  1. Cop out. All three also have something else in common - being fairly rubbish teams. The Dogs played in Darwin the last two years - they went on to make prelims in each year.
  2. It's a good point you raise and one I think about from time to time. The counter argument is that you could probably say the same for any player. When any 3 players are "on," Melbourne will look better. For me, the question comes down to consistency and how regularly they can play at or near their best. The players mentioned in this thread fail to do so anywhere nearly enough, but they're certainly not alone. On any given day I'd be comfortable that Frawley, Jones, Watts (bang!), Bail, Bartram would play to that level in terms of their own game but not many of their peers. It's a fickle game, footy. Two years ago Davey would've been one of the few on that list. Last year Green would've been on the list with quite a few other mates. Hopefully, that list will increase again - because if it doesn't, we're not going anywhere. (I'm not saying that list is definitive, or even correct, but I think anyone will get the message).
  3. I'm not much of a behind the scenes man, but I highly doubt that type of report is ever designed to be seen by public eyes.
  4. You mean to tell me that after all this "Sylvia is gone - fact," he hasn't even started contract discussions?
  5. The best is when MFC supporters buy into paying out MCC/MFC fans. I sit in the MCC every week, and the crowd is almost always quite good in the MCC. As for the rest of the ground (which is quite easy to see)...
  6. Funnily enough, I don't see a great difference between our "best 22" and our "development 22."
  7. Is it possible to get the chosen 6-1s from the past three games?
  8. Read this in the Age today, quoted to Brad Green in regards to Dean Bailey. "I totally feel sorry for the guy, the playing group loved him, he's a great man. But them's the breaks when you're out of contract and you get done by 32 goals." The quicker he is no longer captain the better.
  9. I get the feeling he'll be a late in.
  10. At the moment, Colin Sylvia is the player that Collingwood fans were worried that Thomas would be IMO. Thomas has worked his butt off to improve his all round game to become elite. This is something Sylvia threatens to never achieve.
  11. The upside is that he took mediocre sides to finals 3 times. The downside is that 3 of the 5 finals he coached, they lost by 87 points or more. He won one out of 5 finals matches. Reminds me of a certain Rev.
  12. Perhaps some have missed this paragraph but, to me, it highlights how ridiculous the article is. "The carrot offered to the out-of-contract Scully to keep him out of the clutches of Greater Western Sydney was understood to have been made despite the knowledge by some at Melbourne he probably has already agreed to move on a lucrative long-term deal." How likely is it that a club would sack its CEO to keep a second year player who many at the club apparently think is gone anyway? Not to mention how the wording underscores the guesswor. The knowledge that he probably?
  13. Finally the real heat on the senior players appears.
  14. It. Makes. No. Sense. Do these people even read their articles once written? I suppose every Scully angle has been covered now and there will be no more Scully articles until he signs...
  15. July 25 was the Sydney win. I think my favourite stat from above is Jako's 22 kicks lead to 21 shots on goal. What was his other kick? One that fell short?
  16. From memory, if the Bombers win one of the next two (Swans, Dogs) we'll need to win one of the next two. Mind you, wouldn't put losing one of the last 3 out of the question. I feel we're in a weird situation. If we win on Sat (though it's a decent if) I could see us getting on a bit of an almighty roll.
  17. If those list of grievances are real, and that's why the senior players were 'mentally shattered' I find it pathetic and slightly hard to believe. Concentrate on your footy boys. Any premiership winning team will have ruthless list management. And senior players holding an emergency meeting to discuss the expensive end of season trip to China now? Honestly, sums it up.
  18. Hawks made 7 in a row in the 80's didn't they?
  19. The brief encounters I've had with have only ever re-affirmed my view of him as a gentleman and a lovely guy. I wish him all the best.
  20. Is it ridiculous to suggest that, if he wants to, we were to keep Dean on in some capacity?
