  1. Not really. Under the MFC rules it goes something like this. 1. The Chairman is elected by the Board from amongst its numbers. There is no requirement that the Chairman be an elected Director. 2. A person can become a Director by election by the members or by invitation of the Board to fill a casual vacancy. 3. All Board members must be elected by the members. In the case of a Director who joins the Board by invitation to fill a casual vacancy, that Director must retire at the next AGM (usually held in December) and is free to nominate for election at that AGM. 4. A Director is required to retire at the third AGM following the AGM at which he/she was last elected. The only exception to the 3 year rule is that if in a given year no Director retires by application of the 3 year rule or by resignation then at least one Director must retire and can stand for re-election. So any appointment to the Board to fill a vacancy must retire prior to and be voted upon at the next AGM. This is a usual practice with Corporates. You have the opportunity to vote for or against the appointee at the next AGM. I think Rogue has it right on this.
  2. They will slowly be rolled off the list at contract end over the next 2 years or if they do have any worth to the team at their reduced market value.
  3. If MFC can stitch up a satisfactory deal with Casey then I am supportive of linking up with side where we will have access to better training facilities and a better quality ground for football. While I have enjoyed the trips to the TBO, the arrangement has benefitted SAndy more than MFC and I am glad its over. As part of the deal with Casey, I would want to ensure that MFC has greater input in the selection and use of its players including the development of young players.
  4. Its not long enough for MFC to be truly competitive with the big guys. If by chance we do make the 8 in 2010, I doubt we would seriously challenge just at that point. I dont think we will be bottom over a 4 year period. I would expect us to be bottom half in 2009 and 2010 but with the momentum of a maturing playing group. I actually think there is alot of potential in the youth in the side but it will all be for nought unless we supplement the list with some real talent. Given the concessions to new interstate clubs it might be our last good shot at it for some years. So which clubs will want a fit determined player with questionable decision making, not fast and poor foot disposal for their first round pick? Hmmm.
  5. The photos would be either blurred or he would need a one touch digital camera to compliment his style
  6. It would take Jamar 5 rounds to run up those stats. Frankly the best thing about White's game at the moment is Jamar! Your example is a true rock and a hard place choice. I think Hannibal is close on Jamar. The only upside (if indeed it is one) is that we could not be paying Jamar too much....could we?? BTW, I am not in the support team of CJ. I just think Yze is finished and has been for some years and its got more obvious over that time.
  7. When you have been an underperforming bottom dwelling club, very few if any players would be good enough to be core at a club that is seriously challenging. I dont think there are many as you have pointed out. You are rather blinkered on TJ. He is very talented but lazy and a culture sore. He was never going to perform in MFC's culture. A perfect example of a good trade. He may well compliment the existing Lions midfield more than capably. Time will tell. I would not write it off yet. I am not sure what Green and pick 35 would give a Club seeking to challenge that they would not be able to extract from their own list and a quality pick 12.
  8. Now you are being delusional! None of those players would attract such a bid. FWIW, I think Robbo and White are close to the end and will finish their careers at MFC. The players we shop around are going to have to be ones that have some value to other clubs and are outside a likely premiership window (4 to 5 years). Bruce might have limited value (possibly 30 to 40) and Green somewhat lower. I dont think anyone would argue about career protection. Its the limited window we have to start to address it.
  9. Vibes, Franky, I am not sure what the real impetus to save White and Yze based on their performances to date. After such an insipid display against St Kilda and other games during the year, White must be cashing in his tickets very quickly. I cant see us giving him another year. We need to get a capable replacement in the off season. At present Collingwood are one of the hardest pressuring and tackling sides in the AFL. I think you are digging up fond memories believing that QB will be a stage Yze will command. As he has shown with greater regularity in recent years, when the pressure is on, Yze is melted butter. His cheap stats on Sunday did little to alter that view. I'd rather play CJ than Yze in the faint hope that........very faint hope that he will give us something for the future.
  10. I dont think I have seen any posts saying that we would get a top 10 pick for either Bruce or Sylvia. If there was it would be single post and I missed it. I think the posters on this Board are more pragmatic here. How much do you think a bottom club's surplus is worth on the trade table for other clubs? Particularly the worst midfield in the AFL. Is Jones a pick 15? I doubt it. In a midfield missing quality I would have thought Moloney is surplus and not worth much. And why when the comments about this draft being good out to the first 20 should we be risk managing the decision if we get a dud? I would suggest that trading this year like most years will not yield many deals. If we are going to get a first round draft pick, which MFC player do you realistically think would draw that value from another club? And Hannibal is right if you think we will be in contention in 2 years. And if it is believed to be taking 10 years, Bailey may as well toss the towel now. Rogue is spot on. You cannot possibly build anything for so far in the future.
