Not sure if it's been mentioned but the Hells Bells song as the players ran out set the scene.. Thought it was great. But did anyone else just have that feeling that things felt different as soon as the boys ran out ? It just seems like a new team, was like watching a different team yesterday. There was excitement in the crowd was sensational.. Watching the replays the roar of the crowd was unreal for only 27,000
I've noticed the Cricket World Cup and now AFL are borrowing some game day stuff from the NBA - good idea, the way they (USA) do sports for attendees makes ours looks pretty amateur in comparison.

Hi guys, is there any way to watch the replay (for free) on the AFL.com.au site? I remember you could last year, however it looks like they've put pay walls up on everything like the NBA.
Cheers

I'm so angry I better not say what I really want to.
The Yin to Robbie Flower's Yang.
Mitch - you are the personification of everything wrong with the entire AFL.

Jack is a first round draft pick and 25 years old. I would expect him to be delivering more than he currently is. Lacks polish. I hope he has a big 2015 because as someone mentioned he is a barometer.
-
He will not be at Melbourne next year.
Don't blame him one bit.

We didn't play very well and we deserved to lose.
Not much else to say.

My kids asked if Dunstall barracked for Melbourne. I explained :
Dunstall is Hawthorn
Hawthorn = hates Essendon
That said, Dunstall has consistently been one of the best players turned media performers
I also told my kids he was an out & out champion. Damn that man could play
- 4x Hawthorn premiership player 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991
- 4x Peter Crimmins Medal 1988, 1989, 1992, 1993
- 3x Coleman Medal 1988, 1989, 1992
- 12x Hawthorn leading goalkicker 1986–1996, 1998
- Leigh Matthews Trophy 1992
- Hawthorn captain 1995–1998
- 2x All-Australian team 1992, 1994
- Australian Football Hall of Fame inductee 2002
- Hawthorn Team of the Century (forward pocket)
Only 188cm, 1254 goals, lightning quick, very accurate kick.
One of the best players of all time, and the best current media personality.
I've got a great deal of simian love.

Yes Mr Principle.
I won't correct this one, pal.

If there was a particularly long post I would often scroll down to see how many "likes" it received before reading it as some sort of gauge to figure out if it was worth my time reading.
The system worked in many ways, is it coming back?
Ha! I did the exact same thing.
Without the Like button, all my cheap gags are worthless.

According to Demonland, Taggert is a serious talent unfairly dismissed, and Nicholson both the luckiest and worst player on an AFL list. The hyperbole and unfoundedly speculative comment on here is just WOW!
It's almost as if people were submitting opinions to an online forum!

From everything I've read I will be very surprised if Coll DO NOT take Freeman.
-
I will be absolutely gobsmacked if Jones isn't named Captain in 2014.

We gave the lions pick 12 which they used for Docherty, Lions fans would be furious
Well Lucas Cook just gave up footy altogether but us supporters get over these things.

There's a joke that springs to mind about Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and an oompa loompa . . .

There goes Dew. Re-signed for 3 years with the swans..
He must be a great coach.

For some reason I'd see Jacks (196 cm, 91 kg) midfield evolution in the direction of a player like Pendlebury (191 cm, 91 kg, with a basketball background).
Fingers crossed.
We've been saying this stuff since he was drafted. He is so far away from Pendlebury it's not funny.
But I will wish him well and hope he turns it around. I'm glad he has a proper mentor now.

Brad Miller was tipped to be captain for a long time in his younger years. His football didn't live up to that idea, but clearly a great guy and inspirational presence inside a club.
Another good call by Roos and PJ.
I think he might have been on the 2003 membership card? . . .

a lot of the media stuff re martin is a complete beat-up.
Guy with skulls tattooed on his hands, earns 500K but can't pay a phone bill, takes 'sleeping pills' on nights out.
They are all subtle (ha!) indicators about what's really going on.
I have posted in the past that we never draft 'mongrel'. This is more mongrel than the rest of the club combined.
I'm not 100% against it, but the club needs to consider that on a personality level he is the diametric opposite of a guy like J Viney.

Do not want!
Talk to Richmond supporters. The guy shines for 50% of the game, goes missing the other 50%.
Not to mention his off-field tendencies which I know of through an ex Tiger.
Would be a horrendous pick up.

If we win a flag and can't rejoice on Demonland, is it really even worth winning?

What does the head coach do?
Bailey had us playing as frontrunners, Neeld as norunners.
Clearances and stoppage work is at the feet I the midfield coach but that is cattle.
Midfield run and positioning is the head coach because today - everyone is a defender when you don't have the footy.
Illustrating this point is Craig got us to average 20 UPs more than we did under Neeld and out opposition 20 UPs less.
Craig made some changes, gae some confidence and it made an 80 UP differential into a 40 UP differential.
And Royal was there for both.
Criticizing assistant coaches I shake my head at - how would you know? How would you know?
Thanks for illustrating my point so verbosely. Whether we were frontrunners or norunners, there was no defensive pressure applied on the rebound. It is a salient point because whatever the game plan def. pressure is still required when they rebound, particularly given our opposition rebound all the time because our 'skills' produce non-stop turnovers.
So whether (BR(x%) + Head Coach(y%)) failed to fix skills, or fix defensive zones, (BR(x%) + Head Coach(y%) still bloody failed.*
*Fixed for Rhino's inevitable sook.

Someone goes out of their way to provide some inside information and even though it isn't exactly groundbreaking you need to be a smartass about it?
Hi Clint welcome to Demonland
POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 5
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
It's been a long time since I've been on D'land and I think the time away has done me good.
If you are not proud of the team for their effort last night under the circumstances you have rocks in your head.
This is the young talented Demons team we have been pretending to have for the last decade. We are not going to win the flag this year, and I dare say we may not make the finals because we will be missing our most important player for a long stretch of the season. However, we are developing a harder edge and consistent effort that will allow us to compete every week, no matter who we are playing, and I personally find this extremely encouraging.
On a side note, Oliver is the best inside mid I've seen in the Red and Blue.
