    if Caulfield's a thing:

If Porz, Rennick and Roffey can't swing a deal, not sure who can.

Is the prospect of being in the MCG precinct officially dead? If so, it would be nice for members to know that.

Re Caulfield - are we just at the feasibility stage? Does anyone know? That's where we were re Jolimont 5 years ago......

My understanding is that the Future Fund is locked away - not to be used for any new facility.

Why would we delist him, when he has been injured most of the season and hasn’t had the chance to show us his ability.

I agree. He showed some real promise particularly in that practice match against the Saints earlier this year.

Updated for McAdam trade and have assumed a 3 year contract:

We have 4 list spots.  On last year's mix that is 2 senior and 2 A rookie spots but that mix can easily change.  Melksham's status will probably be decided in the next few days.  We can create two more list spots by not renewing K. Turner's and Montz-Wakefield contracts but I'm not suggesting that should happen.

In terms of draft picks we will use one to promote Turner ie #93 or whatever it is on draft night.  We will need a pick for Brown if we take him but imv it is unlikely to be an existing pick; more likely one traded in on or before draft night.  We might end up splitting #42 for a current and a future pick like we did last year, on draft night.

We also hold a full suite of future picks and an extra F3 pick which means we can trade our F1 and have flexibility with the other picks.  I'm not expecting Sydney and Bulldogs to fare so well next year so their future picks come in quite handy.

Future second given for McAdam - but I noticed you have adjusted that in your draft picks. Thanks for all the work.

Gee just finished watching the NRL gf. Both grand finals were crackers of a game.

    It's a horrible weekend if you're a lions/broncos fan this weekend.

Unfortunately the teams that won are the teams I did not want to win.

    Footy is horrible sometimes

I agree. I hope it shows that you can love AFL, but still acknowledge how amazing that Panthers/Broncos game was. I found the commentary interesting around players who had already signed with competing clubs for next year. We haven't got to that stage yet - wonder how it will go down when it does arrive.....

Off-topic I know, but honestly it would be so awesome and so appreciated if more Dees fans could come onboard for the girls. Even if you’ve never paid much attention to the W comp you should consider it. Now’s the best time, too. This team is an absolute joy to watch. They’re in scintillating form and the vibe at matches is always good. There’s six H&A rounds remaining, even if you just attend only one, that’d be great. And for those who don’t have W membership, a ticket is only $10.

    Im not your friend, pal.

I have said this before and you choose not to get it to move on with your life - ‘administrations’ should be just that. They should get who they want for what they want and then they can get turfed out when they get turfed out. Democracy needs that to function - your ideal of elections of ‘diverse opinions’ of mates of yours just destabilise the board and cause issues. So you can stay in your naive little fairyland if you want to but there is no flag, no 70k members, and no stable club without this admin being able to be a unified group - and yes, unified enough to knife a bad egg trying to ruin a coach and deal with the consequences in court that you love to hang them with.

Ollie fan won't be happy - you're on the wrong thread.

Can you please go back to your boring thread about board governance? This is a thread about coaching!

Fair enough - I will also pass your message onto rpfc who posted on this thread:  Like with Board appointments, FMD I am glad fans have little say with appointing Yze’s replacement.

    By and large - NFI.

Sued for defamation by a person that by now you know @Demonland will not let anyone mention. A person whose own ego is driving a vendetta against your coach. And by extension your club. To drive home a point that humans are in fact human. That we are defined by the empathy we show or we don’t.

And here you are pontificating and posturing with that person’s activities and proclivities as the damnation of the board. But memory and history are the same on this; that person was removed and then the club unified and galvanised. But those with little to say but plenty to whine about have to yell something don’t they?

Oh, and my god you’re an easy bite. I kiss you and throw you back - I have had my fun. Have a good swim.

My goodness, you are fired up, late on a Sunday night.

But your fundamental point is that the "Great and the Good" shall choose our Board, and those deplorable members should hand over their dosh; shout their lungs out, but otherwise stay well away.

Not how a members' Club should work my friend.

