i suggest you direct your rather ill informed misgivings to the producers of the show. And i might be mistaken, but i thought i saw it announced at a press conference.

As far as garry goes, it seems a case of damned if he does, damned if he doesnt..

Do you actually understand what has been said ?? I doubt it.

No one ( myself including ) was expecting any fanfare.. but it was almost a non existant offering on his part. ( G-L's ) Keep in mind he'd been happy to say a lot of things in one form of medai..but when something positive happens he al lbut shirks it in another.

No is not his job per se.. but he is in the media.. he is known for his supposed passion for Melbourne.; which must be true to some extent otherwise why the meetings with Stynesy and gardner etc. So he has some vested interest.. It seems perfectly reasonable to me that he might take the liberty of giving us s bit of a pump !!.

Brayshaw is only a newby as Chairman.. but he is normally quite gung ho about things North Melbourne even last year.. and the year before etc etc etc

Your mention of the announement at a presss conference absolutely misses the point. This was an opportunity to say something in a good light.. and it was thrown in the bin. Is that ill informed is it ??

damned if does..damned if doesnt

well he DOES bring things into question... and he DOESNT use an opportunity to do exactly that he bemoans.

Often Melbourne is labeled as having no passion... and thats what I saw !!

to me last night was a 1%-er missed !!

At the risk of reopening the who should coach debate, could you imagine Sheedy allowing us to have this lack of profile! I note with interest that the Herald Sun SuperCoach comp has had so much interest it crashed last night according to todays paper - with a big picture of Sheeds above it. Bailey may well turn out to be a good coach, but I'm more worried about the prospect of him actually having a club to lead in a few years time. Sheedy would have been brilliant for the next two to three years whilst the club groomed a long term successor and helped build the profile so that announcements like the one just made would have received their due air play! I know it's done and dusted and I hope Bailey turns out to be Norm Smith and Ron Barassi rolled into one, but I can't help but feel we missed a golden opportunity!

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
