Success? 7 good games, a couple of those were rated higher because of the quality of his other efforts. Furthermore, as has been stated, 7 games is a small part of the season - it seems some think that is enough. That surprises me because I'd expect more than 7 decent games after years of poor showings to start singing someone's praises. Each to their own. I see what you mean with the trademark line, I think I worded what a meant incorrectly.

Don't worry mate, Sylvia's 1/3 of a season will beat most other player's 0/3 of a season. But don't mix this up with excusing a player with obvious talent having 1/3 of a good season. I also got sick of laying into Bruce and having that argument. At the moment, Warnock, Frawley, Davey, Mclean, Moloney, Sylvia, Green and Grimes get pass marks from me. Sylvia returning in poor form will ruin that for me, all other players are below that mark IMO

TBH I think Rich deserves it at the moment. Doesn't mean Grimes won't be a better player in the long run - which is the important thing.

They will get a PP, but at the end of the first round (i.e. before the second round, pick 17/18). If W.C. end on 4 wins, they will get a PP (which, again, comes before the round). We'd get 1 and 3, they'd get 2 and 5 with the team in between getting 4. I think.

Bell, Batram, Miller and Dunn I feel are playing for their careers and therefore deserve a place in the team in the final rounds.

Where did I say he hasn't had a good 7 weeks (please note, 7 weeks is half of the season to date). A "trademark" of kicking goals from 50-55 is an odd one to have, given many in the AFL can do it (including one Matthew Bate). I find it odd that many who have defended Sylvia for so long, not that I have a problem with that, have been so quick to immediately claim he's turned the corner and is our best player. When getting back into the team, he'd need to make sure he returns to the same form he's been in recently, or else it will end up being a good 1/3 of a season.

Wasn't there also a stat about the previous winners and how they'd all played at least 20 matches in the season? Grimes' average looks good, but they will probably, and fairly, take into account Rich winning his own ball in the middle of a top 8 bound midfield. Too early to be talking about winners I think, but if Rich slumps and Grimes continues (keep in mind he's been playing on some of the opposition's best players all season) he'd have to be a chance.

Speaking of this, and you're quite right BBP, after Jones' first game they interviewed him on the group and he exclaimed how he was a massive Saints fan. Didn't Brock live in the Northern suburbs? Bombers training may have just been the closest AFL team to where he lived.

If there was fairness he should probably win, but I can't see them going past Rich - it's so media dominated. Mind you, maybe they'll go against it to create a surprise/interest lest the award cease to exist next season.

If PJ is signed as well that leaves Whelan, Wheatley, McDonald, Robertson as my sureties with Buckley, Bell, Miller, Dunn and Bartram the other's in the barrell. They'd have to get games from here on in IMO. We won't re-rookie Valenti so he's pretty much 100% gone, is there a minimum turnover of Rookie-listed players aside from the 2 year rule?
