  1. Kruezer for mine. Very good in the area and very capable at ground level.
  2. Your sarcasm rolled over them like a bowling ball against skittles..... I note that beside you few have questioned the tripe Fuschia put up... You tell if Bailey has passion from his press conferences.....Ugh!
  3. Was this agreement allegedly signed by Bailey conditional on matters to be resolved and agreed by both parties in the later more formal employment contract alleged by Sheahan? As another poster said there could still be wriggle room for both parties but I cannot believe MFC would come so far and backflip in a knee jerk manner on this. Saturday was terrible but surely it could not have been out of the lower end of possible expectations given what they know about the list.
  4. The onus would be on Bailey to prove that the contract terms of an unsigned contract are enforceable. MFC does not have to disprove anything as it has not been established that any terms are agreed. All MFC has given in public is intention to enter contract negotiations.
  5. An unsigned contract is not legally binding. Verbal dispositions are open to interpretation and aint worth the legal fees to prove that.
  6. Why? My question about the state of contract negotiations was indeed pertinent. And aside from the opening comment that the contract was unsigned (not unreasonable given the time) the article is a re hash of old news and scuttlebutt to fill newspaper space. Fodder for the easily amused.
  7. Just read the article.... "The new contract, announced on February 24, remains unsigned as the parties settle on what are regarded as one or two minor details and formalities." Storm in a teacup.
  8. The issue is has the contract negotiations stalled? If the negotiation of the contents is progressing as planned and both parties are seeking to execute in the normal course of events then there is not an issue. We need to be careful was is being inferred here.
  9. If the Board are prepared to extend his contract then they clearly have made a judgement about him. I think they realise the gaps in the list and the potential problems this has caused to MFC. I suspect behind closed doors the Club realises this is going to be a hard season and hence the message of patience. All be it last Saturday was a poor showing but there were clearly many reasons for this and not just possibly the Coach. I can see this patience being tested If the Club do walk away from extneding Baliey's contract then I would have to ask questions about what their vision and why its so easily spooked.
  10. Each are playing the 4th or 5th string midfielder role which they are good at. Mind you in this 3rd year at the Lions, TJ has been typically fickle over the journey. FWIW, I did not think much of his first half. Missed a few targets, 2nd efforts and one easy mark. Needs a good session with a caring barber though.
  11. Cousins efforts to redeem himself have been laced with cynicism, opportunism and apparent failure. Neither Cousins or Pike have demonstrated any real contrition or redemption of their behaviours. When it comes to setting examples at a Club, Cousins and Pike are not two players I would want to rely on for guidance. Like I said there are better examples of footballers who have been successful without being social delinquents. Surely they provide as good if not better lessons for young players.
  12. Miller (128 games) is out. Bruce 204 games, Junior 236 games, Green 200 games. Davey 120 games Moloney 91 games ...850 games there. The other 17 players raffle 527 games. Average 31 games each. Feels like an U 19 team
  13. Its all part of the package of the person that you revere and justify his perennial anti social behaviour. You need to look beyond the medallions. Ben Cousins has a flag, a brownlow, 6 All Australian selections. He is also a definite no go zone...why do you think that??? Hmmmm
  14. I didn't say that. I said that I think there are more appropriate people to speak at the Club. You normally prove that on your own ad nauseam.... The last of many as an AFL player. Well thats make 4 clubs he has left on bad or questionable terms. There were also behavioural questions over him at Port Adelaide in the SANFL pre AFL....but lets just say that involved an official that asked for it. Ok then assaulting someone when you are drunk is justified under those conditions. Tell them to make it a dry event. You know there could be an official there that might deserve what he will get.
  15. Games Experience for Saturday MFC 1377 AFL games Pies 2640 AFL games. Almost twice as many games experience in the Pies team. Our youth will get us there! I hope.
  16. Unrealistic for Sylvia to be back so soon after injury. Newton....well now. Have we pick a more inexperienced bench than this week before? I think this would have to be one of most inexperienced teams we have fielded ever. I am not sure we have a better big man option than Spencer atm.
  17. Both Northey and MM had better than average players at their disposal that allowed them to get the success they had to date. If that the case Bailey should be judged on how much the players he has recruited actually improve. I am not sure you are going to get any more out of Bruce, Beamer, Dunn, Bell, Miller and Jones than you have seen to date as they appear limited footballers period.
