  1. I visit a friend up there from time to time. Played teven valley last time. What a little wonderland that course is.
  2. If Clarry goes and pert stays I am officially out. It will give me much more time on weekends to work on playing on the champions tour. The short game still needs work.
  3. Trac isn’t better.
  4. Fans don’t seem to love getting bundled out in finals anymore than finishing in the bottom half. This place is evidence of that. Where you finish is relevant within some contexts, 2nd, 10th or 18th can mean different things at different times, but in ten years time it won’t mean a thing to anyone unless you won the flag.
  5. It’s not a stretch to say he inherited the first one. The second one is credit to him. Being there abouts every year doesn’t seem to be a great strategy. Especially for supporters. The last three years have been brutal. Eventually being there abouts counts for very little historically. Who cares where anyone finishes outside of first.
  6. So is it better to hang out in above average mediocrity land like he has than to ride the ups and downs like hawthorn have? If it’s not about flags how do we measure? I agree with you, but which things do we include? Stability of the club makes you look a better coach than you are. Luck of the list you inherit. Luck of those who work alongside you. I think there’s a better argument to be made that Geelong are run well than there is that Scott is an amazing coach.
  7. Chris Scott and Geelong are over rated. Apparently if they play finals it’s evidence of their greatness. If we play finals it’s evidence of our failure. 2022 is judged harshly on here but is looking more and more like some kind of feat. As is the following year, based on the previous two. Home and away records shouldn’t be sneered at. Judging coaches is a very difficult thing to do from the outside. Wins and losses and finals records are not the whole picture of what someone has to work with. Is Clarkson a genius or did he just get lucky with his list? Who you have to play/coach against at the time has a lot to do with it. It’s very possible some coaches who achieve nothing are great coaches in clubs who can’t give them what they need. Geelongs record hasn’t amounted to heaps and it is still unclear that their approach is the best way to build a club.
  8. Revisionist history?
  9. The difference between listening to direct sources and listening to journalists these days is vast. there are the actual people and clubs involved and then there are the characters the media talk about that often have little in common with the actual people and or clubs.
  10. So if we listen to direct sources, not much happened. Players, coaches, administrative staff have been having conversations about getting better. Pretty standard end of season talking points. if we listen to the media, everything happened, the sky is falling and the club is a cesspool of sub human types with bad intentions and they are bad at their jobs. I like that the club took its time and wasn’t playing the media’s game or working to their schedule. I’m sure some staff will move on from the club over the off season and that’s probably for the best. Some renewal is always necessary. It’s impossible to gauge how serious this was based only on listening to media speculation. why is it we all know the media are full of [censored] yet when they talk about us so many can’t help but try and read the tea leaves without realising the tea leaves are manufactured and those discussed are caricatures not necessarily built on reality.
  11. We shouldn’t let the media make us furious. It means you’ve let them win. We should rise above their target audience which is lower mid and below type intellects and I should hope we are all a bit better than that
  12. Why is it that we are so hated? I’ve only recently come to realise how much other teams supporters genuinely dislike us. I always thought we were too irrelevant to hate. I guess it has to do with our history and our supporter profile skewing wealthy, whether or not that is accurate or a cliche I’m not even sure…
  13. A football club is huge. Talking to trac is one thing. Talking to his family is another. Who the [censored] talks to an employees family? Maybe she’s happy to let people do their jobs. Hire good people, let them do their job. Simple stuff.
  14. You reckon our football department hasn’t already done a lot of that planning throughout the season and continue to do so? Many people are turning up to work and doing their job at the club still despite the media also doing theirs.
  15. It’s not her job to speak directly to trac. There’s a football department and there are well being specialists, career specialists, psychologists, etc. It’s also possible they’ve decided that it’s best not to overwhelm the guy too. If the whole club decide to call him at once that’s probably not great either.
  16. You are biased against the club sir. There’s no indication that’s true
  17. why? We can’t have everyone on the phone to him. If others are then it’s fine
  18. Calm down @Dr. Gonzo
  19. I’ll still boo him next year even if he’s in our jumper.
  20. He’s definitely gone then!!
  21. What concrete evidence do you have for our cultural issues?
  22. Great clubs like who? Collingwood, who have had many cultural and player issues aired publicly. Hawthorn who have had massive help from the afl in sweeping their racism issues during their glory days under the rug. West coast or Essendon and their drug problems? Just cause it’s our turn doesn’t mean other clubs haven’t copped [censored] too. Doesn’t mean they handled things any better than we are. We can’t judge how we’ve handled it yet.
  23. right up until he nearly lost his spleen.
  24. But was number one for score involvements in the league.