  11. If you do your study, the Hawks have built their list over six years from receiving a number of draft picks from having finished low on the ladder and from making judicial decisions on senior players like Thompson, Hay and Everitt. The mid age players you crow about are a number of very good picks achieved in the 2001 draft. It was a good legacy from Schwab to Clarkson that the six choices they had have all been good pick ups. The picks provided from those trades supplemented draft picks accredited from the picks they got from their ladder position and a couple of PPs. It allowed Hawthorn to develop a drafting strategy in the way they used all the picks. To deride trading because the pick you got with it did not succeed is erroneous and simplistic and ignores other issues of poor choice of that pick. And if draft picks do not allow you to build a team that ultimately wins a premiership then how pray tell do you achieve the nucleus of one?....Through the PSD.
  12. If we were good enough to get into a AFL GF, I would be happy with just that!
  13. I dont think its a good analogy. Given the ever changing costuming in World Cup cricket, I think bad outfits are as much a part of it as the legside wide. From a football perspective, Carlton's light blue abomination, St Kilda's "poached egg on the road" design and MFC's whatever it is looks as awful at the start of the match when scores are even as at the end when the game is decided. Its the worst design of any alternate guernseys MFC have had and created a clash with the Saints.
  14. I certainly think he would and I would too. If we did have a big win, how shallow would it be to celebrate it in a jumper that means nothing to nobody.
  15. Agree. Sylvia's challenge is the same as Bartram and Millers. They need to justify their selection. After 5 years on the list Sylvia has shown he could be a steady capable player for MFC. However, I have seen little to suggest that he would be the "star" we crave for.
  16. Yes. I agree. Alternatively, you could argue that Yze played exactly to expectations. Staged frees, no tackles, no defensive pressuere and junk time goals. No surprise. It still raises the question that given what Bailey has been espousing, how a player who has diminished to playing spasmodically for easy soft ball gets is selected and what he brings in the modern game if you are serious about winning.
  17. A family member looked after Tarzan Glass in his final years. I was told that Tarzan had a prolapsed disc in his back courtesy of a king hit from behind from Captain Blood Jack Dyer. I have heard from old time supporters that Tarzan was as tough as nails. Great story. Good luck with your endeavours.
  18. Its worse than the Blues light blue M&Ms jumper and the yellow white and black of StK some years ago
  19. Two good posts in a row Graz. Our senior players, White, Bruce and Yze were lamentable today and were at best bit players. Too many shortcuts and easy options. White took a big step towards retirement today.
  20. Valenti will keep his spot and Grimes can come up onto the main list. I cant see Zomer being elevated until he earns it. If he is finding his feet in Sandy 2nd he aint ready for AFL and he is unlikely to unseat Saunter at Sandy.
  21. Good points Scoop. I am not sure how selecting Yze adds to a winning culture especially considering the other aspects Bailey has been championing.
  22. Its a good discussion but a few points 1. There are approx. 100,000 MCC members who fork out approx. $600 each to have right of access to a seat/entry to the Members Reserve. Its four times the basic AFL Club membership and while it gives access to a large number of games, not every one wants to go to every game. 2. There are approx. 20,000 seats in the MCC members reserve. There is not enough space if every MCC member decide to turn up and seek admission. 3. The subscriptions of the non attending members finance the facilities and services for members that do attend. Without them annual subscriptions would be potentially higher if only attending members subscribed and the dormant members did not. 4. Higher usage rates by existing MCC members could influence the MCC committee to slow down the intake of new members thereby extending waiting list time for aspirants. 5. Outside limited pre booking and subject to member rules no seats can be reserved. They go first come, first serve. 6. The lack of a reserved seat can often dissuade MCC members from attending at the last moment of events. If you have ever tried to chase down a couple of seats together in the MCC reserve when a big game is on you will know what I mean. 7. Many/most MCC members have also had to spend time on a waiting list and for many the waiting list was as long as 20 years. 8. The cost of membership has risen significantly over the years and for age 20 something new members the cost of membership entry is another financial challenge for them particularly if they dont intend to use it much. I wonder if that affects take up rates of new MCC memberships in recent years? 9. However, for the level of access to football and cricket over a 12 month period and quality of the facilities in the new MCC reserve I think the membership is good value. However every one makes there own assessment.
  23. Thanks. No wonder its creates problems! B) So is OP mainly focussed on the adductor muscle or both?
  24. Geez. You cant help but admire and love the guy. Has carried this Club in more ways than one for a long time. Deserves two laps of the ground for character performance and endurance. He deserves all the best in his future. A great Clubman without question.
  25. Nice try. The abductor is actually an adductor.