  18. Sorry Thomo. Always work with the facts. I will let you gild the lily for your own ends. Malthouse had Buckley (one of the best footballers of his time) Rocca, Burns, Licuria, Clement for starters in his list. I also note in the 2002 side, MM also had Didak, Davis, Presti, Lockyer,O'Bree Johnson and Fraser...all LT competent footballers. They had average AFL game experience in their GF side for 2002 of 94 games (total exp of 2057 games). The team we put on the park on Saturday had nearly 500 games total AFL experience less. And from our side, we got stuff all contribution from Bruce, Beamer,Miller, Bate, Davey and Dunn who contribute about 1/3 of the games experience in our team. Collingwood were a very competent and experienced side that was ripe for a crack at the finals and were not going through the Mother of all rebuilds like MFC. Flower was still a skilled player in his last year even when he played up forward. Its often forgotten that it was Flower with broken finger took crucial marks and kicked vital goals in the famous Western Oval. He then followed up by kicking 5 in the elimination final and 4 more in the qualifying final. If Flower was on his last legs then some of senior player have had rigga mortis set in years ago! So we both agree that Northey had Lyon...a champion (Well done on that). But Northey had the following other players who had 50 or more games at his disposal: B Lovett, Grinter,Gr Healy, Alan Johnson, Stretch, Wilson, Yeats and Wight. And as we both agree add Lyon. And Viney was just a top hard nut player. So who have we got to match the experience and talent amongst our senior list to match the sides both MM and Northey had?
  19. Agree. Bell was contracted for one more year. Where would you put Silvagni in a backline with Rivers, Garland, Frawley, Warnock and Martin?
  20. The role Riewoldt plsys is probably the hardest and most phyisally demanding role on the ground. And the way Riewoldt plays it even more so. He has had his fair share of injuries and as the game gets faster the demands on him will only increase. Its punishing and its not the role that allows a player to glide toward 300 games unscathed. While he has had a bad knee for a while, I dont know if his body is "stuffed". But Riewoldt will need to retain a high degree of fitness to do what he does. I keep thinking of how the build up of injuries and wear and tear cut down Wayne Carey about 10 years ago from AFL colossus to run of the mill within the space of 2 years.
  21. Good post Jacey. Now compare that against the 8 top leaders at other Clubs. Tells a tale.
  22. Unfortunately some average players remain average or worse because they are..... Malthouse has been at Collingwood 10 years with access to the best facilities, lotsa motsa and has a mature list of players that he has crafted. I think you need to rethink your assessment of Northey. He had access to Flower (the last star we had), the class of Lyon, Viney, Stynes, Dean, Lovell, Wight and the maturity of the rebuild of player recruited by Barassi/Jordan. He had some good honest battlers there but to say that they had no class in that side is just wrong. And MFC for past few years has not had that class. Our true talent is in our younger players who are still raw. Our senior list is generally C graders who are showing generally mediocre performance. If our rise up the ladder is not going to come from the scoop of talent we have amassed over the past 4 years then its not going to come from an honest but limited senior list.
  23. Maybe, he does not have the calibre of players yet...... Both Northey and Malthouse had quality players to do that with. Also I wouldnt be using Chocko as an example of things. If any side has underperformed in the past 2 years its PA.Like butter under pressure. No wonder they took Laidley to work on things.
  24. The start of the 3rd sentence should answer the end of your first sentence. Sadly I went and then watched the game on replay!
  25. No its both. In many cases we had kids against men out there. With the senior players there is no excuse. I note Jordie was our highest tackle count with 11. What about the senior players pressure? At the time of leaving TJ was arguably our most talented midfielder. His off field problems did not dictate that he had to go at all. He was not going to be around when MFC were going to be successdul in future. It was a brave move. Up to last year McLean was in the top 3 player paid at MFC. MFC offered him a far lower contract and he decided to go. Once again a brave move given we lack experience and mature bodies in the midfield. We could have paid him more (and above his contribution to side) but we stuck to our guns. You just had to read to gush here about Robbo to see that not everyone could see why he had to go. None of the players you list (ex Frawley) are better than C graders. Some are not even AFL standard. Your list highlights our problem and you cant see it! Its no wonder your confused with whats going on.
