AFLW TRAINING: Wednesday 19th November 2025

Featured Replies

They turned up when the men were still out there and just finishing.

Not much interaction between them.

The women were less animated, they had their serious styling on. The joy couldn't be contained, and regularly got expressed as training went forward. There was plenty of talk, instructions, and support during their work.

Chaplin doing run-throughs. Then change of direction movement. Got down to some kicking after having her hammy massaged. Seems to be moving well. Later joined in a few sims. Probably a good chance of getting a run if she ticks the right boxes before Friday.

Purcell in rehab, working hard.

B. Mackin was on light duties.

O’Hehir spent less time in the sims than usual.

Beasley continues to train well, her disposals are impressive.

Zanker in full training, as well as Golvin.

Hanks getting heavily involved. Her and Hore matched up for drills and they were pushing each other in the contests.

Harris does lots of talk and creates the necessary structures in the area that she patrols.

The forwards were hitting up well and the deliveries were perfect at times, they were getting the angles right.

If it wasn't for the opposition having that winning streak, I would suggest the women are ready at the right time of the season, and will be firing with belief, skills and a game plan.

Go Dees.

Maevo said she’s hopeful of a return this week but seeing her rehabbing with Liv didn’t fill me with confidence 😞

Blaithin came off early in the session to have her leg taped (very well-taped). Idk what the issue is.

Mick said he told the players to enjoy the win on Saturday night then it was straight back to focussing on this week. He seemed quite relaxed and like some of the immense pressure of last week had lifted. He’s such a gifted communicator, I love watching him interact with the players.

It was nice to talk to Kate Roffey who came to watch the girls train. She’s still a passionate Dees W fan.

I would suggest this despite North’s winning streak, Kev.

I didn’t realise ‘til today that North’s lowest winning margin this season is 29 points. In the W comp this is incredible but it doesn’t mean they can’t be beaten. They can.

I can’t believe there was no one from the media there today to report on today’s session. A team is playing a prelim in three days and you wouldn’t know it. There was the usual small group of spectators which doesn’t surprise me, but not even a single cameraman.

Did you notice that Chaplin did some sim plays?

Ran coast to coast and was kicking with some oomph.

Mackin was on lighter duties last week and got up for the game.

She is working through a niggle, possibly that knee area that has some bandages around it.

Must be a temptation to rest her. Beasley a maybe? It was mentioned by a watcher that Grace had been playing in the scratch matches that those who don't play game day, get to play in.

We’ve been anticipating the return of Grace

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
