  1. Absolutely, if you don't hate Collingwood, find a new sport to follow. All this reminds me of the Federal Minister found dead wearing a Collingwood jumper. His family had to quickly dress him in women's clothing to hide the embarrasment
  2. A primary teacher starts a new job at a school in Collingwood and, trying to make a good impression on her first day, explains to her class that she is a Collingwood fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Collingwood fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says: "Mary, why didn't you raise your hand?" "Because I'm not a Collingwood fan," she replied. The teacher, still shocked, asked: "Well, if you're not a Collingwood fan, then who are you a fan of?" "I'm a Richmond fan, and proud of it," Mary replied. The teacher could not believe her ears. "Mary, why are you a Richmond fan?" "My mum and dad were born and raised in Richmond, so my mum is a Richmond fan and my dad is a Richmond fan, and so I'm a Richmond fan too!" "Well," said the teacher, in an obviously annoyed tone, "that's no reason for you to be a Richmond fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mum was a prostitute, your dad was a drug addict and your brother was a car thief, what would you be then?" "Then," Mary said, "I'd be a Collingwood fan."
  3. Why not use himself if he was that desperate? I scored 5 bucks from the match! Not much, but I'm not a big spender!
  4. It's not happening at the moment, and without a miracle it won't happen any time soon. We're going to have to find new ways of generatin supporters. It's not as easy as saying "get them on the train"
  5. Our club needs to learn the cut-throat nature of the AFL business world, and find any way to make the most out of any given opportunity to make our club strong again. If that means we play interstate clubs at Casey where we can build a home ground advantage, build a supporter base and generate income, then i'd be for it. It's better than selling home games interstate. We would still be the Red and Blue, we would still be Melbourne, we would still have the MCG as our home ground. But the reality is we need a new way to invigorate our club. I can see why you're reticent, but I don't think you can say you're sick of our club accepting mediocrity, and then reject such a positive, forward-thinking move
  6. I think any link with the MCC will stay with us as long as we exist. We did build the bloody thing. Some of us just have to grow thick skin, and move on. If we move to Casey, and do it well, our supporter base will grow naturally and hopefully strongly. I see no reason why we should alienate one supporter base in favour of a potential supporter base. Opposition fans will always give us a ribbing for being toffs, we'll just have to get over it. As long as I live, Collingwood will always be ferrals, whatever the facts. Urban myths will always surround footy, and the degenerates alike. Our MCC supporter base has dropped considerably, yet suporters of all other clubs will always ignore that. Our club touches 30,000 and no one blinks an eye. We as a club cannot afford to turn our back on any supporter base, whether it be MCC or in the Casey area. "We move away from MCC head to casey for new ties with a town that is growing and could get the supporters we need but have to much off a conection to MCC and it will jepodise Supports buying memebership" I fail to see how our connection with the MCC is stopping any growth into the Casey area. The MCC have not stopped any involvement with the area, as if they would anyway, and how it would jeopardise supporters' buying memberships is beyond me. I understand the argument about the players' race, and it's a good point that MCC members can get to any race in the ground, but non-MCC members cannot get to the race at present. It's a point that should be made to the club.
  7. Glenn Mcgrath didn't bother too much with variety, served him well in India with an average of 21.3 in India
  8. They should've been forced to fight much harder to get to that total though. India should thank Ricky Ponting for being allowed to get to that total after we had them in a difficult position.
  9. Coll and Essendon played off 3 day breaks last year. But yes, at least both teams were coming off the same short break
  10. Fair enough mate, and it's exactly what we should be trying to achieve. This forum is a perfect opportunity to brainstorm ideas to help the club, and in that way we are lucky to have such a collection of minds. What are some specific ways we think we can attract supporters/link ourselves closely to the Casey region? The more ideas the better I feel MFC vs. Casey Scorpions game, essentially a practice match where fans can meet players post match with proceeds going to charity/local hopstial Sponsor a few Junior football teams, to get our logo on some youth jumpers (not sure if this can be done but it's just an idea) Buy a pub, or something, in the area to congregate supporter bases. Trivia nights, casual nights, restaurant, I'm not sure the best way to run it but I'm sure the club could do it possitively. (Wouldn't even be a bad thing to run a normal pub with limited MFC visuals at all) Obviously it's difficult to come up with ideas when you have no experience/inside knowledge, in individual areas. But I'm sure everyone here could come up with one idea at least that would be workable. For instance, would anyone here know if the club would be able to use Casey businesses for most of its daily needs (i.e. catering, electronics, physios), pick locals to run drinks to the players at training etc. Probably useless ideas, but I'm sure we can build from here
  11. First ball mate. I must say, I cannot comprehend their attitude/approach. They played so well in the first session, why would they change it? Bat hard, make the test (and series for that matter) only winnable to one team and go from there. Don't bat slowly and let the opposition back in. Dissapointing from an Indian point of view
  12. If they were serious they'd have a lead of 350+ tonight, declare and have a few overs at us tonight. They don't seem to have that killer attitude
  13. We're just Melbourne Supporters mate, does it matters if whoever you meet there is a Demonlander or not? There's a fair bit of negativity going on here, for little reason that I can see. Denis, I love you passion, but you can't complain that only MCC members were picked, then say you were picked even though you're not an MCC member. It's a contradiction. Obviously, then, not ONLY MCC members were picked. Obviously we want as many supporters as we can, but I don't think having a negative attitude to other Dees supporters is helpful. If you see an elitist problem at the club, you need to specify examples, and specify solutions, otherwise it just sounds liek slander. You can't say MCC members just want to maintain the "clique", then quote a solution to our problem as being expansion in Casey to which most of the "clique" are more than willing to support
  14. Exactly. Our recruiting of late has been a bit of a joke, though mind you Bent has now scored more than Berbatov and Keane this season combined. Your mob going well
  15. Ranga is Benno. Old Bromby boy too, we sit near the race. Yeah I finished 2004
  16. Yeah I agree. I'd prefer Green for next year with Mclean vice, then we see how they are at the end of next year. I see these two as our best leaders (with Rivers if he could ever get fit). I love Junior but I think he's at the stage where it'll be hard enough for him to get on the park and compete consistently, let alone lead a team. Brad Green tries his guts out, plays hard, gets the footy and uses it (when he doesn't do those bloody snaps around the corner without looking) and seems to be largely respected amongst the team.
  17. Maybe Macca can captain one week, then Macca can captain the next week
  18. Tez, are you saying because he's 22 he doesn't have the respect of the playing group? I wouldn't really believe that. Do you know who the players respect and who they don't?
  19. Lol, love my wheels t-shirt cut jumper, too hot to play in though!
  20. 441. Krezja taking 8! Look what happens when you play a spinner! 8-215. 3-4 Last 2 overs, 5-19 at the end. Big finish! Game on! Mind you, doubt we'll bat well on this pitch though
  21. Are you the biggest tool on these boards? You're replying to a conversation that begun when I said perhaps next time we should call the council. Are you saying that council would have no idea that this was going ahead? On the Saturday they just randomly decided to dig a hole?
  22. But I thought it was disconcerning
  23. With you now. I understand your point and i think it's a compelling one. I think i would leave it one more year also.
