  1. x 2. And after seeing Fevola's efforts in the easy win over Frankston, I would have thought there is also alot not to learn from Fevola on the ground.
  2. Campbell has missed alot of football and has just recommenced playing. He is still terribly underdone. Spencer was our insurance for Jamar. And we would have been better getting that game time into Spencer.
  3. How pathetic. Its all about avoiding head/neck/spine injuries. Shame on Vlad for doing that.
  4. It was replayed on the TV replay from a number of different angles. Defintely not deliberate but the consequences for Dangerfield were not good. I realise the AFL are tough on tackles that maim a player but FMD the tackle was done in split second with no malice, intent or forethought by Trengove. Very Harsh indeed if its 2 weeks.
  5. Aided by the fact that MFC were allowed to do what it wanted to do given the insipid opposition by Adelaide.
  6. How did he go recently against the Hawks and the WCE?
  7. I would like to see how Moloney and Jones go against more competitive and credible opposition than the Lions, Suns and the Crows (they were putrid yesterday).
  8. Rubbish. Mother's Day....crap weather...coming off a poor performance...playing an interstate club on the slide... 18-20k was definitely to be expected.
  9. Maric was good today but its hard to judge the opposition. IF MFC were awful against WCE, then Adelaide (ex Tippett and Scott Thompson) were thorougly putrid. Saying its his best game for MFC goes without saying. Just wonder what will happen when the opposition will be stiffer and more competitive. Bate did little for me that he is up to it. He wont get it easier than he did today and just went.
  10. If you watched the rest of the game then it was all one way traffic and North performance was exactly in the MFC ballpark. Both were shamefully woeful.
  11. Really??? So much for being good enough in 1994 to win the flag!!! Yeah. Sorry about the facts. I knew it would not make a dent.
  12. Buckley has played rds 1, 2 and 6 are hardly set the world on fire. If he looks betters its because the 21 blokes surrounding him at CFC are better than 21 blokes at MFC currently. Sorry about the facts. Irony. I am not sure what the relevance was of 1994 to the situation now or since then but in your need of facts I will help out. WCE finished the home and away on top of the ladder with 16 wins and 6 losses. MFC finished 6th with 12 wins and 10 losses. Despite an encouraging wins against Carlton and Bulldogs MFC went to Perth to play WCE. They were torn apart 16.21.117 to 8.4.52. WCE then preceeded to journey over to the MCG and beat the Cats 20.23.143 to 8.15.63. An emphatic 80 point win and the flag. There's the facts to counter your opinion. MFC were not good enough that year. And I dont know why you raised 1994 as some link to an MFC failure re recruitment and development. Its another strawman. (But FWIW, had we not had the crippling injuries and one or two other mishaps with players (eg Pike), MFC could have seriously challenged in 95 to 98. But thats history
  13. Favorite sons Voss and Primus are doing well....
  14. Buckley is a fringe player at a top club and is no more a struggler at CFC as he was at MFC. Buckley is hardly a litmus test of that. The 1994 side was crippled by injuries from 1995 to 1998...Ox, Tingay, Lyon, Lovett, Prymke, Charles. They all had great opportunities but could not get on the track. Never let the facts......
  15. People forget that Lyon has been out of AFL football as a player or in an official status, coach, FD etc for 12 years. A bit long in the tooth for starters. Tim Watson has had more recent AFL coaching experience.
  16. Exactly and thats why you are sweating the small stuff over Buckley and co. And BTW, the issue at MFC is not an issue over fringe/depth. We have stacks in that department Its about quality in the top 10 to 20 on our list. There is the issue. Buckley would be a fringe player at both Clubs and is he critical to Collingwoods success. Yeah right. He's hardly a hard body player and plays on the outside. They are a dime a dozen.
  17. Miller and Buckley are the 22nd player in their respective sides and are at best fringe players. We have enough of those at MFC without creating a stockpile. Now you are sweating the small stuff.
  18. ...given they struggle to commit to implementing one game plan.
  19. I saw Colin play cracker of a lone hand on the QBW against the Pies when MFC got wiped. His problem is that he just has not delivered anywhere near the consistency that could be expected of him. Its his 8th year of AFL with over 100 games and he still has the word "potential" round his neck. He needs to deliver. Never have statistics been used to tell a bigger lie. Judd is a elite, a once in a generation midfielder who does what he does with the A grade midfield around. Sylvia is at best a B grader with pretensions. The gulf is so wide between the two players.
  20. We are aruging about the 21st and 22nd positions in the side. Not you TU but there are posters who just like to swing the axe without a plausible alternative.
  21. Boom tish! Good line from Caro. Correct. We have earned the media attention for the wrong reasons.
  22. Apparently the Northern Bullants have a young up and comer in Brock McLean. Apparently goes alright too. We should get him. *Looks for sarcasm meter* Edit: Welcome back Jordie.
  23. No way. This would be contrary to the hard work we put in bottoming out. Our focus should be on maturing our potential not chasing NQRs in their late 20's Strauss, Jetta and maric have no trade currency. If they are no good and dont work then we get rid of them. We want players who will be players when our young core quality mature and blossom. We only add the right older bodies when we are close to challenging. That is 2 to 3 years away. We consider then when we know what we want at that time
  24. Supporters should not expect to have a say in recruitment and should not use it as a justification to overdose on hindsight for a false sense of knowing. When a team is struggling on the field all areas of football operations and other areas should be exmained. The inconsistencies over many years point to a number of issues not just recruitment. You need to assess each recruit rather than make a blanket and erroneous assumption. In addition the players you quoted were recruited by Cameron who is now at Richmond. It is a different recruiting team now. Newton and Meeson were rookied. Essentially, as a guide, you would normally have about 1/3 of your list coming out of contract every year. Are you sure Big Footy has the correct information. Trading players does not open up positions on your list because you still have to reduce your list by 3 players. There are ways and means of achieving that outcome. Just on the list you have...Maric is seriously under the pump.
