I think it's probably a mixed bag. There are probably a few haters but to be fair he hasn't kicked many goals or taken many marks. He's certainly a good at his designated craft of ruck but we already have one in Max. I think we all expected the player not in the ruck to drop back or present up forward. Grundy hasn't really dominated in that role...perhaps a few times in defence he's been good but since Max is having an average season by his standards, the combo hasn't really kicked on. Would love to see it working like it did pre season, so there's still hope. But given we lose a tall fwd option in having them both and our fwd line is struggling, it will be very interesting to see how we go this round. Let's face it, Grundy will kill it at Casey if he plays there so I imagine it would be hard to keep him out.

Happy for Swans to win but gee the umps have been kind to them.

Probably a sneaky cats fan.

Tx, Let's keep those L's coming.

As big Kev would say...Im excited. And I. As for Smith he does make sense as a sub. More so than most of the ones we've had this year at least. Does Bbb play ff?
-
I get you and aGrundy despite his marking is a good player. But by good player, I mean he's a good ruck but around the ground hasn't been fantastic. I guess if you throw in Max having an average season, it's fair to say that to some degree that it has failed. If the objective was to bolster our fwd line than it has most definitely.
-
Nicholls... Still sulking over Max punching the ball.
-
Yep Grundy is out but it will definitely be interesting to see Jvr and Bbb in the same line up. I guess Goody is never going back to the Petty fwd option. I do wonder why the long experiment in the first place.
-
When was the last time the lions actually won at the G? Was it against us?
-
Not really. As you correctly stated our defence doesn't need it. Probably the best in the comp. I think Grundys tap work is better than Max so he spends more time in the middle with Max forward.
-
The most likely successful of them being a good fwd is definitely Max. Grundys marking just isn't up to it.

And not like our forward line is killing it. Need to put some more goals on the board without having to sacrifice Trac when Oliver is out. I say that despite his form Jvr goes back on with with Bbb. It's also true that we have carried other players who haven't been up to par this year. Ideally I would like to see a Petty/ Bbb forward structure but I think Goody has scrapped the Petty experience. We can't depend on Tmac. I think he's cooked. I'm not sure Jvr is 100 % ready yet. Milk is really only a good sub for Fritta as we cant play two medium size fwd. The Saints game for me showed why we one tall doesn't quite work even with Trac playing a Dusty type role. It's going to have to be a 2 combo from Bbb, Petty, Jvr and Smith. I have hope as Petty showed some great form in his last game forward as did Bbb last week. It's also necessary that our smalls get going. Did a spell in the twos make Chandler lift? I think 3 smalls from Anb, Kozzie, Spargo and Chandler is plenty. If Chandler didn't lift in the Magoo's then maybe that's it. It's crunch time now to get this sorted. Goody needs to send a clear message that players need to lift or book their holiday tix. Since Bbb showed some good signs last week. I'd prefer him at ff. So who is our best CHF going to be? For me as it stands it's Bbb and Petty / Jvr. With Tommo or Smith in defence of Petty gets the nod. Smith proves more flexibility but Tommo seems the better player. Perhaps Smith makes the ultimate sub. For our smalls it's Anb, Spargo and Kozzie. Maybe we just roll the dice and play this now and stick with it and hope it all works out with the limited time left. And definitely go shopping for at least one big bodied forward afterwards. The writing was on the wall with Tmacs body last year, Jackson leaving and Bbbs form slump. The double ruck has not covered these so let's please find someone.
-
Agreed. We have a real problem with our forward line which is now exacerbated by our number one goal kicker out for awhile. It was our forward line that failed towards the end of last season that saw is go out of finals in straight sets to teams we should have beaten. However the Max Grundy Combo was to supposed to extent help the loss of Jackson up forward. I believe the FD thought it would add some goal scoring power to the team. Combined, the two have added an avge of just over a goal per game which is pretty low. I would just prefer that we recruited a decent marking CHF instead of this experiment. It's not like it's been cheap either.
-
Not too fussed if we lose Grundy. It's not like the double ruck combo has been crushing it. Grundy really isn't a great mark around the ground as well. Maybe we sneak in another tall up forward and kick some more goals. May be quite fortunate.
-
I get the feeling Kozzie is way down on confidence. I would like to see that line up too but not sure if Kozzie should be dropped. Do we roll the dice with some out of form players?Maybe it's too late in the season not too. At least Bbb showed some good signs
-
Kozzie and Chandler at their peak game are match winners. To see them both back in great form is vital.
-
lions have won every game at the Gabba and lost half of their games away from it. Go Dees. However it will require a much better effort from our worrying fwd line again. Maybe Bbb will play a blinder. Our backline is wonderful but our small brigade are not doing much and I can't see where a winning score will come from. Petty needs to go fwd. We simply can't have just one tall again.
-
Petty was out for a while too.

Tx for all the Casey news

I think we will end the season hopefully with 15 wins. Although if we roll the lions at the G we could get 16. But lons have a good run home . We won't go near third. It's a question of holding off the Don's but they have three hard games and four easy. Dogs have a better chance than the Saints and maybe equal to the Don's re fixture. Ironically our early % may come into play. Our destiny is on our hands and some luck re injuries. Will BBB play into form? Will Oliver return in time to let Track rebuild our forward line? It's not ideal.
-
If he was such an integral part of our backline, I'd love to see him crumbling up forward. Reckon he would be good for at least two every week.

Crows can't win outside S.A. but one against Hawks.

Gus in boots?

Just watched most of the replay and I've got to say credit needs to go towards the Saints intensity and tackling. They played a very defensive game and shut down a lot of our handballing and kicking down the middle. Their kids did very well.
