There lies the problem. He is in WA but does not play for us any more.

Correct, the problem was he wants to be in WA and NOT in Melbourne.

The club didn't get rid of him, they traded because if he had stayed he would have walked out at the end of this year with or without a premiership, that so many people on this site think he would have delivered  for us.

I have a feeling I’ll be crying into my wine by quarter time as Buddy kicks his 17th goal.

I think I am correct in saying that Buddy hasn’t played in a loosing team against Melbourne. Time to break another Hoodoo DEES ?

  3. Has anyone seen Jesse Hogan around the club or at the training sessions since we made the finals? I was there for about 1.5 hours on Saturday but didn't see him. Just interested that he has not been in the media or visible leading up to the finals. Would have thought he would be out encouraging the boys and having a profile and showing his support. Thoughts??

    Another year down the drain.

FFS i have been as positive as anyone for the last 2 months... even the Pollyannas who can never see a single bad thing about us.

I was wrong. Really, REALLY wrong.  Today was the day. Today. Not next week, not round 23.... TODAY.

We won't ever be a genuine threat whilst our so-called leadership is so insipid when we need them. I have been a huge supporter of Jonesy over the years, but I owe an apology to all the posters who claimed he wasn't much chop as a leader. You were right and I was wrong. Unless you manage to drag us over the line in one of the remaining games Nathan, you don't deserve to be captain of this club.

I am just so fukking angry AGAIN right now. You bastards owe me a new liver and 2 kidneys for all the alcohol I have consumed to cope with the disappointment you lot have inflicted.

    ANOTHER WASTED YEAR!!!!!!!!!

    AAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

    *Pulls hair out.

P.S. Trade Hogan while he is worth something.

(My 76-year-old father just called while I was typing this.... he said "2 more weeks and the suffering is over"..... I practically screamed at him to GAGF.

I hate what this club has done to me.

Agree get rid of Hogan while we can as he is not going to get any more currency next year.

Nathan Jones chance to kick a captains goal out on the full.  Anyone that things we are mentally fragile is kidding themselves.

What about F@@king Hogan four getable goals missed them all.

he could have won the game for us doing what he gets paid a lot of money to do , kick set shots from well with his distance. Lay off Jones, Hogan can only dream of being half as good a player for our club as Jones has been.

Garlett can not be retained after that.... 0 tackles for a speedy small forward, I mean come on man, get serious and respect the jumper.

Then we need to trade Hogan. Four set shots at getable distance and angles two go through and game won. None go through we loss. He is never going to deliver on his potential. Just hadn’t got the right stuff!

Hawkins is 30 (as we were told 4 million times last night) and has copped his fair share of criticism over his career - he had a night out, which happens occasionally

Dont you think that Hogan is still plying his craft?

Yes he is and that is why we would like to see him ply his craft as a Key forward that leads and strikes fear into the opposition backs. Running up the wing and being in the centre is not going to help him as a forward. He needs to learn to mesh with the other forwards, understand the running pattern so he can lead and hit the scoreboard. Hogan would be one of our worst skilled  players below the knees.

Hogan needs to watch a review of Hawkins goals to learn how a good key forward needs to play. Hawkins got 5 of his goals after making fast leads and, as a result, marking the ball virtually uncontested.Hogan doesn’t lead. He prefers to stand still and try and mark within a pack, usually one handed. Tom Mac can mark in a pack - Hogan can’t. Hawkins got his other 2 goals from desperate ground play. Hogan is rarely desperate for the ball once it hits the ground.

    Hogan is a worry.

Agree with you. You would think with a ex Geelong player and ex development coach in our box that by halfway through the 3rd they would be telling Hogan look at the way Hawkins is playing this ground and stay in the F$#king goalsquare! It drives me insane to see Spargo and Jeffy flying against their backs and resting rucks, but see that Hogan has clocked up heaps of kms run up and down the wing. Last week when he got his goals in the second half it’s because he was staying in the forward line and drawing the free. It’s either Hogan has the club over a barrel and demands to play his way when he won’t or the coaching team can not coach a player with so much potential and play him in his best position for the team.

    I'd day more than that.

The Lewis free was rubbish.  The free that led to the 50 against Oliver was rubbish.

The 50 against Melksham was rubbish.

The 50 against Tyson and Viney for entering the protected zone was there.

    That's 4.

