Geez he has some skill below the knees and his balance is just as impressive

Short highlights package. The lowlights would run a lot longer...

Tries his guts out which is great, but we could do with an upgrade.
In relation to him finding the ball at critical moments, I wouldn’t discount this being by the design of the opposition, in full knowledge of the likely outcome.

The point is around the comms from the club. Very slow and when it comes, clear caveats on why the fans shouldn't need to know.

    Thank you for your updates.

Mushrooms. Par for the course with this group. If you think they treat the supporter base with contempt, you should hear how they talk about Casey.

  3. A Feasibility Report does represent a sizeable financial commitment towards the report itself, so you’d have to hope there’s some proper confidence it will proceed.

However I doubt they’ll expect the cost estimates we’ll receive (let alone the actual costs). The club will be basing their own estimates on the cost of Casey which will be outdated & not appropriate. For a similar facility at Caulfield my guess would be in the range of $100-120m.

I was trying to think how many players in the last few years have nominated Melbourne as club of choice for trade/free agency. Ed Landon, Ben Brown maybe others I'm missing? Either way both these players saw an opportunity for a clearly defined and needed role in the best 22. I'm hoping that McAdam has similar success in this regard. He's shown consistency as a proper lead up target with great forward craft with some genuine speed and marking ability. I don't see why he can't flourish at Melbourne.

Melksham, Hibberd, May, Lever, Tomlinson, Preuss, Brown, Langdon, Dunstan, Grundy, McAdam, Fullarton...

Collectively we spent years trying to achieve the impossible before it finally clicked that near the G is impossible. Now we are trying to get to Caulfield. That is a decade away if at all.  JC would struggle trying to find us a home.

    All I’m hearing is excuses...

no olympic park at that time was athletics vic, which mcchins much later gained by trickery

He was head of the Athletics VIC board, but was certainly acting in Collingwood’s best interests with his decisions. Had AV pay for the rebuild then quickly relocate once the new home was complete. Nothing suss there.

    So?

His coaches, full time professionals working at the elite level, judged him to he our 6th best player

He finished 9th in the bluey in 2022 and 6th this seaon. Back to back top 10s in the b&f of an afl club that finished top 4 is an objective measure of excellence.

It's plain silly to think he finished 6th only because of his pressure acts, 1%ers, effort and gut running.

i mean c'mon, it's elite level sport, not the local footy club handing out votes to the bloke who is a real trier and always does the barbie

And without being facetious, the assessment of an AFL coaching staff holds more water than the vibe based assessment of random footy forum posters.

Mad if I think he shows composure with footy in hand?

Did you miss the part when I said he was our best kick inside 50 in terms of kick to score ratio?

Sure that probably says something about his teamate, but nonetheless hard to top that stat without showing composure with ball in hand.

    Well then... you’re mad.

    This is critical.

Says two things - one he is a natural athlete. And two he must be a hard worker.

I suspect nibbla's 2km draft trial was similarly impressive and i'm guessing the role they have in mind for Koltyn is, like Nibla, the high half forward role.

As i have banged on about that role has become critical in footy and was a clear need we had to fill (ie another elite high half forward to compliment Nibbla).

Appears to have good foot skills too, which is important

Nibbla has really improved his field kicking and was our best kick inside 50 last season (as defined by kick to score ratio - our three worst were Tracc, Oliver and Gawn).

Having a player on both flanks who can hit a target inside 50 will be a big positive.

    Good get.

I think more important, is that unlike our mate Nibbler, KT has demonstrated the ability to absorb pressure and make sound decisions under both physical and perceived pressure.

Was a great time to be alive if you like good value entertainment over footy results.

And our recruiting staff were seen as a company of B-grade actors.

I call BS. Once Oliver was selected there were precious few if any calling it a mistake or asking “who is Oliver?”

    So would I! He's a gun recruiter.

I just saw the new highlights package on melbournefc.com.au in which he looked stronger in the contest than the reel I saw prior on AFL.com.au.

Funny, I reckon after we drafted him Windsor looked stronger in the contest even in the reel that had been up prior. He also looks taller, faster and more agile than I recall. Hard to understand how he wasn’t in the conversation for pick 1!

Maybe someone was trying to stash him!

Travis Cloke is the Talent “Parthway” Head Coach at ER, so could have been doing his bit for Derek Hine. Would have maybe slipped JT some intel after knowing each other before Neeld dragged him across from the dark side.

Sorry did I just drop a name & curse this draft crop?

  12. The idea that North (Clarkson) are keen on Curtin gives me hope that Duursma will slip through to 4 and we can get 4 from Hawthorn, however I think if that plays out they might elect to keep 4 anyway.

So many variables, but I think they are all pipedreams. Windsor & Tholstrup appears to be the likely outcome, and one we should be happy with.

The tank is interesting, both short term but more so long term.

If we take him there must be belief he can really run. But you’d rather see a 6 flat 2km time total for a winger than a 6:36.

The last pure winger JT took was probably sauce Baker and he took 6+ years to become an afl wing runner. Clearly the hope is Windsor doesn’t take that long.

There’s got to be belief he can contribute as a half forward or half back too.

Sauce was a speculative pick though, if we’re serious.

I think Windsor shows some promising ability to work in a phone box too. Good recruit time, damaging disposal, seems to relish hunting an opponent. There’s a bit more to like.

Because the media know nothing after the first bunch of names each year, in fact some years they barely know them. Early mocks had Oliver at 15ish. No one had Jackson top 3. No one had Pickett in the first round.

The media cottoned on to our interest in Windsor, slotted him at 11. Maybe all along he's been the 6th best name on our board. We'll find out on Monday

Funny that in one of our best draft hauls in recent history, the media immediately criticised us for having “reached” on both Jackson & Pickett.

If they're any good the AFL will 100% come up with a package to get them to kick start the Tasmanian team. Special "marketing" salary cap bonus.

It's pretty rare to have such high quality in the draft from Tamania. They'll be in the perfect age range. It's an irresistible prospect for the AFL.

Yeah, can’t remember too many in recent-ish years. Chayce Jones? Jesse Lonergan? Jackson Thurlow? Kade & Jake Kolodjashnij?

    Mitch Robinson??

I’ve forgotten, what picks did we offer to try to move up the first round last year?

Probably Freo’s then F1 which looked like it could be in the teens, with scant chance of it being close to top 10.
