We are all aware of his talents and how he didnt fulfill the ambition of the Club etc.

Wasnt Trav a bit of a Party boy ? Thats my perception ( Brownlow Medal count 2006) although i dont know if it is true.

If he was, maybe the Dean Baily & club has decided that they dont want that type of player at the Club.

Possibly, The Ox on SEN this afternoon alluded to the fact that Trapper perhaps didn't keep the best company off field.

That isn't ideal for keeping your focus 100% on footy, although he hadn't been at the club for about 5 years he had heard similar

Stories. And then went onto say that if it was purely football related then he wouldn't have been moved on... where theres smoke ...

then often is fire...

You may well be right, but if you are then Trav is being made a scape goat. Melbourne recruited a 17 year old boy at the 1997 draft and he has known no other life than the MFC since then. It is the culture that has existed at our club (and lack of leadership) that allowed Trav to develop in the way that he did. There are many others equally worthy of being moved on - unfortunately Trav is the only really experienced player still worth a first rounder, so he is voted off the island! Trav did not create the culture, his personality and life style was allowed to develop within the MFC. I'd say the club leadership (playing, coaching and admin) have a lot to answer for.

good point

I would have to say that the departure of Ward, Trapper and byron (wiht Chopper on the market) would indicate that a change is coming. Whether it is forced, or jsut due, a cultural shift is underway at the Club. Party boy antics dont bother me so much, but the Bailey regime seems to be agaisnt it as it has seen trapper moved and chopper on the table.

I would be happier if we got rid of the Day Spa, Hair gel culture first!

Hopefully things don't become TOO SERIOUS down at the club, or we could see the club turn into the Swans Eade era (self destruct)

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
