  1. Oscar vs T Hawkins. Reminiscent of a scene from David Attenborough's 'Africa'.
  2. Prepare for the storm that is about to rain down on you.
  3. If we wanted him that badly and he was keen on coming back to Vic/us, we'd be able to satisfy the Crows. Let's hope his girlfriend decides she wants to come back home because that- as he states- (along with family) will be the deciding factor. I think we're two players short of being a well balanced list. Another quality key defender and a Josh Kelly type of mid. (Someone with silky skills and a tank).
  4. Lever waiting on CBA before signing contract Get. Him. Here. 2018 backline: FB Jetta Lever Hibberd HB Hunt T-Mac Salem/Vince/Lewis/Jones
  5. Show me some vision of him being hit in the jaw at any other stage during the game. Andddd go.
  6. Haha jeez there are a lot of silly sausages on here defending two stupid, unnecessary and fairly cowardly acts. Cripps has a hairline fracture in his Jaw from Lewis. I mean holy [censored], imagine if it were two Carton players and one of the victims happened to be our best mid who was potentially going to miss because of an injury caused by a hit to the head? Demonland would be losing its [censored]. Get some [censored] perspective already.
  7. Jesse two weeks down to one and Lewis three weeks with no discount due to his record. Just announced. Was always going to happen, too many one-eyed supporters on 'land.
  8. Casboult went to block a player, something that is legal to do in the game. He hit body on body as well as some contact to the head. His intent was to block the player. Hogan and Lewis have no argument other than how forceful the contact was. The intent is a non-argument. Unless you think they were fly-swatting? Hogan is definitely gone, Lewis might get lucky. They are completely different to Casboults bump.
  9. @DeeSpencer Not sure I agree re: Lewis. His agility isn't lightening quick and generally in close, if you don't have that super quick movement going for a loose ball, it might look as if you're not going as 'hard'. But I would never question Lewies intent at a contest. Ever. Watts - Agree but what's changed? I've just accepted it and try and enjoy the things that he can and does do well. But yes, the chest marking business today had me cringing. Garlett - Similar boat. Small and slight so not a real surprise. I'll never back him in a one-on-one contested situation unless the ball is in clear space and he has a run at it. Another I just accept will have moments where he'll have some cringeworthy moments.
  10. ^ It matters little whether the oppo player milked it or not.. If you hit a player in the head with enough force, you're going to cop a week. Pretty simple.
  11. Lol. How does that work when we play a zone defence? I guess you must have missed the free kicks against and non-effective spoils he attempted last week that resulted directly in goals to St Kilda? It honestly amazes me at how easily pleased some supporters are when it comes to judging an individual's performance. Agree with Deespencer re: Tyson. Posters love a statistic around here. I wish those who continue to blindly defend players would actually watch the replay and tell me how many of his 30-odd possessions were meaningful. And that doesn't include little 15 metre kicks to a leading player on his own. They're expected at this level. I rate Tyson really highly when he's up and going. But when his skills and decision making are down, he is truly awful. And for whatever reason, delusional supporters don't like hearing that. The ball was pinging all over the place today due to errors, but if people genuinely think Tyson had a real influence on today's result, they don't really understand football. There's a reason why GWS were happy enough to let Tyson go knowing the players they had in their midfield group. And now that we've got some genuine talent in ours, I think Dom's lack of attribute diversity is becoming more and more obvious.
  12. Mistake central. Jones, Salem and T-Mac really solid and Garlett inspiring. Tyson didn't need to come in as I said. 80% mistakes, his man beat him to the contest most times. Makes us look slower. O-Mac will go straight out for Frost when Frost is ready. Happy to get a win out of a performance like that. Let's actually show up with some smarts and skills against Geelong though. Otherwise #187 here we go
  13. If we start with the same intensity we had even in the JLT game against them, we'll blow them away. Don't give them an inch from the start. Let's have the game all but over by half time.
  14. I never know why posters name outliers. Fyfe and Dangerfield win games off of their own boot and are elite in almost every facet of the game so in that regard the fact that they don't use the ball in open play all that well is almost insignificant. Agree with the opening post, we definitely need another couple of elite ball users in our side imo.
  15. I'll be disappointed if we don't win by 40 + If we're serious about challenging for finals, that should be the minimum.
  16. Completely agree but feel sorry for you given the replies you're now going to receive for stating such a thing.
  17. I'm sure it seems that way. But I'm just a frustrated Melbourne supporter.
  18. Yes. I believe it is fact that at present, Oscar is not playing to the required standard but is hanging on to his position due some circumstantial variables that are out of the clubs control at this point in time. Do I believe that the club see a future for Oscar? Yes. Clearly. Was that a contributing factor to him being played ahead of both the completely untried Keilty and the old, last-year-of-his-contract Pederson during the JLT series? Of course. Was it also a contributing factor in regards to the club deciding not to bring in another key defender over the off-season to allow Oscar to continue to develop his body and craft at VFL level? Yes, clearly. Coaches at times put unwavering faith into young players and clearly at the end of last year, Goody had some decisions to make surrounding list management. They decided not to pick up a proven AFL level key defender and we have Oscar holding up a key position pillar in our defence. In my eyes, that was a risk, because they're hoping Oscar will improve dramatically and whilst we're one game into the season, I have seen nothing to suggest he's gone up a level on last year. His last JLT game against West Coast and his game on Sunday haven't been at a AFL standard. I'm not here to bag Oscar, but I'm concerned about the weaknesses he's displayed over the past two games and I'm genuinely unsure if both Tom and Oscar will perform consistently enough for us to really be a contender in the future.
  19. For whatever reason, you're choosing to ignore the FACT that we have little alternative. Who out of our healthy list is challenging for that second key defender role? Nobody is your answer. You're right only in that Goody will continue to play Oscar at present regardless of the fact that he is underperforming because of what I have previously said. Unless of course he plays as he did on the weekend for the next few weeks, in which case Goody and the FD may find that they have no choice but to drop him. I don't understand why it's so hard for some supporters to see that positionally speaking, some players are given more leniency in regards to game-day performance simply because there is a lack of depth in that particular line. (Backline in this case). This is exactly what we're seeing atm. We saw it a few years ago with our midfield. Players were getting games because of a lack of depth and talent. And now we're seeing it with our key backs. Why is it so difficult to see this?
  20. Just scroll past a post you don't like. That action is called ignoring. Simples.
  21. It's a demonland thing that he was imagined to get off. It was clear as day he was going to cop a week. Going by both his poor record and the fact that he hit someone in the head, way off the ball. That was completely unnecessary. I mean, what was his intention if it wasn't hitting the bloke? Melb supporters can be delusional.
  22. That's my favourite stat ever. Honestly. What is that telling us? That the opposition are entering our forward 50 an awful lot under little pressure meaning Oscar will be subject to more contests? I really don't care for much of what the prospectus says because it discounts so many factors/variables that contribute to these isolated stats. If someone paid me, I'd review the entire game and look closely at every contest, possession and disposal Oscar was apart of and critically analyse whether it was effective or not. And my memory of what I saw on Saturday tells me that he contributed far more inneffective pieces of play compared to effective ones. All I imagine that you and others would see is an elementary spoil made against his opponent and go on to congratulate him on a solid game.
  23. Amazing difference. So many questionable names in Roos' first game. He mustn't have had much confidence going into that game.