Plus they got goals from two players handballing to runners on the F50 because we were asleep.

I've probably missed something.  Everything that could go wrong did.

    Coaching, selection, players.

Can anyone else confirm that the MFC put an official “please explain” request into the AFL umpiring department last week after the Port Game? If it’s true it explains the biases performance today from those maggots. I hope we go again because we seem to never win the 50 50 decisions. Not saying we didn’t play well but there were 6 decisions today that gave them goals/ scoring opportunities directly influenced by the maggots.

We simply cannot carry petty he needs go go

Concern for me was that when Petty made his mistakes NOT ONE senior player got around him and supported him. Poor leadership across the board.

  11. Hogan on notice. Been in the system long enough  and has never produced in a big game. Yes deliver wasn’t there but when has it ever been there for him. He kicks goals against the lower teams but doesn’t produce on the big stage. If he had played one quarter tonight like he did in his first year we would have won even with the worst umpiring I have ever seen. Yes I know many of you will come after me but state facts not just excuses for him.

  12. Let’s face it we were just not good enough tonight. Yes the umpires were [censored] , we had multiple passengers but when we had the chances earlier in the game we didn’t take them. Some of it is inexperience but most is team mix. The coaches and FD picked the wrong team tonight.

For those getting stuck into hogan, he has covered the 5th highest distance on the ground. He’s working hard but not being rewarded by his team mates

No one is having a go. Running that distance is of no use if you are paid to be a goal kicker,

he just doesn’t seem to know what he should be doing,

Hogan is not the problem. Port are successfully holding us up at the wing, flooding, and he is surrounded by 4 or 5 guys at every contest. There has been zero adjustment. He needs to move up the ground and we need to be cleaner across the middle of the ground. It is not so much delivery going forward that is killing us. We are simply allowing them the freedom to flood.

Not saying he is the problem just that he is out of form. Friday night and a big game is were he should dominating. Instead he is missing chest marks and not reading the play.

  15. As a 20year Redlegs Family Member I was very disappointed that the Club has sold off one of the Rooms that our membership level gets to use during our Home Games. We were informed last night that we will not have access to the Lindsay Hassett Room  for our biggest home Game against Collingwood on Queens Birthday, because PJ and his team have sold it to a sponsor.

The Premium Memberships are up 11% this year and one of the key benefits is the use of this Room which is the main area that we meet up, pay extra and have guests in for the big games like Queens Birthday. We will still have the use of the Jack Ryder Room which can only hold about 400.

We have five of our mates who all live in Regional Vic and Canberra(They are all country/interstate members) who come down for this game Every year and we use it as a great catch up day. Now this year there will be less guest passes and no room for us to meet in.

There is nothing on the web site or any communication from the club re this, yet they are still selling this level of membership and the benefits it can provide.

With our poor start to the year on the ground the club should be looking after all members and not short changing us. My Family membership at this level is substantial, plus the other support we give on game day and through other events that the club holds.

I ask all Premium members to email the club and voice their concern. There was some talk in the room last night of staging a protest outside the room ,which would be very embarrassing for all concerned at the club.

Looks like the club is putting sponsorship before membership. All of these managers are on bonuses bases on turn over. I have no problem with this as long as it is not at the cost of disenfranchising a very loyal and profitable membership level for the club.

I'm going to say it again unfortunately we have to many good VFL/Local Comp players that will do OK at Casey but just are not up to AFL level. I start with Stretch (his old man would be disappointed) then Harmes, ANB, Wagner, Brayshaw followed by Garlett, Hunt, Vince and Hunt. The biggest problem we have is the guys to replace are not much better. Therefore I have no answers and seeing I have followed this rabble since 64 and paid up member I can only hope I see some effort, improvement, guts and determination before I go.

Need to realise after 5 rounds we ARE JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Need to turn the list around again.

Sorry but better judges of football talent then most on this site, say we have a good list! As we have had in the past, our problem is developing this talent. So I see it as the coaching not being able to get their message across to the playing group. It started with the camp issue and it keeps building. There is a big break down of communication. Having been to training a couple of times this year, the players don’t run into each other or getting in each other’s way as they did last night and last week. So why on game day? No leadership? No direction? Poor coaching with to much instruction? No clear message? Not sure but they better get it right soon or the season is gone and our membership will be back in 30,000’s again.
