  1. When you try to draw conclusions and be critical of public figures without facts then you should rightly be held up to the light for it and exposed. There was certainly no belittlement but good to recognise that there you were without facts. BTW your cheap shot at Jack Watts, a current MFC player was ungracious and unnecessary. But once again it was probably idle speculation.
  2. I would have thought Moloney shamed himself. The Club did the right thing and held Beamer accountable for an embarrassing and unacceptable performance off the field. Ever thought the Club might have managed the official story of proceedings? Hmmm. What that has to do with hiding Watts???
  3. A few hardened facts would go well with your speculation to settle that troubled gut.
  4. If we are that scared by the media then we should wrap him in cotton wool and place him in a dark cupboard for 5 years and hope that he blossoms into a top AFL footballer and the cruel media leaves us alone. If the FD definitely thought that then I hope Cam Schwab's comprehensive review exposes it for the sham strategy it is.
  5. Yourself included I would suggest. Any thought that Collingwood did not play that well either today?....Hmmm. You have to worry about "strategic" mindsets where the umpire is a big impediment to progress on the day.
  6. Righto so they will go with Murphy 24yo, 80kgs, 104 games. He is 4 years older, 3kgs heavier with 83 more games of experience and a great fitness record. He is a plug in and play class footballer Scully may well go onto to be a better footballer over the course of his career but Murphy is and will be a class AFL player with 200 to 300 games career beckoning. And if Sheedy cant wait the 3 to 4 years for success then.....
  7. So if you are not going to play him against 18 year olds who then would you play him against without doing irreperable damage to his development?
  8. On 3AW, they were thinking that Murphy arguably Carlton's 2nd best player would be offered approx $500k per year by Carlton to re sign. There was discussion that any GWS offer would be approx. 2x that offer and for 5 years. While its open to conjecture, thats $1 million per annum over 5 years that is locked up by GWS that cant be spent on Scully. GWS may be chasing two big $$$ midfielders with Scully being one of them. If they have earmarked a ruck, fwd or back for the other big pay cheque then Murphy might be their choice and Scully might be chance for MFC. While they have a larger salary cap than Victorian clubs, GWS have finite resources to spend. Very keen to hear other Club's players being taken by GWS and not MFC players being taken. It is interesting that Carlton were saying in early Feb that Murphy was just about to sign with them and as we come into May he still has not and was not be prepared to make that commitment to doing so on Fox when grilled by Mark Robinson and others. 3AW said Murphy's body language was most uncomfortable
  9. That again is implementation based on the factors of each game. Each coach has said that the playher picked as the sub will depend on the circumstances. It does not impact the methodology used.
  10. Malthouse, C Scott and Ratten from the limited interviews I have heard from coaches have stated a definite and clear view on the sub. They and their FD associates have spent considerable time analysing the impact of the rule and formed a view. And in the case of Scott his view has been strengthen by the experience. All you were saying was that "All the coaches are still working it out." That is clearly not the case. And the weather is only one factor in the consideration of the sub for each and every game. It does not change the methodology in place by a coach on how to use a sub just the implementation.
  11. Only for mug supporters. Coaches seem to havea very clear and thoughtful view on what the sub is and how to use it. This is clearly alot more informed than the layman spectator. Your assumption on what all AFL coaches is naive and based on your own uncertainties.
  12. I strongly doubt that. There are 3 coaches I am aware that have stated their position clearly on the sub. Other coaches may well have a similar firm belief. I have not heard a coach state that the sub is the 22nd player in your team. This is a position that the media and many spectators have jumped to without the forethought ot analysis that every FD has done. Both Chris Scott and Brett Ratten have emphatically atated that the sub is not the 22nd best player in your team but a player who is specifically selected in that role to make an impact in that specfic game. Chris Scott did not believe an out of form player was benefited by spending time on the pine as a sub.
  13. Substitute North for WCE and the bottom 5 were reasonably predictable. Each of the sides over the course of the year will have their day in the sun but over the course of the year there shortcomings will continue to be exposed by more talented teams playing focussed football.
  14. When one very ordinary side plays another ordinary side then anything can happen. And suggesting that its comparable to when a top 4 side plays a side with a cumulative 1000 games less experience is laughable.
  15. Peter, there is no need for unnecessary grandstanding. Its basic netiquette (ie etiquitte on the net) not to type in CAPS as it does imply SHOUTING whether you intend it or not. Look up "netiquette" on google and surprise yourself. BTW, the best way of emphasiing your points is to make them factual and reasoned not by using caps. Try it.
  16. Its true. MFC did. I am sure Caro loses stacks of sleep over it too, I like Caro as a journo. This article is a rehash with little new.
  17. Really. I cant recall thst. Delisting would be plain dunb. I still dont think Rivers is a criticsl hold and if the right deal came up I would trade him. As for Sydney, that's one game and as I recall MFC players were hot and cold that day. At this stage there has not been a decent test of the MFC to see where it and its players are at. The Hawks have shown we are not top 4 and the Qld teams have shown we are probably not bottom 4.
  18. Did they? I'll put my hand up and say I would have traded him. I am not sure he is core atm. But as for Moloney, neither Brisbane or Gold Coast are bellwethers of performance this year.
  19. They're about the only rumblings that seem to have any substance. Hope you dealt with them promptly.
  20. Never let the facts get in the way of good rant. Honestly. Hodge had an achilles injury and needed the run in the VFL as part of the rehab. The other players had different injuries with different severities and were able to sustain different levels of match fitness coming into their first match. Misguided complaint at best.
  21. Hence your opening post and your ratings. Its great that the ideal 3rd tall does not have to be mobile or be a reliable kick.
  22. I reckon the AFL will try and merge North with Bye to reduce the number of Melbourne based clubs.
  23. So how does this refer to rumblings from within? You trying to infer something in the article that was not there.....no matter how you wriggle.
  24. Quite the opposite. In fact if I don take the past 2 seasons into account, it further validates the caveat emptor I have issued in regard to overstating the first four rounds involving weak opposition. Moloney is very much WYSIWYG. It must have been hard when the truth dawned about Brock McLean. B)
