Chopper came on and wanted to use it, i thought it was fair enough if he got to use it, but now i can't get my new AVATOIR(!!!!!) to work. Keep meaning to message a mod. Yeah i see what you mean HT, but i just can't deal with them. Healy especially, just so biased. It's the only thing i don't like about the coverage, which even with it is easily the best in the world

I hate Australian commentators. We're currently 3-92 after 28.1 overs, and they talk of Bangladesh being "pleased" with a "better performance." They just give teams no credit. When we were about 1-71 after 20 overs, probably one of our lowest totals at 1 out at that point for a long point, they just kept whinging that Clarke and Watson were out of form and working out of it. If it was another team they would rave about the bowling. I know they're trying to appeal to the average Aussie, but surely they need a bit of equality

over 3 million now raised, not including longer term direct debits. Amazing effort by all involved

Is there any way we can keep it ticking over throughout the offseason? To help it get to 5 by the start of the new season?

HT, no need to get so defensive. I think it was in reference to this quote. I can't see how you can't understand why supporters would be frustrated that only 1400 out of 21,000 Melbourne members have so far donated. Obviously we all, Torpedo and yourself included, want as many members to contribute to the cause as posible. Hopefully a lot of people will show up post match on Sunday, but i also don't see why this would be what people were waiting for to donate. This function was initially, as I read it, a celebration for all the people who HAD donated. We haven't really been told much about the function itself i feel anyway

Over the top of Collingwood fans? Meh, I'd prefer into

It is a good point I.A.N. I'm hoping there are many supporters like yourself who have decided to go the monthly deduction offer. I wonder if the club can put an estimated total in brackets for how much they'll raise after the 12 months of direct debit has been completed (i.e. we have $2.8m but we have 1000 who have said direct debit, totalling $240,000, or something along those lines) Dirct Debit Debt Demolition. Illiteration at it's finest

Great to see Arsenal go down. Though typical Spurs don't let me enjoy it too much. Would love to see an open season as far as the top of the table is concerned, don't see it happening though

Couldn't agree more mate. When the big clubs do it it's always because they "know how to win" and have more "class" than their opponents and as such were always going to get over the top. But when middle-lower clubs do it, it's always a story of luck and how it could've gone either way. Chelsea are the worst "offenders" of the late win/draw

Here we go again, about 28 seconds after the '07-'08 season finished, the '08-'09 season has begun. Tottenham have begun a season that promises much poorly. Arsenal looked less than impressive in their victory, as did Liverpool. Interesting to see how the promoted teams go. Good on Hull! Will Man U. hold on again? Will Chelsea conquer them? Will Liverpool overcome their 18 year drought and claim the title? I hope Torres gets the top scoring award, he's worthy and good enough IMO

I'd have thought in debt demolition month the club would be going over the top with this. Ad's, posters, anything. All I've seen is a little link on the website (i hope it's just me missing it) Is this another thing we're missing out on because we have no home location? I remember SOS(Save our Saints) had raffle tins in lots of milkbars etc., the Dogs fund was likewise, tins, raffles, posters all throughout Footscray. It's been a great effort to raise so much money, but you'd think we'd try and wipe it fully, or at least as much as possible

i read that as being a function for those who had donated 500 or more, that's what it seems like on the website
  13. 45HG replied to w00dy's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
So is the club hoping to wipe the whole 5mil in this one month? Because if so, and all they're hoping is for this steady stream to continue, i'm worried we won't even get close. Almost halfway through August and supporters (aside from the dinner) have raised 168,000. I can't see what anyone else would be waiting for to chip in, i hope there are more events planned to keep the total ticking over

Haha, i just read that as well. Wow, they waited four years to show their banner, which was largely laughed at and then ignored, let alone incorrect. Now they're planning next year's, which doesn't even make sense anyway. Really reminds you of the rivalry of footy clubs, i'm loving this. Again, they complain when they've been down for about 3 days about other clubs sinking the boots in, and then they go on about their brotherhood and strength. Please! Try going for the Dogs, Demons or Saints. Real down and out clubs that have to fight each and every year, who have done so without the head of football Eddie Mcguire to lead them out of their depths of a decade ago. Collingwood fans having a go at clubs for asking for charity, amazing, centrelink anyone?

Yeah, i didn't think it was great, but i think it's about time our club starts to really stand for something, to promote it's own front and back itself as a power club of the future. All other great teams have arrogance, at least to some degree, and Garry is probably the perfect person to do it. Intrisically linked to our club but not involved enough to really get offended of drag our name through the mud. It's usually people saying things about us, then us defending ourselves looking weak and responsive. Aside from all that, i think it was meant more for those there rather than the greater public (though he must've known it'd get out) My favourite bit in the Pies thread is the "we'll happily play hawthorn or Geelong," no you won't, because without us they wouldn't play on QB at all and that's the way we have to start thinking

Magpie winge Oh my god, this week just gets better and better!
  17. 45HG replied to w00dy's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Mouse, if the night raised 2,051,000 and the total listed is 2,069,645 then i don't think it could include the 100,000 from foxtel because there's only 18,000 not linked to last night (that's been counted) So i suppose we can claim 2,169,645 but it's better to push it up ourselves And mo, i generally find topics left in the general area get more interaction as they are easier to see. We should just keep this board up near the top with people updating their donations
  18. 45HG replied to w00dy's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I figure if every adult member can donate 100, it would leave around 800,000 which perhaps the club could find another avenue (or event) to pass through, we can get rid of the debt. Hell, i'm donating 100 now that i don't really have, and if i see us within a million with a week to go there'll probably be another 100 going down

Sid, you are an absolute legend! Personally, i would love to say thank you for helping save my football club, and i'm sure many others agree. Future generations will thank you for saving the Mighty Red and Blue as well. The rest of us must now pull our weight to pull the Dees out of the Mire and back into the glory days. Again, thank you Sid, and the others who were amazing enough to donate such an amount of money

Thanks Gouga, not only was that wrong, but it also didn't make mathematical sense. Interesting how that figure could be changed so much

Haha don't wanna be greedy but i'm hoping if half, 100 donate 6 thats 600, and 95 donate twice that, that's already about 1.75, not including if some put more in
