  1. I reckon he says what he thinks quite consistently in the public arena. Interesting the boys taking with him on Triple M. Garry for about the 864th time was asked why he doesn't "help the club more" Garry basically responded by saying there is no logical reason he would be good at any board level role. He stated he has no relevant diplomas nor abilities, and importantly said that facts and figures "do no interest him" which i think many peope can relate to. He said that if the club needed him for membership drives, he urged them to "use him in any way, shape or form that will help the club" and also said if they wanted his opinion on the list management of the MFC then he would help as he feels this is more in his area of expertise. I think he's doing the right thing by the club. He is not simply saying, I'm G. Lyon, i'm a legend of the club, i demand a spot wherever, but rather he is letting the proper people do their jobs while he gives us the most prominent public figure since... probably since i've been alive. I think he may begin to step up his commitment off field as our membership drive changes course, and our list is evaluated, but other than that i hope he continues to give us a face in the media and plugs the Demons whenever he can

I reckon for a tall bloke he's got quite a bit of dash, he's hands aren't that bad and i reckon evasive skills are one of his better attributes when he attacks of the backline. Just my thought though
  3. At 75 bucks a pop, even if the pies win, no collingwood fan will see the game anyway
  4. Rule change, make him stand in the traditional pose?
  5. Sounds odd to claim that if a specific groups of known supporters, easily contactable people, became members we'd have 40,000, and then claim to move past them. Obviously i don't want sole focus on MCC, but it seems a way we can boost our tally. A few ideas thrown around can't hurt
  6. You could have both. For instance, i would still pay full mcc and full mfc, but not the $40 mcc membership because there's no need to. But i would definitely pay 30 to have an mfc mcc membership card
  7. Yeah but the more options the better.
  8. I agree on the whole, however even with Mcdonald in the midfield Mclean and Jones have already been asked to take a major step-up, probably moreso than any other midfield combination of their age group in the competition. I think Bailey realises Mcdonald will not help the development of these boys any further as he will not attract the best tagger, and as such feels the backline is a good spot for him
  9. Maybe we could ask for a type of MCC membership that can combine itself with an MFC membership. Perhaps costing more in itself, or for the same price but relinquishing the amont of games one can attend. On second thought, no that wouldn't work. I find the MCC issue very hard. I'm a student, living out of home, pay full MCC and pay for a Concession 11 membership. I have used my membership precisely zero times this year. Last year i think was the same number. I cannot stand Telstra Dome and as such hardly attend. Finding a way to connect the MCC Melbourne supportes and turning them into Melbourne members is important, but not the end of the line. Maybe there could be an annual option for $30 dollars say, that gives you an MFC-MCC card with our emblem on it and counts you as a member?
  10. Demonslotto is great. Took a good 5 minutes to figure out all my numbers and compare them to realise i don't win, but still good fun
  11. 16th ranked forwardline, 16th ranked forwardline, and i'm absolutely with Nasher on this. A good quality midfield that pressues the opposition midfield not only lowers the number of entries into our defensive 50, but lowers the quality at which it comes in. This was seen starkly in the midfield performance deteriorating the quality of Hawthorn's forward entries, whilst against the Saints, our backline did not stand a chance. The way to judge our backline is to rate how the players are going. Garland is basically unrecognisable, as is Warnock, Frawley i think is still finding his place, Bell is struggling a bit but i think it's largely a form issue. Rivers has been injured and so our backline/team's most important players has not been able to help the structure. Our team is being groomed for a new future, with a new structure and stye of play, and thus no individual part should be rated aside from any other.

    Woey?

Anything that gets past MFC players to help the club in any capacity is a plus in my opinion. Something Garry suffers from is he's everywhere in the media, meaning people expect him to do more. Anything that past players can do is very welcome in my mind. Hope to see Woey around, how quickly we forget he was a favourite son, no, just joking, we always remember

Because Jim Stynes' amazing work with the Reach Foundation proves that he feels there's nothing more important than football...
  14. Good to see Wrecker's goal has earnt him a rightful spot on the forwardline!
  15. After watching Jim Stynes tonight i feel like buying another membership!
  16. Wow is right. I'm in shock. SO excited. Hope this emotion is carried right through the club, and coupled with good ideas, leads us to greatness again
  17. WOW. just saw it on The Footy Show. That was amazing, i have tingles. GO THE DEES! POSITIVITY!
  18. Good call Jarka, completely agree. Only people who frustrate me are my mates who go for Melbourne, love the club, will have arguments with me all night about the club, go to 4-5 games a year (paying at least a hundred) and yet still don't buy a membership, which would clearly be better for them. Negative generalizations in this circumstance don't help. I hope this board (demonland) can think of ideas to generate more members as well as the newly elected MFC board, as this is crucial to our survival
  19. I wonder how many bought memberships just for our 150th year, and won't renew next year. If we can hold onto the ones we've gained, as well as keep in contact with past members, our membership could get a kick along if our on field form lifts

I'll be pumped if Wheels plays. He's so effective with the ball, with such a calm head who i think can really help the backline Also i spent all Saturday night telling him to kick one for Sandy and then he'd get a game, so i want to be right!!
  21. As i have previously stated, i would give it up as a yearly home game if the club was able to get something in return. I worry that if it's a home game next year and gets less than 60 again, we might lose it all together. If we're proactive and can get the AFL to rethink its cutting of the (Competitive balance fund?) and thus suplementing the loss of takings from the gate and give us a home game to replace it, i would seriously consider it as an option. Out of interest, what is the financial difference between the 59,000 we got for QB and the 41 we got for the Hawks?
  22. How is it weird that if it's a Collingwood home game next year, their members would get free entry? I reckon it would build the spectacle, which i've said numerous times, and help in future QB matches to truly make it a blockbuster. But i feel you aren't listening and would much rather attack
