We played the Pies round 2 last year. The first half was eerily similar to this years... Then they won by 56(ish)

I'm very glad to see Watts play. If be happy to see him play the rest of the year - the biggest thing for him, IMO, is for him to feel comfortable on the big stage. When he does, we'll see his talent shine.

So you pretty much agree with what I wrote then... I know it's not a blockbuster that's why I used " ". It'll never, never come even close to ANZAC day. When we become a Republic it'll probably be scrapped anyway - even more reason to build the game into something. I don't think there's any set answer but I think we need to rotate it to at least get Pies fans to come along. It'll also give us another home game at the G.

I don't really agree with this. I think Collingwood would be laughing with this game each year. It gives them another "blockbuster" each year, to play on a day where no one else plays, and gives them a free game at the 'G every year where they play another MCG team without having to sacrifice a home game (though this has changed in the last few years with us playing them twice). I wouldn't be against rotating the fixture from next year on. I had a debate with Rhino about this two years ago, but I think we need to do something to get the Pies fans to enjoy the game and look forward to it rather than not rocking up to support a "charity" cause or whatever they want to call it. Sorry. But as a side note I have to mention how it humours me to see Collingwood fans rattle on about how they give us this game so that we can survive. Yep, if Melbourne didn't host QB we'd fold. Pull the other one.

Haven't seen Casey much this year, but I think the game in Darwin had a lot to do with Aussie breaking into the team. On Maric, I wouldn't be against giving him a go perhaps during the Freo, Sydney, Bris, Richmond run if he hasn't broken in earlier. He's OOC this season isn't he? I'd like to see him get a decent run in the seniors before making a decision. He's only played 11 games (which, given our record during that time, is a worry in itself). To me, he just doesn't look like he feels he belongs. Maybe over-stresses. But often I'd see him race kicks when he had more time and that sort of thing.

Meh. I get the same feeling within the first 2 and a half minutes of any AAMI stadium match. Also the first few minutes of the North match. When a team's not there to play, they're not there to play - white jumper or not.

The need for some posters to have the last word is very frustrating. Has anyone received the email about Monday? 14 Premiership players coming onto the G to be recognized for the 50 year anniversary of the 1960 Premiership over the pies. 14...one for every point the Pies scored that day.

Hopefully they get a 2003-style draft... Cooney, Walker, Sylvia, Mclean, Tenace, Trotter, Waters, Stanton, Chaplin, Billy Morrison, Luke Peel and Izaac Thompson.
