  1. I'd imagine I couldn't give a toss what other fans say, especially if they hadn't seen him play
  2. A handball like that is listed as effective Bobby. Indeed, it's a good reason to largely ignore the "effective" stat, or at least not to take it at face value. Even a kick to a team mate that doesn't make the distance but doesn't get turned over is still asigned as being "effective". Bruce knows how to the footy, better than 90% of the competition, it's what he does with it that frustrates me. And if he used "slick" handballs, that'd go a long way to aleviating the frustration.
  3. Essendon screwing over Collingwood. Must have been an accident... haha a whole other different form of tanking. From memory there was a Spurs Man U game some years ago where if Man u won they would deny Arsenal the championship, Man U scored and Spurs fans cheered
  4. Matthew Whelan has been our best backman this decade, I wouldn't call him creative. He has played within his limits to great effect, never really kicking the ball further than 30 metres, and when he gets into the handball situation he has trained himself how to do it properly, he will handball so the other player can move into and through the space provided. Daniel Bell needn't be creative, he just has to make his disposal work for his team mates. I personally feel his awareness is his biggest issue. I'm not a coach so i'm not sure if it's something you can work on but i'm sure there'd be a way
  5. Can't believe people people here haven't yet realised that it wasn't an iceberg that sunk the Titanic, it was Daniel Bell. Looking at you Jaded and Deanox. Bell had a shocking start to the season, and that momentum seems to have carried through to many supporters who can't be bothered changing their tact. Bell gives away less than one free kick a game. Playing as a hard tackling, medium sized backman who will often have to go with players bigger or faster than him, I would've thought less than 1 free kick a game was very reasonable, certainly hardly "constantly giving them away" 13th most effective ball user at the club this year (which puts him 8 places above Bruce, 11 places above Davey, 14 places above Sylvia, and 19 ahead of Cale Morton), he'd want to improve on that because that's the type of player I think he is but it's still hardly disgraceful, 10th on the tackle count, 12 on disposal count even though he's played as a backman (only about 30 behind Buckley). He was rarely beaten toward the end of the year, and even when he was, can people honestly not see how conceeding beyond 55 inside 50's per game leaves a backman's task essentially impossible. He turned his game around, worked hard, and by the end had improved his ball use and his attack on the footy. (And yes, that kick out was shocking)
  6. Any time we play Richmond, we need to put a bridesmaid dress on a big pole with a Richmond jumper on it.
  7. over 3 million now raised, not including longer term direct debits. Amazing effort by all involved

    My Opinions

With an informative post like that, I can't imagine why people didn't like your opinions
  9. Surely it'd be the result of Melb V. W.C. and we'd get 15th
  10. But i would say Malthouse has generated their list, and isn't doing much with the player's he's getting
  11. I'd like to see some really in depth analysis of Garland in relation to the "300 minutes" stat. Zac Dawson played 70 minutes on Rocca and Rocca didn't kick a goal, only problem was that in the other 8 minutes Rocca kicked 8 goals. Depending which minutes you chose
  12. Not when they have "mentally fatiguing months" Eastie. They've got the best facilities, and through their drafting have largely dug their own hole. Pendlebury is a gun, Thomas is a good player, Heath Shaw is a gun, but aside from that i don't think there is much in their team. After 2 years out of finals and then an elimination final in '06, i was hardly surprised that a team with such a good draw was able to make the finals. They were lucky to beat W.C. in the Semi last year. How long do you give a coach who hasn't won you a Premiership? This has N.D. written all over it
  13. Gold Coast Magpies. How's the whinging that comes from this football club. Far out, worse than the Poms. They kick everyone else when they're down, had one bad incident and then had a whinge, now this comes from their insipid performance; “Quite frankly I think, given our vulnerability of where we’re going to sit on the ladder, we were extremely tired after a very, very solid, emotional, gut-busting month. “I’ve no doubt that there is a psychological let-down after (big) games, particularly if you’ve got a lot of young players. “No question about that because they’re human, they’re going to have the frailty of human nature.” Straight from the coach. Too funny. The filth are a joke, if it wasn't for Eddie and their deluded fan base, they'd be nowhere. If i were the Pies i'd seriously look at what Malthouse is doing with them
  14. I read that as Dean saying he wouldn't trade any draft picks FOR senior players
  15. How many watches has he won? 25 matches won for Sylvia, 20 wins for Lovett. Given Sylvia started a year earlier i'll take ALL of his 2004 wins away. Sylvia wins 24 to Lovett's 20
  16. Is there any way we can keep it ticking over throughout the offseason? To help it get to 5 by the start of the new season?
  17. HT, no need to get so defensive. I think it was in reference to this quote. I can't see how you can't understand why supporters would be frustrated that only 1400 out of 21,000 Melbourne members have so far donated. Obviously we all, Torpedo and yourself included, want as many members to contribute to the cause as posible. Hopefully a lot of people will show up post match on Sunday, but i also don't see why this would be what people were waiting for to donate. This function was initially, as I read it, a celebration for all the people who HAD donated. We haven't really been told much about the function itself i feel anyway
  18. Exactly, that's what i was getting at. This is one part of the season that i cannot possibly fathom. How the f%$k do we need a third colour, when basically no other teams have to? Very frustrating. Ha, because Collingwood's clash strip has a white base. They should have to use a third colour. Perhaps the only jumper we should put forward to is one with Black and White stripes. Hell, we won't need it V Collingwood so why not. Let's see how quickly Mcguire would get on ourside in any fight v the AFL. Ridiculous situation. And why does the Demon look so stupid?
  19. Why doesn't Adelaide's clash jumper need white in it?
  20. At least White's not a colour, so our colours would still be red and blue...
