  1. I work in the wine business. I represent a Beechworth Winery owned by a super guy who was on North's list in the latter part of Barassi's years. For the last eight weeks he's rung and asked if I'd bought my finals tickets yet. I kept saying not yet. Last week he said I was a fickle supporter. I replied he who laughs last hasn't heard the bad news.
  2. I like the gist of what you say. Yes, we were slaughtered injury wise but there is so much more work to do, especially with disposal.
  3. No Doubt. Also, no doubt, said in jest.
  4. The strange 2017 season for the Demons ended appropriately, in other words, almost there but not quite, reason being, we stuffed up when we didn't need to. No use now dwelling on what might have been, time to look towards 2018. What do we need? A back up ruckman who is reliable and can get a kick and take a mark. A backline that doesn't have as many holes as a rusty plastic sieve. To find a player or two who can and will deliver more than the sporadic contributions players like Harmes, Stretch, Hannan, Wagner, Vince and Tyson consistently deliver. A big, big improvement in our turnover ratio. An appetite to get the job done from the opening bounce, to stop relying on catch up footy. That's my 2 bob's worth. So near, yet so far. Rue the day, lads, that you allowed North to beat you twice, Freemantle once too often and Hawthorn when they were seriously down and out. So as you reap so shall you sew.
  5. John Nichols, I presume, ya idjit..
  6. The trouble with pies these days is they've lost their gristle content. There's nothing left to chew on...
  7. If they weigh a whale at a whaleweigh station, where do they weigh a pie?
  8. I'm nominating them in order to come up with some appetizing trade bait...Harmes is a goer but he doesn't deliver often enough - how many really good games has he played? - Bugg is tough but limited, Wagner has great potential and I'd hate to see him go, ditto JKH, but once again, he's had some chances and has yet to nail one.
  9. Why get rid of Kent? Expendable I think are: Trengove Hullett Garland Kennedy Frost JKH Wagner ( Though I think he's one of the greatest geniuses that's ever lived.) Bugg Harmes Spencer The problem is that they add not much currency trade-wise.
  10. This would be the Trade of the Century for the Demons. I like Frost's run but he is limited. I also stress that were Frost to remain I'd also be happy. Many limited players have been involved in premierships: Graeme Wise, Sheedy's love child Kevin Walsh etc etc
  11. To the extent where he was held while competing - in the last or second quarter - while the ball in dispute about 15 metres out from our goal. If it was Dangerfield or Eddie being held like that one of the three blind mice umpires blows a whistle...
  12. You are very funny and that you aren't aware of it is very ironic.
  13. Tier's post is a bit lop-sided for mine. It fails to acknowledge how well Brisbane played and it fails to acknowledge that Goodwin and Co do have a game plan, a plan which has seen us win 12 games despite major injury and tribunal setbacks. Also, we should have/ could have beaten Hawthorn, North, Freemantle, Richmond and Geelong...
  14. I've just watched the replay. This was a good win with contributions from all players. Brisbane are a good team at the moment. The Demons would have lost this in the past but they now know how to win. Players like Stretch, Wagner, Vince and Garlett who have copped a bit of stick in this thread made contributions when needed. In many ways the style of play on show on Saturday bypassed the likes of Stretch and Garlett simply because in the end, there wasn't a lot of mopping up to be done due to the fact that Hogan and Pedersen were so clean. I'd still love to see Salem, Watts and Viney in this side...
  15. 6: Hibberd 5: Pedersen 4: Hogan 3: Jones 2: Petracca 1:Jetta
  16. I was there when Ivor Warne Smith won a Brownlow. You get to my age quite easily if you have a teenage daughter. I must be one hundred and forty seven at least. That's how old I feel.some days.
  17. That report was a joke!!!!!
  18. Did you know I was there the day he kicked 18 goals?
  19. Hey, Silly Boy, did you hear that the van they found in Barcelona - like the van they found in France - contained the passports of the Muslim Terrorists? Sigh. They are not only evil rapists, they are just plain dumbos. Also, Silly Boy, did you know an FBI dude - who later went to jail for fraud - found intact the Passport of the Chief Saudi pilot in the rubble of the melted twin towers? This proves my point that Muslims are just plain dumbos, that we Christian white folk are simply way TOO intelligent , we just outsmart them EVERY TIME. And, when we can't outsmart them enough, like when the twin towers have melted, when all has melted into white hot rubble, God with His superior GPS helps us find their intact passports. It's almost like one of them Hollywood movies, full of raving Arabs and/or Indians, and guess what, the white guys always win. At least now we know why we've always won. Get my drift?
  20. Didn't know you were so wise.He sure is!
  21. Lost count of the number of times Watts had led to an advantageous position only be totally IGNORED by the player with the ball.
  22. No way, you're a leftie like me. Anyway, I drove him in a taxi in 1991 from Kew and asked him why he left the Demons. He replied he'd done all he could there. He doesn't even look like you...
  23. I'm Ron Barassi. I lost the 58 Grand Final because I wanted to kill the dude who thumped Laurie Mithen.
  24. I watched him in the flesh against Box Hill Hawks. Be patient, this guy is the real thing. He needs confidence more than anything. He can kick, he can mark, he's a ferocious tackler and some half decent delivery wouldn't go astray either. And as he grows he'll be able to deal better with the kind of physical attention he receives week in, week out. Remember, he's a Wiedemann.
