Whilst he made some valid points, the most astounding omission from his game analysis is that he failed to comment on the complete absence of any structure or game plan when we brought the ball forward during the game.

The amount of times players looked upfield to see no options to kick to, no leads, no forward structure or method of bringing the ball into our forward line....was just astonishing. Indeed, these lack of options created alot of indecision in our players, undoubtedly contributing to the skill errors on the day.

The lack of forward structure was by far the most troubling element of the whole game for me.

Whats even more troubling is that Bailey isnt seeming to notice it.

Yes, this is the root cause of the handballing malaise we've seen at times.

I remember someone bringing up this issue after round 1 last year.

he'll never talk about structure in these type of reports... doesn't want to give our opposition a heads up... he'll concentrate on statistics reflecting the flow of the game, and individual efforts by players to summarise our performance...

Reminds me of what the PRESS were saying about Mark Thompson a few years ago

I really think Bailey is a good appointment for us and he comes from that long list of ordinary players who had footy smarts who became coaches

some of them became GREAT COACHES so give him some time

Watch how skillful our team executes the basics of kicking , marking and handball on the training track without an opposition

Bailey has a simple game plan yet on match day our skills are poor due to the pressure

Our improvemnet will come when our players put pressure on the opposition FIRST

The worth of a good team player is what they do when the OPPOSITION have the ball

Thats what bailey wants to see as well

Exactly the same philosphy as some ordinary players named HAFEY and JEANS had

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
