Goodwin has had a fair go, bring on Choc Williams thanks. Liking a coach is certainly not a reason to persist with him and what the team is doing onfield, again. Fitness and the continual onfield turnovers are still a major issue that top coaches would have addressed with more verve. By any measurement other clubs would have changed it all by now.
  2. "But our fwds connection was a bit off, we had a few sore players out there, our midfield struggled against a good side today, Max will improve on that, Clarry is working hard, Trac was shadowed by a good opponent, our defenders struggled a bit, we should have perhaps played a few quicker players, our delivery was a bit off, blah blah blah! .................................. This was totally unacceptable, period! We are the AFL's laughing stock.
  3. Dees have regressed by plenty since '21. Who have we managed to attract in this time? Players looking to come to Vic or the MFC disregard us completely. Fitness and disposal skills are 2nd rate. Some players must consider themselves very lucky to be getting games. Based on this form we perhaps win 6-9 games in '25............maybe !!! Recruitment team are dismally way off the mark. "Change something" Demons. Aggression for the ball is absent.
  4. There's going to be some very sad faces if we make finals but lose.... with our shots at goal being quite unacceptable. Generally we are not overly skilled in the kicking area around the ground too. It's up to the individual players to work much harder on foot disposal. Other teams have keenly addressed this but we are yet to enjoy improved scoring %'s. Quite happy with the W though, well done girls.
  5. This is one of the best "left field" picks we have made in many years. Oliver is already an elite player and just needs to settle into the tempo of AFL to potentially become a top onball player within 2 or 3 years. His size is an absolute bonus but it is his reading of the play that astounds me. There is not ever going to be a backwards step in his game. He will give you a fierce contest every time. He also has that fantastic ability to absorb hard knocks and bounce up looking for another contest. His game compliments our other onballer's skillsets beautifully. We all need to just accept that he will take a little while to settle in, but I think we have another elite young footballer at our club. A few bucks on him for 2016 Rising Star award status might be worth considering.
  6. I am/was smitten with LJ and other similar players both now and in the past.......................but they will not get any games now if they do not have any consistent defensive efforts. This is how it simply must be. Robbo would not get a game if he was a 26 yo now. No defensive pressure = no game. Our plan will be, if your opponent has the cherry then pressure the B-jeezus out of him till he coughs it up. Then have the skills developed to the point where 9 times out of ten you hit up your target. Its not rocket science but it does demand total committment.
  7. Cudos to Stynes, Lyon & co for their wisdom in going after and getting Neeld. He is a powerful breath of totally fresh air and don't the players in particular, need it? He doesn't give a f**k about previous years, coaches or players. He cannot change that. He is only interested in today and thereafter. These are the things he CAN change and is already doing so rapidly. There will be casualties on and off the field but this makes it even more exciting IMO. Players who choose to wimp it wont be wearing our famous guernsey anymore. Staff who don't perform will be shown the door. Perform, perform, perform or leave! Excuses for poor efforts will no longer be heard. Excuses don't get you results! Hardness on field will be the 1st priority, timidness will never again be tolerated. Improvement is already demanded and expected by all, on and off field. Work rates will increase across the whole club, with player's improvement and the resultant success, being the reward given. I hope the resolve and toughness already shown by Neeld gets even bigger and too bad to the players who choose not to fully embrace this ideology. "The dawning of excitement has arrived"!
