  1. If Ball wants to come to MFC, then it would be lunacy to use pick 18 or any pick on him. He owes the Saints nothing. And he would be only punishing MFC by getting it to play in a lottery.
  2. Whilst we have a fine batch of young players with leadership apsirations and potential, I dont think any are ready to take the next step for captaincy once Junior goes. Its not an insult but a reflect of where the Providing he is fit, Ball is 25/26 with around 100 games experience who has been an AFL captain and has played significant level of finals footbal. He is an age and personality type which we are bereft of. I see no problem offering him a VC role (one of a couple in the team). If he stands up to the test then he is a captaincy candidate when Junior departs. Suc an appointment could drive other leadership aspirants to step up in competition. But I am lukewarm on Bruce, Green (and also on McLean) and Davey as captain. As a said its plausible that this offer of a leadership role may be in the mix. I didnt say offer him the captaincy straight off and it should not be a given. Grimes and others are too young. Hardly "lunacy" under the circumstances.
  3. Try PMing Demonland or Whispering Jack.
  4. He is also managing his body given his history with OP. No use flogging him on the track.
  5. All you getting off on is scuttlebutt. No serious allegations have been made at all. If the legal issue was serious, charges would be laid within days. Its 3 weeks now. The only things that are slow or cumbersome are getting to court or in the case of a civil matter subject to collation of material and framing of the action. Now tell me you did work in a news room. Your grasp of legal process is also flaky.
  6. Ball is a natural leader. MFC lack leaders who are ready to lead the club post Junior. MFC need to convince Ball to commit to the red and blue. Its a plausible with some sense.
  7. Ping! And a contract that was much lower than his existing arrangement. He is not my queue.
  8. With no certainty. I certainly am not kncoking the approach. But its a gamble that has a short term window with LT repercusssions.
  9. Why isn't North keeping him? Hmmmm If not Ball then Joel McDonald please.
  10. Maybe he could bring Chris Johnson with him.
  11. Clearly you're not. If it had been anything violent or physical directly toward Vlad or his wife, dont you think it would have been seen given Fev's wild behaviour that night and reported on. It would be hhuuggee news with many witnesses And given its 3 weeks now since the B'low its going to be difficult to now seek police action now on any matter. Flashing something about and then saying "I am not going to say anymore because its a very serious matter" is tantamount to I dont have anything but I will dress it up in a bit of meldrama. Either put up or...... If you cant say it then dont allude to it Its impresses no one and gives you no cred.
  12. And he is definitely likely to do that. Come on, you're the one with the media nous. Think through the ramifications for the AFL, the Clubs involved as this will play right into the media's hands if Vlad did that. Vlad has an ego but he is not bone stupid.
  13. Fev yes. The other battlers. Largely unproven. All at risk on the output of one player who will be with Brown their highest paid player. If Brisbane do reach success they are guaranteed a rebuilding process in 3 years when the key talent retires and they have traded their youth.
  14. What would Vlad do given he and the AFL are so gun shy of bad media? Vlad wont do anything in the media or the profile of the public. he and his minions will do there best to sweep this incident together with Cousins, Bock and other incidents under a very large carpet. Hear Hear!
  15. MFC supporter hyperbole to deal with the pain of an exciting career that was unfulfilled Agree. An awful let down after the build up.
  16. How can Brisbane be deemed the outstanding winner from the trading period if as you say nothing is certain and injuries can derail the most promising season? There whole strategy turns on whether Fevola plays well consistently and on a team basis. If so great and they are top 4 material. If he doesn't they have a financial and PR disaster on their hands. It will take 1 to 3 years to establish the outcome. Given the Dogs have salary cap issues, how could they have fitted $1.4 to 1.5 million into their salary cap over the next 2 years without severely compromising their list?
  17. Doesn't Cameron Bruce qualify for the VL? He is almost our highest paid player. The Robbo issue has been done to death. Use the Forum Search engine for the arguments.
  18. Unless you have similar systemic problems like Fev, your antics pale into insignificance against the litany of bad behaviour that Fev has unleashed over his career. Fev has regularly over indulged socially and with bad results. Carlton has spent significant time and money counselling and trying to improve Fev's responsibility and accountabilty on and off the field. Did Fev listen or did Fev heed? Never. The B'low could have been just another Fev being Fev. We dont know what counselling or advice was given to Fev. If acted as normal then he would have brushed the sage wisdom aside and continued as usual. The unfortunate part is that he went too far this time...further than he normally goes. Given the rumoured turn of events including what is in the Press, Fev had become a social and dangerous wrecking ball. Aside from the serious allegations, he has destroyed relationships by his behaviour that night (if they were not terminal already) As for conspiracy theories on Carlton officials setting him up, I have not seen proof. Prior to the B'low, Fev was finished at Carlton and after having defied, refused and disobeyed during match instructions, Ratten had given instructions that Fev was to be traded. I cant see why Carlton would set up a player only to diminish his trade value and compromise their opportunity to trade him. How far with Vlad take this? ----- About this far.
  19. He was promising but as good as Carey, arguably the best AFL centre half forward ever. Not in his league. Had Ox stayed fit over his career, who knows. He had one consistent year after 2 years of spasmodic cameos. Hyped up to legendary status. Terrible injuries but brave comeback. Won the 1999 Bluey playing a ground level bullocking KPF. Never the same and his body gave out 6 months before he retired.
  20. Not in an RL. AFL players have level of anonymity that RL does not have. And for every Pike in AFL, there are 20 Pikes or worse in NRL.
  21. As opposed to being pick No 2. There will be huge pressure on both to succeeded. Both seem mature kids. I think its splitting hairs at best
  22. Agree. Its mystery of this site that Miller is consistently linked with GC without any shred of evidence that they are interested. But of course Miller is from Queensland. Oh then its a certainty
  23. 29 games in 5 years. No thanks. Damn you Pickering for not allowing an injury riddled player to come to us.
  24. As MFC hold picks 1 and 2, does it matter what order we draft them? Its interesting if it was a choice with a third player like Morabito.
