  1. Not to mention a lot of the kids i look after happen to go for Sydney and Geelong, wonder how that happened...
  2. as does every team. And if they don't follow the game, why should they shell out 110 bucks to buy a membership?
  3. 21,000 MCC members say they support the MFC, to make you look a little bit better we'll say 30,000. 7000 of them are MFC members. That's nearly 25% turnover. MFC has between 180-210,000 supporters. Therefore MCC MFC members take up around 10% of our membership base, yet account for just under 25% of our total memberships.
  4. And a higher percentage of non-MCC members aren't members and won't pay the 110 to become a member. MCC/MFC memberships are increasing, and they have a pretty good percentage anyway, so i don't feel there needs to be too much extra work in this area to help tick the memberships along. Somehow the club needs to build the base elsewhere and attract new supporters, it's the small supporter base that's the problem.
  5. I'm sure a lot of other people would've wanted to move Crawford on a few years ago as they were building their youth. I don't think a side has to be 100% youth based, and i also don't feel you have to wait untill they're mid 20's until you're pushing for a flag. Green still might be playing pretty good footy for us when our window opens again
  6. Since 2000, their interstate winning percentage is 47.4%. Now the same stat gives Geelong playing 50 more games than everyone else away from home, so i assume that includes games played at the cattery, but regardless it places them as the second best Victorian team interstate and third best in the comp. Best interstate team at AAMI in that period, 9th in AFL at Subi (5th Victorian, winning their next game there would put them 3rd [ad yes they're the only team to play there less than 10 times this decade), 1 for 1 at the SCG, 4 from 6 at Telstra Stadium putting them second on percentage there behind us (and you can't whinge that "sydney don't like that ground", they're 17 from 26 there and without playing Collingwood there would be 15-5) and they've struggled at the GABBA. Don't like defending them, but tough to argue they don't play pretty well interstate, especially when compared to Victorian teams. The amount they play there, as i said, is another argument
  7. Pretty naive to say Collingwood don't travel well. Granted they travel less, but that is a different argument
  8. I always saw O'Keefe as more of a Brock Mclean type player haha
  9. I say after 100 votes we email the link to the club.
  10. It really is a fantastic Jumper, and obviously us fans really like it too! I hope the club sees this and can go with it. (And Titan, i'm glad you were brave enough to take up my suggestion )
  11. If only you didn't mean that literally BBP. Martin and Moloney would probably get a game before Bartram at the moment I'd think. Martin reads the play so well and seems to get to every contest. While in the middle, Moloney was finding some real touch I thought before his injury.
  12. Should we start a new thread with a poll? Option A = This Orgasmic Jumper Option B = ANY Other Jumper people have seen. Demon, White, any other. Could be a way to find how many people would approve this jumper over any, hopefully if the poll showed a massive skew one way, someone could send the link to the club
  13. What's the email address for the MFC guy we can send emails to? Because that jumper makes you know what you know where. Hottest thing since Raquel Welch
  14. Wakelin went to Pies for pick 49? Sounds crazy now
  15. The Dees had them....Parcelled up by 3/4 time!
  16. I like the chants bit, using it a bit too much! Be good to have an official cher squad group, easy way for people to stay in contact etc.
  17. I don't really see how we were pumping ourselves up. Isn't it funny how the same media which says we should be top 4 this year, are the first to turn and say you're rubbish after a bad start. It seemed illogical to me that we would improve after last year, with such an odd transfer window and the loss of Keane and Berbatov and a host of average, yet pretty consistently played midfielders (and Paul Robinson). Doubt that we'll go down, after all most big clubs can just spend big (cheat) in the January transfer window and win a few late games. *Cough* West Ham *Cough*
  18. It seems like a much more Americanized concept, the franchise type system where teams locations can be fluid. An idea like this could be attractive as a brand could boast of owning a team in a professional league, whose name would then receive advertising in most articles related to that sport, every depiction of the ladder, 3 hours per week etc. etc. I just don't see it being profitable or logical here, or even in the States for that matter. Though i could also see in a few years time the Hungry Jack's West Coast Eagles or the Visy Carlton Blues.
  19. Just because it happens to other players, doesn't mean it's not a weakness. The positive for Bell over Jones is that Bell is quick enough to get around them if he can improve them, Jones either tries to barge through and gets caught, or tries to get rid of it too quickly and turns it over. I don't understand the amount of negativity around Bell. He has his flaws, but there's enough there to make a very solid player out of and I believe Bailey is a good coach who will get it out of him. I'd like to see him as more of an attacking defender, it could be a way to help improve his confidence. Perhaps stints in the Forwardline wouldn't be too bad for him, but I'd prefer him to settle as a solid defender who can use the ball coming off the back flank. Can't wait forever for confidence to shine through though i suppose
  20. Well we did drop the Demons. Not many here seemed to like it, and Jimmy certainly didn't like it as it is now back. If we dropped the Melbourne, i would struggle to follow that team. As far as I see it, we would cease to be us. Commercialization can only go so far before it destroys the fabric of the very product it attempts to promote. I find it difficult to watch State cricket nowadays, what with the Retravision Warriors and the VB Bushrangers. At least that the four day version is no longer the "Pura Milk Cup." We are Melbourne. We may not have kept the same moniker, or the same jumper, throughout our history, but we have always been Melbourne. Without "Melbourne" we are nothing.
  21. I can't see how you could put it so certainly, if it's proposed as a 2nd OR 3rd round pick. Even if true, if we wanted a 2nd and they only offered a 3rd, it wouldn't go through.
