some fresh eyes and passion could be just the start we need. -
Speaking of mid season, Chandlers form has dropped off exactly like it did this time last year.
-
Thanks for the positivity WA. I actually thought that maybe the eagles loss was the outlier but now with the Freo loss or rather thumping I think we will be lucky to play finals. We don't have the depth anymore and if we get hit by a few more injuries then we may see some more beltings. Our fwd line has managed 100 points twice this season and now our midfield has imploded. On top of that we are using Tracca up fwd and Kozzie in the middle . Players like McAdam and Petty need to go to Casey and get some form and confidence but we don't have players to replace them with. I guess the KB game will tell what we are made of. It won't be easy to shrug such a big loss though. As much as I want to see us beat the filth, Id be happy to just compete for four quarters. We may be distracted by the Maynard incident too. l

He didn't apply a single tackle. He occasionally plays a solid game but rarely strings a few of them together. We should have focused more on Jordan and pushed Sparrow out. For a team that was famous for it's midfield and made history with it's bang bang bang moments, we have suddenly found this to be one of our biggest weaknesses. Smashed by more than double in the clearances. Combined with a fwd line that could not kick more than fifty points we have become a shadow of last year's form. Oliver and Sparrow are struggling big time this year and JV looks slower and seems to be less involved. And on occasion we have moved Tracca forward. And as good as Tracca is, for some reason he often takes at least two quarters to start impacting games.
