  1. Between all the terrible umpiring, the lack of continuity at the tribunal and all the other nonsense the afl is guilty of I think we all as fans of all clubs should come together and find a way to protest the afl. By the afl I mean head office. They are a bunch of unaccountable so and sos who abide by no rules and the general feeling amongst those I talk to across all teams is that they don’t like the way the game is run. Maybe a boycott could be in order…

Agree. Roy (JVR) better stand up soon. I think he got more touches tonight than usual, but how long is a work in progress?

It’s his second year. Perspective please. He’s a key position player. They take time.

Just listened to Scott's interview, he.s really all over the place with his answers, sounds like he has NFI.

Seemed like he didn’t want to give us credit so spoke around most of the questions.

Jackson was an above average second ruck. JVR is nowhere near Jacko. JVR really needs to do more. He's not clunking marks (he's a two-grabber and that makes it easier to spoil), not kicking goals, not even flattening a few opposition players. Why is he there? Answer: there's no-one else.

He’s a second year key forward progressing at a rate comparable to many great key forwards over the years. He’s there developing and doing so in a messy but pleasing fashion

He didn’t do his job last night tho, he was invisible for most of the game. Same for the first half against the Crows.

And it’s not that I don’t think he’s not very talented and good, but I just don’t think we maximise his talent by only playing him in one set role.

We struggled to get the ball over half way most of the night, why have your best forward constantly out the back if the ball never gets there?

Get him leading up to the wing and getting the ball and worry about who’s inside 50 when it gets there

I don’t think it was the forwards fault. He’s not a bash and crash contested pack mark kinda guy. If everything up field is broken what chance do the forwards have. They are the last piece of the puzzle. They can only provide adequate service if they are provided adequate service.

If it helps I feel the same way about him after most wins?

And yeah, some guys don't come back the same after premierships. Smart clubs address this, they change roles, they demand more.

If we want to win another flag we need to change our method and get more from certain players

He’s continued to kick goals though, as per his job description. He’s unfortunately our main forward and is up there with the best in the league at that job, despite his size. No he’s not necessarily tough and I have seen him take a few short steps over the years. I’ve also seen him show great courage in the air. I like that he shows a bit of arrogance at times. Sometimes our team seems to go out of its way to keep its head down a bit too often. He’s not a bull and there’s a certain element who seem to think if you aren’t jack Viney than you are lacking something but Fritschs strengths well and truly over power his weaknesses. A team needs balance. He has been one of the best forwards I’ve ever seen at the club.

I must be on my own on this forum as there’s plenty of other posters who don’t rate Carlton.

I seriously rate Carlton and have them in the current top 3 seedings.

They have every position covered with star material all over the place. It starts with their “Steve May” (Weitering) down back and ends with the two best key fwds in the league.

Unfortunately they also showed that they could handle the big MCG finals moments which will hold them in good stead in September.

(Hope I’m wrong and they cop a loss today)

Did they really handle finals last year? Yes they beat us but could we have tried any harder to keep them in the game. It was one of the most dominant losses I’ve seen

  8. I always thought Draper was horribly over rated. He just flails around being semi physically dangerous because of his size and every now and then a thing happens not as a result of skill, talent etc but as a result of pure chance. Inevitably if you flail around on a football field for long enough something will happen.

The amount of times the dog ran away during that last quarter because we kept losing our mind… he is still mad at me today 😂

My dog leaves the room as soon as it hears the crowd on tv. Knows what’s coming

Your constant conspiracy theorising is tiresome.

Also, probably not accurate here. How much media was generated by their 0-3 start? It was all over every paper and website. The more they lose, the more attention they get.

Disagree. We all need some good conspiracy theories in our lives. Would this even be an internet forum if there wasn’t a few conspiracies floating around.

I must say I may of been overly strident with my views during the preseason. Last years finals really [censored] me off 😂

Me too, I was ready to not pay much attention to the football this season. I was kidding myself though

In my preseason ramblings I clearly stated that we could finish anywhere from 1 - 12 based on our pre season. I’m edging closer to 1 after watching them. There’s a resolve, a clear hunger and want atm. I like it but there’s 20 more games to go before our season really begins. This is the fluff

    Fair enough and I agree

Agreed. Did you hear the line about Kozzie? "He's been good the last 2 weeks after a quiet game against Sydney" He clearly didn't remember Kozzie was suspended for the Sydney clash. The rest of the commentary team fell silent after that line

Most commentators have no idea about football these days.