So how are those Board appointments going? Some being sued for defamation, some not? Internecine squabbles - hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal costs. Lost a case in the Supreme Court. Lost a costs request in Perth? The Club belongs to its members - let them choose the Board rather than the Putinesque way it is done at the moment.

Have you been to our B&F? The speeches are a snooze-fest. Nothing of substance is said. Except from Kate who always starts with a big thanks to the Demon Army 😁

I’m not averse to being served below-average food, lining up for three lifetimes for a drink, being in the vicinity of rude players and enduring hours of red and blue lighting burning my corneas. It’s the forking out of $300 for the privilege of it all that bothers me.

I would have hoped that the Demon Army would get at least one table free of charge given the efforts you put in?

Why don't you nominate, you appear to do a lot of talking about how the club needs to be run.

Or is that just cheap talk?

It would be best to have a number of members nominate - hopefully members with a range of skills.

It would also be better if members received a direct email advising them of the retirements and who, currently on the Board) is required to run this year. I believe that is Brad Green this year, but we have not been advised formally of that.

Kate's letter advised of the two retirements (at the end of the season - is that now?) , but then also advises us that their replacements have already been 'welcomed to the Board'. So they have been appointed by the Board, not the members.

The next comment is normally - "if you don't like it or them you can run against them". It's a shame that it comes to that rather than going to members first.

  12. 'Under the Melbourne Football Club Constitution, nominations for election as a director generally close at least 30 days prior to the date of the AGM each year. The 2022/23 AGM is proposed to be held in December 2023. It is likely that the call for nominations for the board will be published on this page in mid October 2023.'

Above is from the Club's Governance Page. Fire up Demonlanders - if you want positive change, start at the top!

This is def a question...not a statement. But I wonder what peoples feelings are?  I think Im really hoping people refute the thought . What am i missing?

"Our time may be up" thoughts.

1./ Goody getting sued and all that press must be putting added pressure on him . Can he manage it? Is he getting supported. 2gger...and angry.

Goody is not being sued. The former Pres is suing four of the current directors, although the events around the period end 2020/beginning 2021 seem to be relevant to the case.

Many of you will be familiar with Geoff Porz, who has deep connections to the club as a 40+ year member, Foundation Legend and founding member of the Inner Sanctum. Geoff brings strong knowledge and experience in property, infrastructure and facility development, having developed assets in excess of $1.4 billion.   "

Is Geoff the man who will finally lead us to a piece of promised land, for a true home facility?

Many false dawns, but forever optimistic.

Please google him and Sarah Robinson and report back to Demonlanders.

I just had a call from Wendy at AFL, good news, the ban is being overturned at Casey Fields.  She told me she and Nicole Livingstone just got out of a meeting with MFC, who were true to their word to fight this ban on our behalf, and they're announcing overturning for Casey Fields at this stage only.  I'd like to think I played a role in this!!

    Well done Katrina! Terrific result!

    None too soon.

The scale of crowd violence at AFLW games is out of hand and I for one applaud the removal of the one specific portable lightweight and useful item which has been driving the rolling fracas.

Would've thought frisbees were more of a concern at this time.

Frisbees with arms and legs attached?

the league in its infinite wisdom has put a ban on people bringing chairs to AFLW matches over some made up scenario which has never happened of someone being able to throw a chair on to the ground.  I spoke to the MFC membership who initially didn't know about it, but then came back and confirmed that this is indeed the case.

What a ridiculous decision, it seems the AFL is trying to make the AFLW fail by limiting attendance.  I for one, a paid up AFLW member at the club, would be excluded from attending due to chronic tendonitis in my ankle meaning I cannot stand for that period of time without feeling immense pain.  I have sought advice from my physio who has provided me with a letter stating I need to sit.  The club is aware of this, and they told me they will fight against this decision to allow patrons to bring chairs, but they won't be able to do anything before Saturday's game.

What are everyone's thoughts on this?

A ridiculous decision by the AFL Katrina - how many do we expect at Casey on Saturday afternoon - 2 or 3,000?

And there is very limited alternative seating.
