  1. How much better a player is Steve Johnson in the past 2 years since he became a team player who abides by team rules on the ground who is accountable when he has and does not has have the ball? He is gone from a talented and lazy self serving show pony in 2006 to easily one of Geelongs top 5 in a premiership team. If only.......
  2. Maybe they werent as obvious as Yze's. I guess you just cant tell just reading the paper.
  3. Bub, no problem with that. He looked unprepared for the obvious questions Lane put to him. He needs a lesson or two from any wily politician who knows that you only give the answers you want to give regardless of the questions being asked.
  4. Alleluia brother. I hear the Lord. For someone who either deliberately upstaged a major Club event or allowed himself to be used by the media to do so, he has told us nothing of what he is going to deliver and who is behind him. Now I have read his book...great ....now who is on his ticket and what is he going to deliver? I loved Jimmy Stynes the player, I have donated a couple of times to Reach Out but putting the hoopla aside.....what is Stynes going to deliver? BTW, if his half time performance yesterday with Tim Lane was a guide, Jimmy needs to convince himself of what he is saying not just others. He struggled yesterday and there will be far harder interviews and examiners than Tim Lane.
  5. Sorry Kit. Those players that called for the ball 20 metres out from goal straight in front with no one on them really have alot to answer for the way they distracted Yze from doing what he does best. Keep looking at the stats in the paper if you cannot work out what is happening during the play.
  6. .....and curtsy after every interview. Rogue has got it spot on here
  7. Man we should dump him for that! I also saw the rest of his game. I thought he was good and I dont damn him for one indiscretion. Yze had 4 bad clangers.
  8. YMs top 10 is not bad. Ablett is stiff to miss. So is McLeod and Pavlich. Franklin is doing the right things to force a spot too!
  9. Melbourne are a much different side that started the season badly. Aside from the result I was really impressed with a number of players who were either no names or were raw. Some of the players like Wona, Garland and to my surprise Warnock are really to starting to give something. This is at a time when what leadership we have has been devastated by the loss of senior players Neitz, Robbo and Rivers. There is some very good signs from PJ, McLean, Green. Also a player I have been critical of Dunn did a very good job shutting down Swann for 3 quarters. I sure Bailey took lots from that performance yesterday. There are very few Pies I admire...Scott Burns is one of them. What a top footballer to have as a leader and role model.
  10. He is Coach of an AFL club and should be expected to do what he thinks is best for his Club. I would expect Bailey to put such considerations to the MFC Board in similar circumstances if he had reservations about any game.
  11. Correct Titan. However when you are top 4 or there abouts then your is and should be hunted every week. Its a little two faced from Mick (and the not the first time). Hell, is complaining they are playing on the MCG too often???? Perish the thought!
  12. Makes you wonder how close Garry Lyon has been to behind the scenes at MFC in the past. Hope that changes going forward. Lyon could bring alot to the Club...if he wanted to.
  13. Me neither. I actually thought the MFC deserves some credit for the functions on the weekend and well done to all that attend the functions and participated..
  14. Then why wont he tell us what it is and who is on his ticket?
  15. Outside of Demetriou's comments and MFC's 150 year from the perspective of Collingwood it hardly a competitive prospect and was knock down win against an underperforming and weak opposition. They were hardly going to turn up in the droves that usually do for a competitive game. But dont fool yourself Collingwood still represented the good majority of the crowd. I just cant believe Vlad spooked 20,000 Pies from turning up.
  16. Well at least we will have a ready replacement for Yze next year.
  17. I would not bother telling him he has done the wrong thing. He knows and has been told repeatedly. But he would not want to repeat it and he has to make sure he plays at the level he played at for the first 3 quarters going forward. Otherwise he should go. He has done that repeatedly over the years and his efforts reflect a player that has marred his talents with his selfish play that costs the team. I am not sure why people are saying that Yze makes up for the dearth of experience in the team. I dont know what experience Yze brings when he is repeatedly selfish and points to other players to pick up his man. He gets a game because Robbo and Davey are injured. He wouldnt be playing otherwise. No other club would have tolerated such a perennially selfish player for so long. He will be gone at year end and MFC can actually focus on leaders and players that DO play for the team and not on their own terms.
  18. Agree with that. I cant for the life of me understand how people can give Yze votes when whatever good work he does he wrecks with some of the most selfish football you would seen. It was not just the two inexplicable failures to centre the ball and have selfish shots on goal and missed. He had another set shot for goal which was clearly beyond Yze's range. Did he do the team thing and put it to the top of the square 10-15 metres? Not Yze. Had to go for the ping which just got rushed for a behind. Not to mention the gimme he missed in the 3rd quarter.
  19. Must have been 20,000 that were spooked. What a ridiculous post. I actually thought the MFC supporter numbers at the game were significant relative to previous years. If anything I thought the Pies numbers were slightly down given it was an expected win and outside the Vlad controversy and the MFC 150 year there was little to suggest more than a simple win by the Pies. Overall it was not a bad match.
  20. Its irrelevant where and when Stynes did the story, who ran or organised it. Stynes has either done this for his own publicity or has shown himself to be tactless and naive in his dealings with the media. He either know full well the impact of his interview (s) with the HS or is to dim to realise when MFC are in the spotlight for one of the few positives in a difficult year he would allow his own interests to suck the attention away. At best he looks like a media muppet that has been used for cheap headlines. Not a good omen for President. He need to do it with a bit more substance and nous than he has shown thus far. I will be very interested to see who and what he puts on the table.
  21. The Club has pitched this as our major event for 150 years where many supporters pitched up to $500 to go. It is important to the Club and an important celebration of our history. We need to get all the positive publicity we can for the Club. Are you suggesting that Stynes actions reflect a lack of care about our 150 heroes when you state you care? If so, your smartass response merely shows your sense of care up. If it was a Pies event, I doubt you would have a "hero" of the Collingwood Football Club having the gall to upstage the Club at such a major function for his own political purposes? Apalling timing and gesture that was a slap at the Club that it does not need at this time.
  22. He showed no respect in sucking the publicity from a major Club function. Poor form. He needs to show a fair bit of more substance behind his publicity spin.
