Injuries

Featured Replies

I think it would be fair to say we were unlucky at first with a few structural injuries...but I cant for some time remember having so many soft tissue injuries at the club. There was a lot of discussion about BB early on, but in his defence we had injuries that could not relally be blamed on him (Robbo, Neitz, Brock, Barts).

However as the season roles on, the soft tissue injury toll is starting to mount. Bate, Whelan, Rivers, Sylvia, Petterd, Jamar, Moloney, Green and Yze are all victims. Whilst we know Slyvia and Moloney have had pre existing conditions (although Slys hamsting isnt) guys like Green and Yze are good examples of players who never have them but have this year.

I dont think we can put everything that has happened this year down to bad luck. We trimed down to become a more running side to play the run and carry game plan. I wonder if being so trim, our condition is gone to the point that the players break down easily. This may not be so bad if we really gained an advantage in our fitness and speed but appart from yesterday we have yet to really run over the top of teams. I think the gameplan and the fitness program to go with it has been a mistake.

I think greater focus should be placed on conditioning so the players can get through a whole year without breaking down. You only need to look at the Swans to see that being able to put your best players out on the park each week will go a long way to getting you a flag.

How many games has Moloney Played and Missed since crossing from the Cats ?

He seems to be constantly injured.

This is definately something that needs looking at. Not being able to have the same team even 2 weeks in a row is ridiculous. Teams win matches not individuals (unless you are Chris Judd) and we haven't had a team in all year!!!!!

I read that Green's harmstrings started feeling tight and he would normally have come to the bench. However, we didn't have anyone on the bench that was fit so he stayed out there.
