    GAME DAY

Jones has started doing the dive forward and drop the knees for the in the back call. I don't love it - but it's the only sign of our players thinking about the game and trying to get an edge that I've seen in a long, long time!

Not convinced he spat on him. That patch of play pretty much sums up Brent Harvey. Talented, aggressive mark, over-aggressive, patronising response to an injured player. Playing on while the man on the mark was injured to then kick a brilliant running goal. I find him imperiously difficult to admire.

    Tapscott. What's his contract status?

At least he fixed that...with a free kick against.
  5. Saved me a post... well... you know! Spot on.
  6. Not sure what you guys are talking about... After our week off in finals courtesy of our win over the Hawks, we'll have played 25 games at the end of next year...
  7. I definitely agree that our overall stats are no where near up to scratch. I'm not convinced that is the issue in and off itself. IMO there are so many other aspects - a lack of fitness affecting the kicker, a lack of fitness hindering those who are supposed to protect the ball carrier, a lack of fitness of others who should run into space, poor game plan, poor game sense, poor awareness, poor decision making and a team absolutely and utterly bereft of confidence.
  8. I get that this is, yet another, hate Melbourne (players) thread. But, really, you could try harder than claim that 60% of the ruckmen in the league who "can't kick" are Melbourne players. Furthermore - to claim that only 5 rucks in the league aren't very good kicks is being disingenuous at best.
  9. If you think that chase is excusable you haven't seen Crameri's effort to (not even) run down Wells. Dislike Essendon immensely but that was inspiring.

That, statistically, doesn't count as an inside 50.
  11. Our club has put the horse in front of the cart (the players in front of the club) for far too long and it is time to absolutely put a stop to it. This bloke talking about how the club needs to show it's moving forward by winning games - YOU'RE A BLOODY PLAYER! That's, partly, in YOUR hands!!!
  12. What I hate about the Brown one is that it's rated as medium impact. A boot to the face should not be regarded as medium impact - due to the possible consequences it should be rated as high impact immediately IMO, especially when the broken nose is considered!
  13. Hardly surprising that AA would publicly take this stance...
  14. What's the 3 word analysis on Craig's coaching - in the last 10-15 minutes especially?
  15. That said, the Trengove case wasn't so clear cut. The original penalty rested, partly, on the negative medical rating given by the Adelaide medical staff. They subsequently altered their rating of Dangerfield's injury - but this adjustment was ignored by the Panel during the appeal. Dangerfield played the next game and kicked 6 in a BOG performance. The extent of his injury was a cloudy issue even at the time yet Trengove's penalty was still enforced.
  16. Maxwell was 23 off 32 at one stage. He ended 145* from 79. 122 from his last 47. Not bad!
  17. Hardly any time this week and such minimal enthusiasm due to that disgusting rabble. 18. Interesting point. I seem to recall during our glory days that I heard commentators/players mentioning they aim for at least 25% of their total runs to be in singles.
  19. I can't see how the weather is likely to prevent England getting the win here. Indeed, if it stays away, we're likely 15 runs shy of a 2-1 lead.
  20. Great take from Haddin puts Australia right into the driver's seat. Cook gone for 62, England now 4-110 - still 417 behind.
  21. People having a go at a 19 year-old first-year player are missing the bigger picture. In fact, arguably, the entire picture. Our club is rotten. The culture is putrid. We can't develop players and are mediocre to the core. None of this is Toumpas' fault - unfortunately it is now his problem.
  22. A great game of Friday night footy. Hats off to North.
