Tennis Anyone?
Federer doesnt make an audible sound, but Nadal and Novak did. While I understand the extreme exertion of the combatants if they ban the screech for the women then dont they have to ban to grunt for the guys?? I am thinking there will be an official with a decibel meter that puts his hand up at any time during a point that a screech or grunt gets above XX dbs. Its a hard law to frame and hard to police.

They actually do often grunt and make a loud audible sound when they serve. Its not high pitched. Notwithstanding the extreme quality of the play, many of the rallies with great shots were a case of grunt 1 vs grunt 2.

If Australians hope for Tomic to be World #1 in the future then he is a mile off at the moment. What was presented last night was scary and awesome? i agree the Serbian is not arrogant. And FWIW, all the fussing over the women screaming/howling, does the mens grunting also qualify?

I think there ridiculous press conferences only back that lack of grit and fire in the belly. The senior Indian players have. I cant believe that when India on the Adelaide pitch had to try and bat 5 sessions that Sehwag launched a high risk 20/20 strategy. His flashy low regard for the situation millionaire innings was exactly what India did not need....;particularly from the Captain. At least with Australia, there would be soul searching, review and accountability. In India I doubt there will be much done about this. Aside from Yadav and Kohli who showed some spine particularly as the Tests got tougher the rest were a shambles. There 4 most experienced batsman collapsed into farce.

I cant believe the Australia wont take beer with them on a tour of WI!!! Hasnt Beer disappeared from the scene. I think Lyon has left him in his wake. We didnt take two spinner to SA but it is unlikely he will tour the WI. But certainly one to watch. On a different note Zimbabwe lost 20 wickets in a day in Test against NZ. I have said for years that Zim and Bdesh should never have been given Test status. Once the Flowers left Zim, the country should have been expelled from the ICC http://www.espncricinfo.com/new-zealand-v-zimbabwe-2012/engine/current/match/520591.html

Absolutely. The glittering reign of the Warne has distorted people's expectations of a spinner. You could count yourself lucky, very lucky to unearth and McGill and we did that too. Albeit when Warne was around. We have only got 3 Tests against the Windies rather than the traditional 5 tests we used to have. I cant see us taking 2 spinners (let alone a player that has has little claim at this point to go). I note Byce in his last Shield game took 1-175 off 29 overs. Hardly baggy green stuff at this point. Certainly one to watch. I would always be keen to give a leggie a chance to come through but only when he shows he is ready for the call. He is still young at 22 yo. Hell one of the issues with Warne was that he shattered the myth that leggies dont mature until their 30. But then again Warne was a freak.

Good stat. I take back what I said about the WI. He will stay on for his 13000 run. As we head towards a comprehensive white wash of India 4-0. I cant think of more stunning thrashing given out to a visiting team with big reputations who was expected to win this series easily. Possibly in 74/75 when an unknown Lillee and Thommo destroyed the then healthy careers of Amiss, Edrich, Denniss, Fletcher of England The selectors, the players and the Captain deserve alot of praise. I cant work out how much because the India side have been putrid. The only highlights have been Kohli and Yadav. The rest would struggle to get a pass mark. I cant believe we have not got a century from one of Gambhir, Sehwag, Sachin, Laxman and Dravid. They have all got progressively worse as the series went on. And we did so without Watson, Pattinson and Cummins. Amazing. Dravid and Laxman are finished in Test Cricket. Sad end to fantastic players. I can see Sachin, Khan and Sehwag joining them within 2 years. And then there is Dhoni. What a rout. And we did it with a still unsettled top 3. Warner is the goods. Cowan blew a chance in Adelaide to grab the opening position. Marsh is gone.

I got closest to the pin this time. Yippee. Siddle takes a nice catch. And the hole in the wall is now getting bigger. Interest now rests on Tendulkar getting the ton. Rotten tour for India. The only highlights have been Kolti and Yadav. Under very difficult circumstances both look like capable Test cricketers. Howeever it beats me how international teams continue not to do the proper preparation for an Australian Test tour by ensuring that your key players are fit and that you have sufficient preparatory games in the lead up to the Test. If the BCCI are serious there will be a number of current players who will be making an exit.

I think Clarke might have been tempted it if it were Katich..... Its definitely a case of when to declare. Given Clarke declared in SYD on 329no, i am not sure a personal run accolade for another player will be a consideration. Notwithstanding Punter has made a few people eat their words. I'll admit to being one of them. Arguably the greatest post WWII batsman Australia has produced (Yes I know The Don played in 1948!). What a record and a career. On a side note my fav O/S player Jacques Kallis has nearly 13k runs at about 57 and over 300 Test wickets. What a unit he is! Worth at least 2 players in any side.

Nice pick up 45HG16. How could I have not recalled that? *Stands and applauds* The biggest issue in my mind is that the pitch is playing so well I am concerned that even the out of touch Indians could score runs and not go out. But its so hard to tell. The bowling and captaincy seem listless and the batsman all over them Thats why I like Clarke at 5. Beautiful stroke player. Hey HT, do you reckon Clarke was tempted to declare at lunch with Punter on 198?

Good point HT. I dont like having to try and bowl a side out twice in a row with heat in Adelaide on a good deck. It might have possible with Warne but its a challenge. i wonder if Aust cricket is still scarred by the fateful day in India when we sent India in again from a seemingly unbeatable position and Laxman/ Dravid ground us into the dirt and we lost the series. i cant think where Australia has sent a side in again after that. Anyway one for the record books, how many times has a batsman scored 200 plus in an innings twice in a series? If its been done before I am naming Bradman or possibly Wally Hammond or Jack Hobbs.

3/335 after having Australia 3/84 pre lunch. Aust likely to bat most of tomorrow if they can (get 600+) and then go for the kill. Either way India will need a stroke of luck/genius to keep Aust below 400. India dont want to be batting on this track on day 4 and 5 after the hot sun has baked and opened up the cracks. Another first day of a Test and once again India have been played out of the game.

In Perth I wasnt sure if the wheels had fallen off the Indian wagon. Well...they sure have now. If they bowled Ashwin in the 4th over why did they go in the Test with one spinner. On radio they said that since Sehwag did his shoulder that he has lost any guile and zip. He is fodder. And he opened after tea. Well in Perth.... the wheels are off and Khan and Sharma dont look fit. Yadav is almost out pacing Warner for the century............... off his bowling
